Fallout General X - V38 - I Could Make You Care About FO76

Obviously use at your own risk.
I hate how Bethesda treats mods like it's nothing but crazy wacky stuff that players won't necessarily want
no you stupid fucks, a lot of it is stuff that should've been in the base game
I mean, okay. I'm just expressing that I don't like that aspect of it lol. Really hoping that when private servers and mods arrive, someone will fill up some towns with NPCs just to make things feel a little more alive. It's just kinda hard to be motivated in quests when you know you're just on your way to another holotape imo.
One change I'm really liking though is the perk card system. It's really cool that you can hold on to perks and swap them out whenever you want, situationally. I roll around with some perk that gives me more loot 99% of the time and then swap in lockpicking when I need it. Adds a nice layer of strategy to the game.
Hard to tell for myself since I don't have the game, but is there enough holotape dialogue that you could just chop it up and have a mostly-voiced version of the character?
I'd honestly be fine even if there's a few silent lines to tie together a mostly there NPC
There are some actual NPCs with full on dialogue in the game, they're non-human obviously, but they're there.
Eh not really, it's all pretty "narration" type stuff, people intentionally talking into and acknowledging it's a holotape. The one saving grace for the holotape situation is that the voice actors and writing seem better than usual for Bethesda. Early on there's some country lady in a survivor tape and her voice actor is really good, same with the Overseer.
Just to cover the basics - Run in fullscreen not the default borderless window mode. If its messing up in dense areas consider dropping the culling distance for objects.
If all else fails hit up reddit and check some of the config changes you can make, most don't do a lot but a couple things like turning grass off are huge for performance.
For the bad performance in towns try updating your drivers and / or lowering textures to medium. I had the same thing, it was literally unplayable in Morgantown, but I did both of those things at the same time and one of them worked. I'm not sure which though since I haven't tested it with textures back up on high yet. Hopefully it was the driver update that helped the most and I can try turning settings back up.
Has model extraction from 76 still not been mastered? I need those Vault Suits and the pip-boy
The guy behind NifScape got it working but is refusing to release an update for it because reasons.
Just witnessed my first nuclear launch, it was pretty cool. The entire server spawned around Charleston to watch it go off.
The pump action is so satisfying to use.

this guy made mods that add Boulder and Denver to New Vegas. i'm not sure how good they are though.
I've played through them both and I found them pretty good.
Double barrel is equally fantastic if you slap on the doom soundtrack and pretend the scorched are imps
Ok I did a bit more testing with the PA core reset.
Basically what happens when you relog when in a PA frame, it makes the core in the frame go to 100%, in its inventory.
I recommend using this exploit to reset all your cores before they actually fix it because this is fucking useful as hell.
TIL: clipboards can be scrapped for springs
I will forever be mad it's not in FO4
Yet.
🦀You will never get non-modded shell by shell reloading in fallout 4🦀
Feels close enough to fallout to post here.

Or in 76 either. The lever action rifle still loads 5 shells in one animation instead of reloading one at a time like the pump action shotgun and single action revolver. Bethesda has no idea wtf they are doing with weapons.
Also yikes those single-action revolver animations. I liked the new vegas ones better...
What? The pump shotgun loads in shell by shell in 76.
Do we have a Fallout/Fallout 76 discord or do I need to make it?
The games alright, but is put down on PC by lack of text-chatting, as most people dont own or use mics to talk. Fun with friends isn't even the thing here - it's almost the only way to play due to bethesda's incompetence.
I'll create it if I have to, sure.
My normal game group bought a guy a copy of Fallout 76, even though he was trash talking it through the beta and refused to try the game despite being offered a beta key for free. He claims to be a hardcore fan of the series.
The entire time we played with him was a nightmare. He barely specced into melee, and then was running at everything head first only to die. Pulling high level mobs onto people, closing doors behind people and getting them killed. But of course when he died from running into a horde of Super Mutants with a machete it was the games fault because it's buggy and completely not his own fault. He passed up just about every terminal and holotape that we saw and didn't read any notes despite being a 'hardcore fan' and didn't really understand the significance of West Tek being in WV and using the town of Huntersville to test out the FEV, and didn't understand a thing when we figured out that there are FEV Pumps in the Lake on the other side of the mountain range with a Super Mutant Behemoth in it. Instead he kept going "Just like that Behemoth in the lakein Fallout 4, right guys????" Then continued to complain about how badly the game was optimized when he was playing it on an old CPU and a 780ti.
I've been seeing a lot of this type of behavior and attitude towards the game. I know it had some bugs, but a lot of the hate is just annoying, or unfounded. I wonder how many of these hardcore fans that have claimed to been playing since Fallout 1&2 are people who picked up New Vegas after it got pretty popular or got on Fallout 4 after Skyrim and simply glossed over the wiki.
That guy sounds like a jerk, but a lot of the distaste for it is definitely not unfounded. It's a very divisive game to most fallout fans, you're either going to love it or you'll hate it. The multiplayer aspect is a big game changer to the core gameplay loop. I mean, an example I could list right off the bat is related to your story - a lot of people simply cannot interface with the holotapes/terminal/lore because of all the noise going on non-stop, especially if you're playing around/with other people.
Oh that's real fucking funny, you point Fallout 76 to install a directory expecting it to make a folder in that directory like everything else.
Yeah no it didn't do that

This is why installers should always give a preview of the file path before confirming.

I do want to pick 76 up but the pc version is concerning me with all the hacks ect that have been popping up. I'd consider the xbox version but I've heard performance is poor even on the X
