I was thinking about DLC and how Nintendo are either the ones picking characters or just giving Sakurai a list to pick from.
Luigi's Mansion 3 is coming sometime next year, right? It'd be cool if they added King Boo as a fighter, since he's been a decently requested character and it'd advertise the release of the new game.
So I guess it's true that Smash is a commercial for other games. It just convinced me to try out Fire Emblem.
I've almost finished Awakening and I played a bit of Fates. At least the games its advertising are good. Absolutely loving it.
People are requesting King Boo? I think he'd be a good addition to Mario sports games as a permanent character, him and Petey, since they were a big part of the original Gamecube Mario spin-off lines, but I don't think I've heard anybody request him as a Smash fighter.
FE is great and the soundtrack in those two is the best, I'm looking forward for the full song selection in Smash
In regards to this, I think the most notable ones I remember being repeated that no longer really are (i.e. not Dixie Kong, Isaac, Banjo-Kazooie, etc) would be:
-An Advance Wars rep (mostly Andy and Sami, the latter being boosted by her design and the fact that Project M considered using her and eve made a model for her)
-Midna + Wolf Link (Skull Kid has absorbed almost all of the interest for them, and what remains has been mostly converted into Amaterasu support)
-Ghirahim (same deal, Skull Kid has replaced them in terms of popularity)
-Blaziken (people prefer the idea of Sceptile as the Gen III rep now)
-Deoxys (see above)
-Goemon (Most Konami support by fans wanting more series is now focused on Bomberman, who was of comparable popularity in the Brawl era)
-Mike Jones (StarTropics, popular suggestion for a western-influenced retro character owned by Nintendo for a while in the Melee era)
-Balloon Fighter (Villager basically destroyed interest)
-Professor Layton (Once he was sorta "retired" in his own series, interest in him dropped in favor of Jinbanyan from Yokai Watch)
I don't think any of us are actually expecting it. It's more that it seems likely. Likely is not a guarantee to happen.
So any hope that I had for Rayman in Smash Ultimate is dead.

The fact that this might be real makes me think that we probably could have gotten an Unreal Tournament rep as a DLC fighter in an alternative timeline where UT3 didn't almost completely kill the franchise and UT4 was ported to the Switch instead of Fortnite.

i actually like the idea of Midna/Wolf Link as a character more so than Skull Kid. I never got into Twilight Princess and I love Majora Mask, but I see more interesting fighter mechanics with Midna/Wolf Link.

yeah people needs to laugh at these jokes because these are jokes. see the point is that its an element out of context therefore is designed to make you feel uneasy, and the shock of that feeling might trigger a confusion that eventually leads to laugh due to the absurdity of the situation in comparision to a real scenario.
see? whenever i present these jokes i always make sure that people understands them so they can find the joke (and by extension who said it, in this case me) funny.
by all means please laugh at the joke that he posted because i do not want to asume that you're unable to understand the humor in this chain of events relevant to your knowledge. i'd be pretty dissapointed to be yet again forced to explain the nature of said statement in order for you to laugh at it. because I certainly can (bias aside) and i'm sure you can too.
