I never actually got to touch the beta, outside of looking at the files. It just became impossible between the size of the game/my download speed, the horribly huge update size for what was essentially a bunch of minor changes, and how buggy the launcher is. I couldn't download the update because the launcher was just failing to download anything (while also stopping me from doing anything in Firefox), and then when I decided to redownload the whole game, it would just error out whenever it hit around 5/6GB.
Even if I wanted to get the game at launch, the launcher would have completely turned me off of it, along with any future Bethesda published games (like Doom Eternal). If Bethesda intends on this launcher being the platform that all future games at least start on, then there really needs to be a concerted effort to fix the problems it has with basic features.

Helping with Testing the Nuclear Winter mod. So far, it works great! Makes me want to play through fallout again.
Honestly, with the City of the Future thing doing on in the southern right corner, I wouldnt be surprised with it being a reused prop.
You're killing me here.
This rick and morty steam thing is actually why we can't have nice things like jesus fuck just stop
This stream is fucking killing me. This is worse than I fucking imagined. No one has any chemistry, there are no jokes being made because no one can find any. I don't know who Ninja and Logic are beyond just being "popular twitch streamers" but the both of them are like cardboard while Morty is just making everything more and more awkward.

Quick shot from the beta today, anyone else find that obstacle course, spent like 30 minutes trying to get to a little wooden tower it lead to and I gave up after abit, I need to know what secrets it contained betting it's a cheap note saying "Congratulations you wasted your time lol"
Oh my sweet god this Rick and Morty stream is somehow worse than what I thought it would be.
WHERE IS THE BANTER.
did they really think this would end up going well? being a writer and doing improv arent the same, theyre two completely different things and roiland isnt the latter. he would need to be good at improv for this sort of thing and he just isnt.
This stream is just as bad as I hoped it would be.
Besides the insane popularity of streaming and streamer personalities that plague this decade of gaming, one of the worst, if not the worst concepts to be conceived in this era of gaming is I honestly think there is having e-famous/celebrity streaming commissions that developers use to try and advertise and market their game. I just.. Don't get it.
I'd rather watch previews of the game than watching and hear some jackasses I've never heard of make funny comments and constantly talk.
It's worked before though! I mean my god, some of the bigger splash games on steam came out due to devs giving out free copies and sponsoring like a tournament or something
But this? This is awful.
how do you get this out of touch with your audience I swear
80% of the stream chat was people just ripping on the game and the stream. Love it.
What a stream.
I wonder what the highest level achieved in the Beta was.

so did anyone manage to find a wearable union cap? i know there's some for the robots and stuff, but i was trying to find a hat for most of this session.
i found like 8 civil war dresses, tuxedos, confederate and union uniforms, but no hats.
I got up there during the first beta. Nothing exciting, I think just a bobble head and some meds.
I hit the stash limit and my current weight is 800, a lot of it is fusion cores, missiles, and mini nukes. I've accepted that I'm going to be running around over encumbered.
Dude, I did spend 30 odd fucking minutes trying to complete that utter bullshit course. It made my blood boil because some parts, my character was hitting his head on an invisible ceiling and would only jump half a foot, then fall off the platform.
I made it to the horizontal swinging logs before giving up.
I noticed something that's definitely not helping the stash limit issue.
I had been collecting Pre-War Money, expecting that it would be used somewhere (doesn't seem like it), so I had about 300 in my Stash. Each weighs 0.10 units.
When I had it in my inventory, i went from 180 to 210 carry weight. All is well, 300*0.10 = 30 units.
But when depositing it into my Stash, it jumped from 330 to 390.
I tested with some other loose junk, the kind that aren't broken down into their crafting components. And it seems like while I was playing, any loose junk items (Pre-War Money, cigarettes, combination wrenches, etc.) were having their weight counted twice. When I would remove cigars, each weighing 0.25 units, the Stash weight would decrease by 1 for every 2 cigars I removed, so it was counting 2 cigars (0.50 units) as 1 whole unit of weight.
I'm not sure if it's been like that for the whole beta run. Regardless, it was making the Stash weight limit a lot harder to manage.
Interestingly, raw scrap and bulk scrap (loose screws and bulk screws, for example), were being counted accurately. It was only loose junk items that were bugged.
The bit i've seen seems like they told Justin Roliand to hold back, Justin has a fucked up sense of humor.
can't get too risque for a game series that used to have killable children
When Justin Roliand's idea of funny is showing a crowd of people a cartoon character exposing their asshole and penis, and then shitting everywhere, it would make sense for Bethesda to ask him to tone it down
no please, let him do that. sounds like a perfect metaphor for this game.
Anyway, since the beta is over and we won't hear from the game until release, I hope it's inevitable we see some backported things from 76 in Falout 4 sooner rather than later.
I wonder if the two games run on almost exactly the same engine to the point where you can pull off something like TTW does.
Pretty much all my hope for enjoyment of Fo76 comes from the possibility of backporting, or some sort of cracked/modded "offline" way to explore Appalachia. In fact, I'm banking on it so hard that I'm not refunding Fo76, hoping that the legitimate copy of the files will come in handy one day.
A full blown TTW style conversion/combination of the two game engines would be ideal. Modders figuring out how to host and connect to severs independently of Beth would be the dream. Whatever happens, I'm just hoping we get more than a few simple armor/weapon/creature backports.
Well, the source engine has better facial animation than the creation engine. Give bethesda some slacks, they are after all a small independant company trying their best to please their entitled community composed of nerd who are never satisfied with what they get and instead have to find negativity everywhere. Todd howard has good intention for the fallout community & fallout 76 really feel like a multiplayer RPG.
buy the game buy the game buy the game
Overencumbered in this game drains your AP fast if you're not slow walking manually. and once your AP is drained you're forced to walk slow until your AP gets to about the half-way point.
If you're relying on VATS to get crits and such, or have a better shot at faster moving enemies, it's a real hindernace to be overencumbured.
