Fallout General X - V38 - I Could Make You Care About FO76

If the launcher even lets you download the update. I had issues with the download timing out while also stopping me from doing anything else online.
And then when I went to reinstall the launcher to see if that would help, the uninstaller asked if I wanted to delete all games and files, but deleted 76 anyway when I said no.
Reminds me of those monster mods for Fo3 that straight up stole Stalker models for new monsters
Going back to Fallout New Vegas right after Fallout Nevada was a mistake

Now the entire Mojave Wasteland Worldspace feels cramped
Honestly even removing the multiplayer stuff from it, it's just a better game imo. Bigger and more interesting world, better gameplay (sans speech being cut ), new items and creatures, and markedly better lore and story.
Agh, I'm so frustrated. I really am enjoying this game, but the repeated crashing I get is just making it impossible to play, and it's giving me genuine buyers remorse knowing that it can't even seem to
function properly at times. It's smooth most of the time, but then it'll spontaneously crash, and crash often. Often regardless of my settings.
I took a look at my event viewer to see what might be responsible at the time of each crash and up at the top it says
Faulting application name: Fallout76.exe, version: 1.0.1.13, time stamp: 0x5bec63f1
Faulting module name: d3d11.dll, version: 10.0.17134.407, time stamp: 0xd97e0602
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Hell if I know what any of it means, but I wonder if it can even accurately point to what's causing all my crashes, but it's what happens at each crash.
Also feeling a bit of buyer's remorse. The game itself is fun but it's like they didn't even test it. So far I've encountered two broken quest lines that I can't progress. Stuttering constantly regardless of settings, random crashes, buildings not loading in, ghouls sliding around in t-pose, enemy AI suddenly breaking and becoming non-responsive, the list goes on. The performance is very inconsistent so I don't think it's my hardware. On fresh restarts, the game runs at 60 fps with barely any stuttering, it just gets progressively worse.
*audience gasp*
And still no text chat.
This patch improved the crap out of the performance. Not only that but memory usage too. Previously I couldn't use high textures otherwise I will stutter and freeze all the time.
Also my friend told me he had 144fps running and we compared running test and it was stable. Can anyone test this? I have hard time believing him. I don't believe they fixed fps tied to physics in just 1 week.
Tip: Do not reset your launcher if the installer is going slow unless you want to redownload the whole patch
It hasn't been a week jesus.
They did indeed fix it. Lockpicking and physics are no longer fucked up by high FPS. I'm playing over 100FPS and everything is completely normal.
I have no idea how they did it, but that's actually a surprisingly big change.
They reverted it. No longer locked at 63 or whatever it was. I'm pretty sure I saw my FPS over 180 while looking at the ground too.
Still not incredibly well optimized, but it's a big change.
Yeah I'm running above 60 now. Surprised they actually fixed it that quickly
wow what the fuck? if only they'd backport that fix to all of their games so we can play them at 120fps.
Hotkeys: The “Take Photo” hotkey can no longer be rebound and is now tied to the space bar on PC and the A button on controllers.
... Why?
Yea I don't understand this, there was no mention of what they did in the patch notes. In one week this game went from worst performing Bethesda game to the complete opposite. I've only been running around in the ash region so far but there's been no stutters even after switching from now to high, still running over 60.
Right but not having text chat in the first place is incredibly stupid. I can't understand defending them in this case, it's a basic staple of any PC game. Having to listen to everybody eat chips and yell at their mums is bad enough but when literally the only way for me to communicate with people when I don't have a mic is fucking emotes that's pretty sad
holy shit, they're actually trying to sell facepaints seperately
how out of fucking touch can you be
You can turn off voice chat if you don’t want to hear them
Yeah I know, and trust me I have done a few times, but the game replaced it's written characters with humans so I can create Fallout experiences with them, and if the solution to listening to Jimbob talk Trump politics wiht Uncle Elias over his open mic is to just disable speech altogether that's pretty lame. Yes, the game has only been out a few days, and yes it's in the works, but how fucking incompetent do you have to be to not think of that beforehand. That said, I wouldn't mind open mics on private servers because then I'm not too worried about the people I'm playing with being morons
I think what gets me most is that it's such an awful series of first baby-level time mistakes. Like I know ESO is a different company but did nobody think to ring them up and get some pointers before hand?
I don't see the problem.
So how's Fo76, in terms of stability and fun? I might pick it up sometime if it's fun to explore.
Also I got to thinking today, how would a co-op actual installment (not a spin-off like Fo76) be? The only way I could see it being done would be for inconsequential quests like "Go kill [x]" or "Go get [y]" (Much like how Fallout 4 is) where a buddy can join up with you or just have a free roam. Because complex multi-ending quests and factions like we see in FoNV would get rather annoying when I'm talking to Cmdr. NCR Guy then the next thing I know his head turned into a red mist and bits of brain because my sidekick went mental, possibly ruining future quests with said faction (although it would be fun to go a massacre spree wiping out all human life with a friend).
Lmao, now some of my weapons are breaking instantly after they "fixed" it when it didn't before
I suppose I'll have to wait 2 weeks for them to try and patch it again.
If not incompetence, what logical design choice would there be to not include a basic multiplayer feature that 99% of PC games use? Proximity text chat can be a thing, same with turning it off completely if people think it would ruin immersion
Can't really recommend it in its current state unless you're really into these kind of games. I'd recommend it maybe after a few months.
Main problem is that the community just can't fix all of the oversights and bugs. Some of these are horrible and Beth has been way to slow to roll out any fixes. Some issues have persisted since the first open beta test nearly a month ago which is unacceptable.
Oh I agree it should be included, but they already explained why they didn't. It's a dumb reason why.
According to a mate of mine, some of the issues have persisted since fallout 4.
Bugs that were "patched" in fallout 4 fan fixes are still present in fallout 76.
Im surprised the level of open hostility towards anyone that wants to pvp shown on reddit, you even mention you like pvp and your guaranteed to get someone snapping at your heels as if you'd just openly stated your political views. (though isn't that in itself some kind of weird meta pvp )
