I still really want to see a Fallout based around Colorado. Not only because I'm from Denver and it's always cool to compare, but because Van Buren introduced some interesting concepts and locations for the region. Dog City and The Boulder Dome would be really cool to explore around. I also feel like the open plains and sharp transition into mountains would be a unique new environment to play around with, compared to the 'forested east coast' environment that we've seem three times already (3, 4, 76).
There's so many good locales for a new fallout but we always seem to end up with the same thing somehow. Don't get me wrong, 76 is kind of different, but still the same vibe as 3 or 4. I actually wouldn't mind another desert theme like NV but that's probably just me.
Pacific Northwest would be killer, but that's too close to the original games for me to comfortable with, given Bethesda's constant retcons. But Florida, Texas, even a proper game in Chicago or somewhere else around the Great Lakes would be cool. Saying that, I just realised I can't be excited about a new Fallout anymore. The future of my favourite universe is entirely in the hands of a company that barely understands it. Man... what a bummer.
I'd like to see a Fallout New Orleans.
You spend the entire game trying to jump from one floating object to the next?
So I basically forgot that this game was coming out, but a couple friends reminded me and are pushing me to join them at launch. How did the BETA run on PC and does it seem like it will be a complete package/worth buying at launch? I'm hesitant to bite the bullet and drop $60 on what seems like a stripped down version of a Fallout game. Just curious about more informed peoples' opinions.
I'd like to see the engine handle that. It can barely handle the floating gunners town.
Are there any Fallout 1/2 "New Campaign" mods that have at least one companion that's reasonably easy to obtain? I want to be able to rush to them and get them ASAP.

Even in the fallout universe betta's are treated like shit :c
I think the area in between New Orleans and Baton Rouge would make a hell of a Fallout game, especially if they want to get crazy and include vehicles. There's a big, long highway leading into New Orleans from the south - the Lake Portchartrain Causeway, once the longest bridge on Earth. In New Orleans, you could have the French Quarter, the 8th Ward, a Diamond City-esque settlement in the Superdome. Baton Rouge could be a pseudo-Reno settlement full of gambling, gangsters, and mutated alligators. And then you have all the rural towns in between the two, the central crux - possibly the starting town/settlement ala New Vegas - being Hammond, Louisiana, a college town in the transitional zone between the two major cities of the Deep South. You could pull off True Detective Season One references, have an entire faction based on Louisiana Voodoo, turn up the Louis Armstrong songs to 9001 with Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans, have a replacement for Super Mutants in the form of Naga-like snakemen of both Timber Rattler and Cottonmouth factions, maybe have the plot crux be preparing yourself for an impending rad-hurricane. All of these are ideas that are way, way too good for Bethesda to ever put in a Fallout game.
Ok wow I might actually get some of these.
No ranger armor? Not even a basic riot gear variant? reeeeeeeeeeeee
It's a fish in a tiny bowl right below a lamp that could heat up the water.
you think they would have learned their lesson about the nuka-girl suit having a hood after basically the entire community got mad about it and modded it off
Was it in among the pictures you posted? The one in there was the Western Duster from Nuka World, which, admittedly, was a reskin of Preston's outfit. I definitely saw Piper and Cait's stuff though, including their unused extra bits from 4.
Doesn't Bethesda treat NV as the black sheep of the 3D Fallout games? They don't really make any references towards it, and the few there are is very vague.
In like press media, yes. In game, fallout 4 had a couple references iirc.
Well yeah, but that's why I was expecting a ranger armor in the cash shop! They have this extremely petty reputation about New Vegas that surely isn't entirely accurate of the developers and writers within. A cash shop, intended to sell the most gimmicky outfits in Fallout lore, is a perfect time to slot in the ranger armor and other NV fan service. Basically it's a bit of a missed opportunity and I dunno why they didn't slap it in there.
So you have to pay to be bald or look like a meth addict.
Its a common breed of fish thats notorious for being incorrectly cared for due to a myth that they can survive in a puddle. facebook/twitter is full of people buying them and sticking them in things like vases/jars and then wondering why 2 months later its dead.
They could just add that sort of stuff later. It's not like these will be the only items Bethesda will ever put in the Atomic Shop (unless 76/the shop does so badly it's not viable to put more up). They've already said that they intend on smaller content patches between larger pieces of content, and both of those are good times to add returning items, especially cosmetic armour/clothing. I'm expecting 76 to end up with a lot of stuff from other games as time goes on, if the Creation Club (having FO3 items, the AMR, and Shi weapon/armour paints) and the returning weapons in 76 are anything to go by. FO3 will probably end up being the primary source (especially if they want to bring back FO3 versions of items, like the combat armour), probably followed by New Vegas, then Fallout 1/2 and maybe Brotherhood and Tactics (if nothing else, I wouldn't be surprised if they add the Midwestern PA from Tactics).
hey folks! i refunded!

Me too, though it's not really a big deal because it was sort of always the plan, just to check out the beta. Turns out the purchase was entirely unnecessary because of the free codes, whoops I 100% plan to pick it up somewhere down the line, just when it's a bit more of an affordable purchase, and hopefully when private modding has come further. The game might be a mess right now, but it won't be that way for either. Either Beth or Modders will salvage it, I'm sure.
I refunded too. I had bought a physical copy, but now I have the digital version purchased so I can preload.
Wait so the servers are up already? I'm currently playing the game but I thought it didn't actually come out until tomorrow?
Oh whoops
Apparently PC servers are live early yeah. No patch I guess? Consoles got stuck with the redownload it seems.
Apparently my physical copy of the game won't ship till release day..... that's really weird.
