Super Smash Bros. General v17: Everyone is DEAD! (except Kirby)

I wonder how the voice acting was in Sonic Heroes' FMVs…
Whenever I see people talk about smash 4 in retroperspective it seemingly always boils down to "good game. no personality." and as much as people seemed to complain about spirits and how they are "Hollow jpgs" unlike trophies with descriptions and everything, I feel like Classic mode which has character-specific lineups seemingly and spirits, which are event matches specifically designed around each jpg basically make it impossible for this game not to have personality
just boils down to the gameplay now
Why I like Spirits:
"Hey, you know those silly situations we put characters in to reference things from other games in trailers?"
"Yeah?"
"Let's make a mode out of that."
Brilliant
People weren't kidding, I gave the demo a second try with Simon/Richter this time. Projectiles and whip range are so damn good, it's easy to keep opponent at bay. Recovery isn't great but the stage it picked was on Mushroom Kingdom II so there's barely any point for it. I did won but it was in Sudden Death and Holy Cross put it's worth.
Sm4sh to me would be a lot more impressive if WiiU didn't happen. Sm4sh 3DS was easily the better successor to Brawl. A classic mode that wasn't pure unfun, a lot of really fun maps, Smash Run, and the fact that it was mobile. I had a lot more fun the year 3DS was out but WiiU wasn't
Aside from playing with my buddies on the Wii U, I always played Smash 3DS over Wii U. Single-Player content on the 3DS was much, much better.
I felt burnt out by the time Smash Wii U was released from constantly playing on Smash 3DS.
i mean if they didn't feel obligated to have made the 3DS version in the first place, all of that goodness could've been on the wii u version. if anything, the wii u version just got insanely fucked over for a multitude of reasons in favor of the 3ds version. hope that never happens again because it was a serious drag.
I doubt they were "obligated" to make the 3DS version, especially seeing as it came out a year before the WiiU version. If anything, they probably felt obligated to make the WiiU version because the WiiU flopped so hard.
considering every major home console since the N64 has had an entry into the series, its pretty safe to assume that has always been the plan for the Wii U ever since they revealed it. i couldn't tell you the itty gritty details of it, but it would make more sense for the 3DS version to have just been a backup incase the Wii U failed that way Nintendo wouldn't be at a complete loss of profit for it
It came out 2 months before.
Did it really? holy hell
Its truly a wonder that thy managed to make the 3DS version in all honestly. There is a reason why Sakurai considers an entry on the series on its own.
given how popular both systems were, its not a surprise how they feel obligued to make a version for both.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Sakurai has wanted portable smash ever since the DS, and the fact that there was a 3DS version at all is because of that fact. Nintendo had to force him to make a console version just to make the Wii U relevant
If I recall from an interview, Sakurai wanted a 3DS Smash only, but was told by Nintendo that he needed to make a Wii U version also or it would have gotten canned.
maybe I should have more faith in nintendos dlc picks since they're the reason we even got the Wii u version of Smash 4...
cuz I'll be honest if we had only gotten the 3ds version there wouldve not have been nearly as big of a following years later. competitive scene wouldve been weak. no crazy 8 player smash LAN parties. no freedom to use whatever controller you want. would've been terrible.

Basically what WiiU had over 3DS.
True, 8-Player Smash is the most fun I've even had in a multiplayer Nintendo game, it's a shame that the single-player content is ass.
A display of Richter's heroism

For a majority of casual-centric players I personally know, Smash 4 was a massive disappointment even on the 3DS given the single player was incredibly barebones or "hollow" given it boiled down to RNG-matches.
I'm feeling Ultimate will be on the heavier content-side as far as Single Player goes.
IMO I still think Melee's Adventure mode is the best single-player mode in any Smash game. It's not so long that it gets tiresome to play multiple times, it's wholly unique with actual adventure stages, has a lot of little quirks and bonuses that make playing fast all the more satisfying, like the Giant Kirby and facing Giga Bowser, and it's just plain fun. It's the only one that I'd still play casually just for the hell of it. SSE was a nostalgia experience for me and I don't like how Brawl feels anymore, but I can't deny that it wasn't something special. 3DS's arcade mode was...okay. It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful, like WiiU's arcade mode.
The fact that Smash 3Ds still costs 30 bucks on a system that's kinda garbage for it, is a bit of a crime.
Nintendo games rarely go down in value. They always manage to keep their original value until they do those Nintendo Selects.
Max is also the ONLY ONE that recognized the FF7 intro after the first few notes! Like his face completely changed from exited to confused in an instant his ears picked up the notes.
When he says it's favorite game of all time, he isn't kidding. His heart must have skipped a few beats when he realized what was going on.
That and he lost his shit TWICE when Zero popped off (he confused him for playable bc he plays a modded version of Smash) and Protoman/Bass addition to Mega's FS.
He also picked up when Sakurai mentioned that Ken's long range FS was a reference to the "VS series" which is also one of his favorite FG series.
Dood's genuine as hell for what he loves. I wish I could be half as passionate as he is.

im ready
I'm mostly annoyed that it doesn't have a version with the dlc included for a non absurd price.
I genuinely love to rewatch Max's reaction to Cloud because he had the same feelings as I did when I saw the trailer. I noticed the song right away in my friend circle and flipped the fuck out.

I've been ready as well. Gonna buy that 8bitdo GCN Adapter and see how it fares.
I already got 4 Gamecube controllers (one of which is a Wavebird), two Pro Controllers and two sets of Joycons with Grips for both. I'm ready.
