I really wish bethesda would handle losing connecting to the server differently. Instead of fully kicking you out of the map (and possibly losing anywhere from 0 to 1 hours progress) I think it should temporarily shove you into a "local" instance as it tries to reconnect, or connects to a different world instance. Yes it would still cause an issue of randomly respawning monsters, but it would still be better imo
Dear god... Todd can influence our dreams now?
In regards to the lore, I just want to say that I find it pretty okay in Fallout 76. Like, I went into Fallout 76 ready to tear the lore apart. It is ridiculous, through and through. If you've been keeping up with the thread you probably know I'm not a fan of 76 in general. But I thought the writing was mostly spot on with 76, at least a major step up from Fallout 4. Unfortunately, most of the straight-up quests have awful writing, having to account for overly gamey/online mechanics. But the lore you can gleam from the holotapes, the terminals, the general feel of the world. Again, I want to state, it is ridiculous, but it's a very consistent version of Beth's brand of Fallout. It's actually a really fun look at the recent post-war world that is absolutely drenched in dark humor, with really well placed bits of serious drama here and there. When I first went in I was raising my eyebrow at nearly everything, doubting whether or not Beth thought it through. Then I looked at the official Fallout timeline and realized, until now, no one has really thought this time period through yet. Like the east coast, it was a fresh canvas of the lore for Beth to paint on, but unlike Fallout 3, I think they really nailed it this time. Just an example of what I'm talking about, and I'll spoil it just incase anyone is picky about it, but the whole nuke mechanic, which I absolutely derided for being really inappropriate, ties in really nicely with the overall 'plot', where frequent nukings of the schorchbeasts nests are necessary to prevent them from over-breeding and overwhelming the surface. I mean, of course, that means sense. It's only 20-something years after the war. There's no NCR or BoS or organized force to take these things down. The nukes are a desperate measure by everyone who uses them. Like, I'm not squealing like a fanboy that 'beth finally did it, they got their writers in line and it's the best fallout since new vegas', I'm still really personally let down by Fallout 76. But when the writing gets a chance to shine in Fallout 76 - as seldom as it is - it does indeed shine.
Yeah, with surprising restraint, the BoS presence in the region is very minimal. At least, from what is known now. There might be more to discover in the game, who knows. It's not exactly a spoiler to say they're all dead/gone, but it highlights beth's commitment to the consistency in the writing here. Sure, there are no human NPCs because of the mechanical desire to be online. But the writing absolutely adapts to that in stellar ways. Example being, every single faction is fucking dead because Appalachia fucking sucks. It makes a good excuse to scrub the world clean of NPCs, but it also allows for pretty powerful moments, like when you realize even Beth's brand of the mighty brotherhood of steel couldn't survive the region. For once, a Fallout game gets to properly wallow in utterly depressing, 'war-never-changes', 'all-hope-is-lost' storytelling that the current timeline doesn't allow for much of anymore.
The reason there are no humans is because they either all turned into scorched, were petrified by the same virus, or were killed by everything else.
I will say though, Beth really needs to fix their 'raider' problem in their writing. You know, that vague, ever-present group known as the 'Raiders?' Present everywhere, utterly organized. Who are they? What motivates them? How do they incur such impressive numbers? Most importantly, what the hell are they doing in Fallout 76? They're usually this ominous, nameless class of enemy in Beth Fallout's games, even Fallout 4's raiders pretty much ended up just being different raider classes instead of feeling like proper gangs. In Fallout 76, they're fairly-scarce bodies in gameplay, and in writing a completely unexplained force that once existed in the region to terrorize it's denizens when convenient. Who the hell is raiding when the air can still melt your face off? Were they all fixing to become ghouls?
I lost my loot because I died then got disconnected. Feels bad.
They will also re-spawn if a new players enters the area.
In Fallout 76 they're actually a group who decided to call themselves "The Raiders". They're made up of 3-4 different groups with different gimmicks. I can't remember their names now, though.
Bethesda's understanding of Super Mutants and Raiders specifically seems to be that they are predestined to come into being wherever you go in the country, always naming themselves appropriately and appearing very consistently. It's like FEV was distributed to every single major urban center for at least one shadowy company to experiment with that turns people into Super Mutants, who all come out of the vats with nametags. And then, also, a lesser form of FEV was distributed that only turns people into Raiders...also with nametags. "HELLO, My name is RAIDER #6259"
at least the FEV in West Virgina was actually released by the company that made it, and not Vault-Tec
Yeah, it's similar to Gatorclaws in Nukaworld. "I'm a rogue scientist that discovered this amazing prewar thing and have decided to use it to... oh no its eating my face."
The Scorched Beast are FEV Mutants as well. Before anyone says anything about, make sure you go read the terminals in the Enclave Bunker after you've reached General. There is a WHOLE lotta context needed. Yeah, I have to go back and re-listen to holotapes and stuff when I'm out of party so I can take it all without the noise, but what I'm saying it seems like there is a lot of people pretty much forcing themselves to dislike the game and not even give it any room. I was staunchly against Fallout 76 before I was given a beta key to actually check it out. It has some problems, and some horrendously broken problems. But this blind hate that people are getting from second hand experiences and ignorance is getting overwhelming. I wish they'd do something else with them, rather than every single raider being a shitty Mad-Max clone with a corpse or head impaled somewhere. Because they're all absolute psychopaths apparently. Bring back the NPCs from Oblivion who'd try to rob you.

