Fallout General X - V38 - I Could Make You Care About FO76

To say the gunplay of Fallout 76 is worse than the original Borderlands is just ridiculous. That article reads more like a post from /v/ than a thought out opinion piece.
the gun play is essentially unchanged from Fallout 4.
I mean, if your FPS game engine can't handle having ladders, mantling, sprinting diagonally, scripted cutscenes that don't involve the vehicle being a hat for the player, and many other basic AAA game things, your engine might be showing its age. Also bugs, bugs galore.
Say what you will about the article itself, that's a pretty succinct and accurate headline. I've been feeling frustrated lately with the lack of actual support Beth provides for their games when it comes to game-crushing bugs, and Fallout 4, despite simplifying almost everything, managed to be even more broken in some aspects.
I'm pretty used to playing on Bethbyro now, and I thought I'd never say this, but it's seriously time for the engine to go. It'd be fine if they were pumping out shorter titles more frequently. I'd understand corners being cut at a fundamental engine level. But they're not, and recently, their titles have been getting very experimental. That engine isn't going to be able to support many more major overhauls, I imagine.
Are, you, kidding.
I can't understand their thinking
W H Y ?!
"People still buy our games so why waste money on developing a new engine and training our workforce to use it well?" probably.
I was really hoping some how they would actually choose to use id Tech to make Starfield and Skyrim considering Rage 2 is open world and on id Tech. The gunplay and animations in Wolfenstein & Doom were incredibly fluid. Also Rage 2 has vehicles and player abilities (woulda been nice to cast spells that smoothly in ES6.)
Sure id Tech games haven't gotten modder friendly tools to use but I think people would find a way to mod them.
Didn't FO4 fix both of these?
Or the fact that the games being made for the id Tech engine have better stories than what's on creation. It's become evident that not only do we need an engine change, we need a change in writers as well.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Bethesda need id to make a dedicated open world engine with modding capabilities as close to Gamebryo/Creation as possible for Bethesda Game Studio's games. They could also license it out to bring in extra money. idTech 6 is great but it isn't open to modding.
Rage 2 Doesn't Use idTech, But The Just Cause Engine Instead
Don't be rude to CreaEmbryo, it's been alive longer than you have.
Like a beautiful and.. misunderstood.. amalgamation of code, pain and frustration frankenstein-engine-thing that just.. just works.
It has feelings, you know? Well probably not without F76SE, but at least on paper it's capable of some level of sentience.
Honestly Beth risks so much if they switch to an engine with less modding support, the BethRPG modding scene is one of those unique things they probably couldn't recreate if they had even one title with low support for it. At this point sticking with the engine because it's familiar not only applies to the dev team but the mod scene aswell.
Just saw that there was a mod on 76 Nexus that swaps out the American flags on the Responders' uniforms for the proper Fallout universe versions. That's just being damn sloppy.
Oh my God I looked up some pictures and that's true. Like... the alternative flag is such a basic, easy to remember part of the series. That is, honestly, shocking even for Bethesda.
OOF
50GB patch incoming to fix the flag.
Oh god TTW 3.2 is out, go go go
Is there a list of changes?
It's literately in the thousands, I'll get some documentation, links for you guys
I laughed, then I checked it out
gamebryo came out in 1997, 21years ago.
So it's not older than me, but I didn't think it was only 5 years out.
Fuckin' finally

What weapons *can't* be traded in 76?
Trying to find out if I really need to Gun Nut 5 myself, or if I can just pay other people to max-mod my guns for me.
You can trade anything from what I've seen. You could just even drop it. Problem is, is that guns are level locked.
What major things are new in the TTW 3.2? I don't have a way to get it because my fallout 3 disc is miles away (and my laptop has no disc drive).
Honestly, just shows you how much Bethesda actually cares about the lore
Are DC Super Mutants still overpowered?

Someone got the 76 music files to work in Fo4
Has anyone found those muskets in FO76 yet? If so, how moddable are they?
I got several of 'em and scrapped 'em hoping to get new mods but I didn't get anything.
