god I hope, I want Brawlimar to make a return
Duck Hunt meta :V
Ultimately the best character will be the most degenerate. Happens almost everytime.
Well, what about Pokémon Trainer? He seems to be pulling it off pretty effectively this time around. Plus when it comes to Samus/ZSS, we don't have to necessarily keep it tied to her Final Smash anymore. We could just have her use Shield+B to activate and deactivate her Power Suit and change nothing else about the two forms from how they already are as independent characters.
I want PP to take that slot tbh
Fuck that, give me my Isabelle dominated meta.
Pokemon Trainer I disagree with solely because A. I have a friend who mained Charizard in Sm4sh so I know that there are tons of people genuinely upset that their main in PM or 4 is back to being a part of a 3-man group, and B. PM proved with grace that each character could stand on their own surprisingly well, but Pokemon as a series has way more character representation, way more unique character designs in terms of gameplay, stance, moves, et c, and is a series built on the idea of having a team that you can swap between at will to turn the tide of battle. There are lots of valid arguments for and against Pokemon trainer returning. Zelda and Sheik together and Samus and ZSS together don't have the same gameplay design. There was never any inherent focus on making them a tandem, like Pokemon Trainer, Rosalina and Luma, Ice Climbers, or Duck Hunt. The most that could be said is they (share) have the design of one character being a fast and strong combo glass cannon (Sheik, ZSS) with their other form being much better at stalling, projectiles, and kill power, but even then Sakurai has never outright stated that that was the intent of the characters' respective designs. Unless they were balanced perfectly, maybe even beyond perfectly, there would always be an argument of "why not just stick to the better form?", and that's where the "Zelda's best move is downb" joke comes from. By separating the characters, Sakurai and the balance team can better hone in on what they want the specific Zelda, Sheik, Samus, and ZSS to all play like, feel like, and represent. Pokemon Trainer was designed to play like a team of characters, feel like you're playing as an actual Pokemon Trainer, and represent the core foundation of gameplay design that lies in Pokemon's RPG and team-building pillars.
Yeah, i get that, but I think the point of multi-form characters is just giving the player more options overall. *shrug* I mean, the idea of a "stance system" in fighting games where your guy switches between various "modes" or moveset layers is an actual trope in fighting games. It's not exactly unprecedented or nonviable.
Zero saying Incineroar is just decent just makes me think that someone's going to rip and tear with him anyway since thats how dedicated grapplers tend to pan out. I just hope that's actually the case.
Yes, I'm fully aware of stances and stance characters in fighting games. That's not what Zelda/Shiek or Samus/ZSS are. Shulk is a stance character. Zelda/Sheik and Samus/ZSS are separate characters that were conjoined by literally a button press. Just because you could theoretically "mash Chun-li and Zangief up to where if you do a 720 and press jab, you could swap between the two, but otherwise they'd play the exact same, creating a new transformation character" doesn't mean there's a good reason to do it, especially when they've been designed as completely different characters at this point. It's fine that you want it back, it's fine that you miss it, (though chances are high that unless you're a huge princess zelda fan it's just nostalgia talking), but it's not something that'd actually be worth bringing back, and there's very little that could justify actually bringing it back when a majority of the playerbase wanted them separated since they originally debuted (hence them being completely separate in Project M).
Just as a reminder Baynetta was put 11th on the first tier list she appeared on.
Speaking of stance characters, I wonder if they would be willing to experiment with that archetype. It would be interesting and could even tie into a third-party character, like a Tekken or Soul Calibur character. *cough*Yoshimitsu*cough*
As much as I like Lifelight, I don't really think the English singer's voice really has enough passion or emotion behind it for such an epic theme.
If you pre-purchased the digital version, check your email associated with your Nintendo account. Just got an email with a download code for Piranha Plant

Imagine the nightmare of having to balance 70+ characters
We must be crazy.
To be fair Saukrai and co couldn't do that back when they had 26 characters either.
I mean, MOBAs have been doing it for years now.
Diddy was also broken at that point and was able to keep Bayonetta in check just by existing, though that's just mostly because Diddy had 2 years to have their meta evolve while Bayonetta had a handful of months. Early projections are usually not that off when everyone is on the same foot.
In that case maybe all these people putting Bowser Jr so low are wrong! ;~;
I just want my girl Samus to be viable, damn it.
At least Dark Samus still has the best colors in the game https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1822/1f54aa5d-b076-4aec-ab1c-f0dc1bce8fc0/image.png
