whats the point of a preload if the game decides to download 35gb when it releases

meh preloads always seem to fuck up for some reason, guess I'll just play it tomorrow after work hopefully.
It's a bit annoying how it works.
The preload only downloaded the base game, none of the DLCs aka the levels.
Once the preload period was over the DLCs were available to download for about 30GB or so - however, to get the Legacy Pack DLCs you have to launch the game and connect to their servers.
The legacy pack DLC download is another 30GB.
Very convoluted.
Let me ask ya'll this. I own GOTY Hitman 1, when I went to the store page for Hitman 2 it said I already owned the game. When I went to purchase the standard edition it said I'd be buying a copy that'd be put into my inventory. So I don't know what to do. Really weird problem.

Is there a demo of any sort for HITMAN 2? First game used to run butter smooth for me but some updates later performance went down the shitter. I'd rather know if the game runs well as is before I buy it.
There is free version on the steam page, I assume that's the prologue or training.
TM-Man runs like dogshit for me except on low too but I can run this on High textures/Med LOD/No SSAO on a 1060 and an i5-6500 3.20ghz at 50-60FPS on Miami. There's a few stutters when it saves or when it's visibly reading from my disk (HDD issue really, I don't have an
SSD) but the performance is otherwise rock solid.
It's good. It's really good. The intro level being a home invasion with an unexpected owner's return sold me.
People really love rage quitting in Ghost mode.
It is competitive after all. Best played with a friend as friendly competition. I played with my cousin and I found out damn quickly that killing non-targets deducts points.

Excellent, thanks guys. I'll pick it up some time and it sounds like I'll be able to play replay HITMAN levels without crappy performance too. If it changes in the meantime please say so in this thread because HITMAN post-launch issues were a kick in the teeth. I've played 186 hours of that game but it barely runs now.

At least you fuckers can play the full game. Mine only installed Hawke's Bay and Miami earlier, and it was at 51.1GB out of 51.1GB when the Steam outage happened.

To my knowledge only DLC suits and Levels and Expansions from 2016 made it over to Hitman 2.
The only other thing that transferred over that wasn't DLC was an Elusive target reward for a coin.
There are some changes to unlocks from the remastered 2016 levels.
Some notable unlocks like the explosive cellphone and the Card Bypasser from Bangkok cannot be unlocked in Hitman 2; and some items from Professional unlocks are now normal unlocks.
But of course to end on a median note..
