Fallout General X - V38 - I Could Make You Care About FO76

So yeah, the pc servers are just live. Maybe as a gift for all the shit we had to do?
Honestly I would be happy with it but I'm just damn mad because I have tons of tests this week.
They are up and my FOV settings still work.
Bethesda can't afford to remind 76 players of New Vegas, it'll raise their standards
I would like to make a perk for New Vegas but I don't know if it's possible. Once picked, it would make any equipped armour be treated as light armour and work with the relevant perks. Something similar to the Levity enchantment from Witcher 3. I've wanted a perk like this for so long because I love wearing the Elite Riot Gear, but it makes traversing the wasteland far too slow.
Is this perk possible to make, and if so, how would I go about it?
Ignoring the fact that there are NV references in FO4.
Why do people keep saying Bethesda don't reference New Vegas. It comes up all the time and it's flat out wrong.
They reference Robert House in multiple terminals, there's a New Vegas sign in one of the Pip-boy games (though it kind of breaks canon since it should be a pre-war game, it is still a nod to New Vegas). There's a continent between Massachusetts and Nevada, they're not going to have a lot of crossover. Hell, I just measured it on Google maps, there's 3,409.39 km (2,118.49 miles) between the two.
I always felt like this was a bit of a meme, because like lets be real here, the NV references in Fo4 include some stellar highlights like: nuka cola variants being ported, the las vegas sign making an appearance in a video game, and possibly vague references to a man name 'robert' existing and being a mighty smart fella.
Other references people usually note are just references to the NCR, and, y'know, basic fallout lore. This is all without mentioning that alien city, which is a neat reference to some, I guess, but they just kind of vaguely acknowledge that area of the world exists, and then plop a bloody alien city down underneath it. Boy, I sure hope the tunnelers don't tunnel into that one!
Anyway I'm being petty as fuck obviously, I just don't really see Beth paying any love to NV in Fo4 like a lot of people claim. In fact, the alien city is so silly to me and kind of makes me feel anything that happened in the mojave may be invalidated by aliens one day.
It's also hard not to note the massive disparity of references considering some plots from 3 are wrapped up in 4, characters are brought directly over, etc. I mean, NV is so far away from Boston that I don't really expect Boone to show up and start hanging out with the Soul Survivor, but really, are nuka cola variants and alien cities the best they could do? Beth should atleast embrace the riot armor. It's such a rad look, and we really need a step between gimpy vault suit and tank armor.

