Super Smash Bros. General v17: Everyone is DEAD! (except Kirby)

I feel like Nintendo picking the DLC fighters pretty much confirms my fear that we'll get another FE rep from the Three Houses game. I mean, even if they have an interesting moveset it's going to feel like a letdown because the franchise already has so much representation, which is exactly how I feel about Incineroar
Hope you are also ready for another Pokemon rep for the next gen!
alright so where should i bury Geno
Back in Melee he was an ad for the then-upcoming Fire Emblem Binding Blade
The fact you guys are complaining shows exactly what Sakurai was talking about lmao
Mewtwo was DLC before the game came out so i don't count it. Alternatively, he was testing DLC character waters or was Piranha Plant, where he wasn't finished in time to add to the base game. Cloud was announced around the FF7 remake announcement, and considering how the remake has gone missing for a while, it's safe to assume there was a Switch port in the works that fell through.
If they somehow add Melmetal / Meltan I'm not complaining
except we're discussing it here instead of "flooding him" so no, not really
Yeah, and you're talking about his placement in Smash 4.
I mean to be fair, no matter what, Edelgard still has a sick design so it's not quite as bad as getting Barefoot Mary Sue, there are definitely worse choices in terms of aesthetic. stares at Fates
Watch as she gets in though and ends up with a sword and down B counter instead of a cool axe, though. . . . . :/
No he isn't lol, I was (actually I was talking about literally every other DLC character because I forgot Roy was DLC)
Yeah, if the reactions in this thread are comparable to a fraction of what Sakurai gets to endure on social media, I seriously sympathice with him.
You shouldn't have visceral reactions to video games.
People were already expecting this to be the case way before even K Rool's announcement, though. It's not that big of a shocker, especially if DLC goes on until 2020 for wave 1. I was somewhat expecting them to be a wave 2 instead, but the timespan of the 5 seems wide enough that it might not just be 3rd party characters, after all.
No matter what someone somewhere will complain that their favorite obscure character isn't in Smash
I am certain this is why Sakurai made Piranha Plant. It shows that not only anything can be a character, but that sometimes a character doesn't need to be from a specific series or have any back history to them to be an amazing pick for the game.
If the end of Federation Force has anything to go by, Sylux will be playing a significant role in Prime 4. While I'm certain a sword Lord will be a DLC, hold out hope for a Prime tie-in.
Typically you would be right but crossover fighting games are an entirely different story and I don't really think I need to explain that. Look at Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. Incredibly tight game to play, some extremely notable characters moveset-wise, but it was held back by a lot of shortcomings. Including a baby roster of meh characters that were clearly only added in to tie in to movies. MVCI is basically if the entire Smash roster was Corrin, rofl.
So does this mean chances for Crash are lower or still the same?

Not too sure if Crash's chances were strong in the first place since it was only fairly recently that Crash came to the Switch. Even accounting for pre-release negotiations/timing/etc, it's still seemingly recent in the scale of things.
The point is, Nintendo already has almost all their own important characters in one game. Third parties didn't start becoming a thing until Brawl, and we already have amazing additions for the third party roster. We don't need more third parties, we want more.
MVCI needed more characters.
Can't argue with that.
and now, for something completely different: guile's theme remix by the streets of rage composer

Most likely got moved to Special Smash, I'm sure they didn't kick the bucket for it.
At first I though it was a joke account...
My wish for one of them is that it plays out exactly like in Smash 64. Like example: Mario's Classic Campaign is him going through the exact same N64 Classic scenario (starts with Link in Hyrule Castle, then Team Yoshi, then Fox on Corneria, ect.

Truly sad that he had to add such a thing.
We truly don't deserve Sakurai, but he is right. There's no point in persisting him when the DLC line-up was already chosen before the announcement.
I still see twitter posts about people complaining about certain fighter but come on, the guy already did the most impossible shit like bring Snake of all things back, and making K. Rool and Ridley a reality.
I can be upset at one thing though, no FF music.
But that's not even Sakurai's fault, that's Square being an ass.
I heard it was more due to weird rights with the composer actually owning it, rather than square themselves?
Might be pulling that out my arse tho.
I think it's worth mentioning that Nintendo giving selections for DLC doesn't necessarily mean no third parties; they still could have made someone like Banjo or Sora as a representation of their partnership with another company.
There's no chance in hell they're not doing third parties. It's just going to be third parties from companies Nintendo wants to improve their relationship with. If Nintendo thought they could gain something out of Banjo-Kazooie or Geno in Smash bros they'd put them on the short list and probably include the details of what they'd want if those characters were included for the negotiations.
Sakurai's probably going to pick a decent selection although one slot is basically already confirmed for Rex because the man has shameless bias and gushes over XB2. XB2 fans got an apology and a content pack and they still get more. What I wouldn't give for an apology or even a music track for my most wanteds that never got in.