Forza Horizon 4 does this pretty well, there is no interruption in gameplay. I really hope bethesda supports 76 for a few years so I can pick it up later when it's more fleshed out. Hope everybody who got it is having fun with it. If you aren't having fun, start using the pump shotgun, its pretty satisfying.
So if you've ever wondered why you've randomly received 5 cans of beef stew: https://www.reddit.com/r/fo76/comments/9xkz14/are_5_cans_of_beef_stew_appearing_and/e9t3uzk/
Been having disconnects every half hour playing this today, it's getting really frustrating, games been out 3 days and it's already falling apart.

Even Kinggath is getting into FO76 modding No More Nameplates at Fallout 76 Nexus
Fucking hell, I was wondering why that kept happening. And always seemed to happen when I was in combat, with 1 item away from being overencumbered
Looks like we might be getting stash increase, push to talk, and an FoV slider next month. https://fallout.bethesda.net/article/48zcUmxp7O2se0CIMMwmGg/fallout-76-upcoming-features-and-fixes-november-2018
Shh, don't say that, Beth might turn him into a scorched.
Jesus fucking christ I just ran into mothman randomly, scared the living shit out me.
Sp I went into Wendigo cave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-_hJthMgtM
Just assembled the pipboy 2000 ml VI kit that Bethesda sells. I dont know if I got a weird batch or anything but this is The cheapest plastic Ive ever seen. No threads holes, so there's plastic breaking inside The pipboy and some of The accessories to put it together broke whilst assembling. Took me and gf about 3 hours to asssemble. Do not buy this thing if youre going to asssemble it. Quality wise its not much better than The pipboy edition from fo4 unfortunately. Really disappointing. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/164588/15a1ffd0-5cc4-49c4-ab61-3a7175c24e0c/01136642-4FE5-4A96-B0E5-0EFAA8674C12.jpeg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/164588/8fe07f73-93bd-4dd0-aa1e-6c85fa36bc72/0D61D479-3B31-4990-B033-5F926D881E2E.jpeg
The Wendigo cave was great, FO4 was seriously lacking areas like that, caves stuffed with nightmare fuel were a dime a dozen in FO3.

Good because this has been my life for the past two days. https://i.imgur.com/JErk3QY.png
How do people feel about the perk cards that give extra DR when carrying junk or for each point in strength? Personally I've not bothered because I didn't think it'd be worth it and have been picking up more "useful" cards. Not that it's too difficult to survive as is, I tend to play more conservatively but as I understand it's not hard to run up to each enemy with a shotgun and wreck face.

Just now however I found one that was level 1 and had purple eyes. Lightly slapped him with my gun and he keeled over dead
