Well the whole thing is pretty much a shameless cash grab, so what do you expect? The writing I'm seeing is good, but you'd expect that given Bethesda cut all NPCs in their RPG. Without decent writing and voice logs the entire thing would play pretty boring imo.
I feel sorry for the people who were hoping to avoid some of the large downloads by buying the physical copy. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dr9tbjIWoAA2-E6.jpg
The game is, what, 50gb? A DVD is what, max size of 8gb. Yeah, that wasn't gonna happen. Barely anyone has a bluray drive on PC.
It is a bit irritating, but I have seen some of the stuff in the Atom Store in the game already, too, so it might all be there. I kinda feel like most of the reused Fallout 4 content, especially hairstyles, should've been in the base game, and then new stuff could've been extra. Or maybe it is there, somewhere, in a magazine or something. Either way, if the Kellogg's outfit goes on sail on the Atom Shop, I'll probably be getting it. I have a bunch of the stuff anyway, so no need to use any real money or anything.
Yall know I had to do it in F76 too right? ("Fixed" the hunting rifle) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132907/a5495cf8-2306-4035-9baf-e5f5599f9b14/Deee.jpg
Multiple discs are a thing. Also, the case isn't even fit for display, it's so cheap that the cover warps.
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/211527/2985f234-2f26-491f-8974-d02d5f02740c/ScreenShot25.png I have made a terrible mistake coming into this place. Most of the items in the Atom Store are just reskins, but you get so many atom points from just playing the game, I don't understand why you'd even need to buy them.
I've had an experience like this but with vertibots, 20 of them, all following each other. They were level 45, I was 6. Word of advice, don't take a pot shot at vertibots and expect to make a cheeky get away.
Ah yes, 6 discs, yeah, no one is gonna to do that. Maybe if bluray players on PC were common place, it would be that way, but digital took over PC gaming YEARS ago. Every PC game now is just codes, has been like that for what, almost 5 years? Casing being cheap is stupid tho.
I got to play a bit on PS4 last night, I'm really digging it. It's by far the prettiest Fallout game I've ever seen, I know stuff like RD:R2 is out with insane graphics that blow this out, but despite not being super realistic its just so damn pretty. The world feels much more full and rounded out than Fallout 4, which was one of my main complaints with that game. Playing with other people is, like any game, super amazing and fun. The gunplay is surprisingly fun even on console and combat feels satisfying and much more challenging this time around (maybe because I'm on a controller rather than M/KB) too. My main complaint (and it's a big one) is the lack of NPCs. I really don't know what the fuck Bethesda was thinking with that one. The game would be GOAT for me if there were human NPCs like the other Fallouts. Why they didn't do it, I have no fucking idea. It's not like there aren't a million MMOs out there that have perfected the model of multiplayer games with quest giving NPCs.. Like, it's such a simple thing to do and yet they just cut it all out, ostensibly because they weren't confident in making it work in multiplayer? Just make the quest-givers go unconscious rather than die dude. What were they thinking?? So far, one day in, I'd say the game is good. It's got plenty of flaws, primarily that dumbfuck NPC decision, but it's still fun. Maybe that'll change as I get tired of fetch quests, we'll see :p
They explained it several times since the game was announced.
It was cheaper for me to buy the physical edition (with the patented paper CD) and get 3 neat lil' pins and next day delivery than it was to buy it from bethesda itself https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/419484119123099648/512718541389037582/Photo_2018-11-15-191339.png
Being perpetually out of carry weight & inventory space in my stash is getting really frustrating. A single piece of power armor weighs 14lb and the max you can store is 400lb worth of items. And then every guns weighs 10+lb and you can only carry ~180lb on your character. Im having to set of camp and scrap items after every encounter with enemies, and i've already had to perform inventory management on my stash twice. Not even level 20 yet.
I played with a random guy last night and right before we got offline we went to Alpine River Cabins. Hoo boy that place is a doozy. We freaked out the whole time thinking that Hades himself was going to come out of the Earth and make us cry for our mamas. Our mountain mamas that is. Plus all the other shit going on there, man there's some cool little quick word building.
Some games used to do this back in the day (Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 if memory serves me)
I have plenty of those https://vgy.me/AAwEwb.jpg https://vgy.me/CSNzL4.jpg https://vgy.me/APWnnV.jpg https://vgy.me/ha93oN.jpg Bethesda really needs to make a horror game, their engine is perfect https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1977/0b5f60ea-ce00-44b0-852e-5fcdddc1d885/image.png https://vgy.me/L9W60W.jpg
Do you think 20-30 years from now, people will be looking back wondering why this generation was buying codes for games that were sold in DVD cases that held no disks?
Yeah, games did that before, but that was before the internet was where it is today.
And that was at a time when games being more than 5 GB was a rarity. My copy of KoTOR came on four disks, and that was for a game that was less than 4 GB. Even with that many disks, you could install a game in well less than an hour.

Holy shit. Hope it runs well.
I still didn't forget the author of this mod for not mentioning on the nexus page you can get an incurable STD if you sleep with a hooker in the red seat district.
gotta get a patch to patch that out i guess.
It uses pre-builts from what I can tell. So it's as optimized as the default FO4 should be???
ok???
Okay I agree w/ whoever said power armor is abundant. I went back to playing and within another hour found another set of power armor and frame.
So, is anybody like me who is trying to enjoy the game just constantly getting unexplained crashes left and right? I opened a ticket around the penultimate day regarding the issue, and they politely told me to wait until the game is out as they couldn't do any testing since the beta was over, and to do something that I had already done before. Nonetheless, I followed their instruction and am waiting for a response. It seems like it's related to texture quality, but crashes still happen even if it's set at the very bottom, so I really have no idea why I crash so much. There are no error messages either, just spontaneous crashes. I do notice that I get extraordinarily bad performance in denser areas though. Particularly Flatwoods, and around Charleston. Some of these aren't don't even really seem that detailed, but if I run the game on high texture quality, it'll like stutter almost every time I make a turn, or move.
Came back from quickly testing that expansion mod. My gear is I5 2500k OC'd @ 4.0GHz, 1333Hz 32GB RAM, 980Ti slightly OC'd, FO4 and Mod Organizer 2 Profile on an SSD. I get 30 fps minimum with it installed when looking out of a vantage point of the whole city in the mod-affected area. Without the mod, I get ~44 FPS minimum, from the same vantage point I took the previous number. (inaccessible via vanilla means, so I TCL'd to reach the same spot and view the entire city) From the very quick look of the mod i took, it really gives Diamond City the feeling a city in a game should give you. Take that for what you will. Personally i think it's worth the FPS loss for a more lived in city, as I don't have the best of builds. Although I will remove the mod if the added content is... bad, to put it bluntly.

On a technical level or just "we thought it would be cool to make a game like this"?