If Willhaven ever comes out I'll be way more happy then I am for 76.
I don't think Jack Cabot is meant to be seen as a reliable source of information. Lorezno is a crazy motherfucker himself.
Gonna be weird seeing all these unique looking models use the same 9 voice actors.
Hey man I'm not flinging any shit toward the vault suit, especially not the 4 redesign. Evergreen design right there. It just, as far as Fallout marketing/imagery goes, it is seemingly a choice between wearing a skin-tight butt-enhancer, or riding around in a car with legs.
I'm just saying, y'know, there's some room in the middle there for something. Some sort of medium armor that's heavy and bulky, but not fueled by nuclear rage. It would have to have a really cool and distinctive design, something that really invokes the rough nature of this post apocalyptic world. Hmm I wonder what that could be
Hey now. You can do both at once.
Huh. So, I guess all that shit about the huge update for launch day wasn't entirely true?
Or perhaps if you already downloaded the game in beta, we already have the update for launch already? Not sure, I just find it strange that we can play, and I'm pretty sure I haven't launched the Bethesda application to download any updates yet.
Ah, I really dislike swamp environment, I think they're boring visually, I would not like a Fallout New Orleans.
Personally, my favorite thing in the fallout serie are the more hi-tech places where you see some new technology, and technology everywhere, and glimpse of everyday pre-war society throught
advertisement ect. So, normally my favorite would be fallout 3 and 4.. the issue is that those game just don't explore anything and have very, very little lore and technology.
Also, I'd like gadget & ability to become a real thing someday in the serie. Get boring getting rewarded with outfit & weapon, why not have some true technology you can scavenge and use to your
advantage? Lots of thing are possible to spice up the fallout gameplay formulas.
They say his full name, Robert House. It wasn't vague.
iirc there's not actually a direct reference in the way of a terminal or holotape or any real in-universe acknowledgement. Only a terminal mentioning a Robert - no last name, but it's on the nose enough to be recognized - and Deacon having that throwaway access code line in Convenant. I wouldn't be surprised if I can't remember some other terminal that references him.
Anyway I think you kind of dug out the least relevant point of my post there
I updated my post, Deacon says 'House, Robert'
Whoa whoa whoa what the fuck I think you just flipped my sleeper agent killswitch or something, because I just remembered what you were talking about in a lightning flash after a paragraph of dumbfoundedness and I have this insane burning hot desire to smash shit.
Yeah, the terminal entry I'm referring to being particularly vague is something I didn't even pick up on until I was doing a bit of wikidiving before. See, Emogene has a few terminal entries in the Cabot house, and one of them mentions a man named Robert exactly one time. Not a lot to go on, but it does mention that Robert is 'telling her how bad it is', implying he might know when the bombs are about to drop? That entry is dated about a year before the War iirc.
Emogene being this immortal super woman, it's not hard to imagine her getting around with a few rich and powerful men in her time. Maybe she was some distant acquaintance to House in some way? A terminal entry dated one year prior to the entry mentioning Robert mentions that Emogene performed some sort of hack on the RobCo systems. You could kind of maybe piece together that this is how the two met.
I think it goes without saying that it's a bit of a stretch, but some people online seem to believe this is a possible reference. Whether it is or isn't, I think it highlights what I mean when I say that Beth could do a little more to reference NV.
F76 is gonna die faster than a bad meme
Deacon's line to Deezer is an indirect reference to the fact that House founded RobCo, something that I believe is only mentioned in the note you get when you kill House.
Fixer (something that only exists in New Vegas) is mentioned in a Med-Tek terminal.
An NPC in Far Harbor talks about losing a role in a movie because Vera Keyes (from Dead Money) got the role instead.
The slot machine in the Vault DLC looks almost exactly the same as the ones in New Vegas (this could be a stretch, but they look so similar that it's either intentional, or they used the exact same sources for it).
Quartz and Victory showing up in Nuka-World makes sense, and it's said they're regional favourites out west. Alongside that, there's also references to Nuka-Cola wanting to buy Sunset Sarsaparilla, with them instead making Nuka-Wild when that doesn't happen.
Like I said in my last post, there's the AMR in the Creation Club too, so it's not like Bethesda are opposed to adding more things from New Vegas.
Yeah, FO4 isn't full of references to NV, and there definitely could be more (like as far as I'm aware, House isn't mentioned in the Institute/CIT despite it making sense for him to be), but I don't really see that as a bad thing. I'm sure people would be complaining the other way if it had more overt references, saying that Bethesda can't make an original Fallout game and have to rely on things created in other games.
Besides, I don't remember NV having any stand out references to FO3. If I'm right about that (and not just forgetting/have missed things), why isn't that as big a deal? Surely there's not much difference.
Critical failure perhaps, but I suspect it'll still do well financially and population-wise.
oh, Bethesda shipped my game earlier than they said they would. Probably won't have it by tomorrow though.
Game is a broken mess, but its my kind of broken mess, I actual love playing it, even alone. Dunno why.
I had a ton of fun during the B.E.T.A. So I'm sure I'll continue to have fun with the game.
I feel like there are more of 3 in NV than of NV in 4, but its hard to tell since 3 and NV are built on the same version of the engine with many of the same assets. Is a gun from 3 in NV a reference, or just taking advantage of already available assets? Especially since they didn't use them all. A gun from NV that showed up in 4 would be scratch-made and purposeful, and the only one I can think of is the lever action rifle, if you want to count that.
Otherwise, NV had references to a split in the east coast BOS, ED-E was a big reference on his own, and then there's the Wasteland Survival Guide which was around the wasteland a few times. They also adopted the east coast version of ghouls but that's probably not a reference, really.

This is the only outfit I'll buy off the store. I wonder if I can make Todd's face with the character creator.
Damn. My order shipped yesterday and then today I finally got the tracking number saying it won't arrive until tomorrow anyway. That's unfortunate.
Isn't tomorrow the release day though? So you're getting it on time?
Ah forgot to mention it lmao. I did one day shipping and when I saw it ship yesterday I thought it might come in today.
