Except it isn't in any way and you saying that suggests to me you've never played SSE, or you think of all platforming that way.
You're more than welcome to point out to me where WoL matches aren't just basic matches with very minor-changed rulesets that have already been done as far back as Melee. Events had unique music for different stages where otherwise not possible, Events had uniquely-changed AI, events had map layout changed to be more of a challenge, as well as some boss fights.
Though I don't even know why you're trying to argue about my comment. It's entirely subjective, but nothing I'm saying is "wrong", just like I wouldn't say you're wrong for thinking Adventure mode is too basic and short, or SSE is too convoluted and bloated.
...yeah, I’m honestly surprised Sakurai even bothered bringing Cloud back if SE is being this stingy, I understand the whole “Everyone is Here!” motto but come on. They couldn’t gave us at least a couple more songs!?
I sound like a broken record, but I am still beyond shocked that Konami was very generous with Castlevania: 2 fighters, a stage, 35 music, Dracula boss, and as bonus Snake being back with his stage and more songs.
I don't get Square Enix.
We can have Final Fantasy XV cross over with Assassin's Creed, Tekken, and even Valve, port a bunch of games over the Switch, but somehow representation in Smash Bros is where the line gets drawn.
Konami is fucked right now and needs all the public goodwill they can get, is why they were so eager.
Meanwhile Square Enix has made enormous mountains of money from FF14 A Realm Reborn and FF15, and currently feels they don't need any help earning more with cross promotions. It's possible they're only fulfilling a contractual obligation with the re-inclusion of Cloud, electing not to go any further than what they originally agreed to.
Before Ultimate was fully revealed, I remember some discussion about how Capcom might block Mega Man's return due to some corporate idiocy. I think it's pretty clear now that Square is actually the absolutely insane one.
My guy don't ignore actual arguments or statements. I'm saying if you do not like WoL or you don't like the premise that's fine. Calling the devs lazy because they didn't cater to exactly what you want is entitled brat behavior no matter how you want to cut it.
The entire reason I'm annoyed is because it's clear that a LOT of effort went into crafting the battles and it's the exact opposite. I'm sorry if it's not thrilling for you but insulting the people that worked hard creating this much content because you didn't get what you want is moronic. Especially when you haven't even given it a chance or played it. Like, I could play it and hate it but I'm not about to call the devs names and stomp my feet because I didn't like it.
That's literally it.
Square is... Weird. They're the biggest Japanese game company that doesn't make their own console, yet they have very old-world ideas of how to run a game company. Even when they branch out into stuff like mobile, it's always in ways that are very safe, even by Japanese market standards.
They also have very little respect for their international divisions and acquisitions like Eidos, setting irresponsibly high goals for them with zero understanding of their audience, and then acting shocked when they can't meet them. It's infuriating, especially when classics like Deus Ex and Hitman are on the line.
It's also just as reductive to just say I was only referring to events.

Wow people have critisisms about a product and dont just blindly hype it as the greatest thing ever made.
Who knew.
You complain about literally everything, not even just Smash, you do this in the Overwatch thread too lmao
Learn to have fun for once instead of constantly complaining.
Well this saves me some time lol
I would've loved to have been in the room while the dev team was brainstorming the battle conditions for each of the spirits. It seems like that would've been a lot of fun.
its so weird waking up and listening to all this cool music.
Different games and series for all intensive purposes are dead or neglected, like Metal Gear, getting all this GOOD SHIT.
You should be. There are roughly 1300 event matches and an extensive singleplayer that encourages modifying and different combinations alongside of classic mode and the like. The game's singleplayer is insane.
I'm eager to see how they use assist trophies for Spirit Battles. We've seen Klap Traps and Wily involved in some of them. Wonder what else they can do with em.
I wish I could main sonic but he's just too fast for me.
Actually show of hands. Let's say they add the final dlc character and for some reason they can't add any more. It's over and all the devs will drop dead or something if they even attempt it.
Would you mind Assist Trophy DLC or is it something you'd pass?
Apparently, Ultimate is future proofed with 30 empty character slots, which would allow over 100 characters.
It doesn't mean they'll be used, but it doesn't seem like this game will be left at one wave of DLC if they chose to do that.
I'm sad they didn't make new codecs with just otakon or meiling but I guess they wanted consistency. Its still better than no codecs at all
Can Squeenix go bankrupt and their properties thrown into the public domain already?
The only way I'd want assist trophy DLC is if it was combined as a Torna-style DLC pack alongside playable characters or is part of character DLC for an unrepresented franchise. (Assuming assist trophies being upgraded and replacing their old assist trophies with different characters doesn't count)
????
I'm talking about how it spoils things like there being 3 WoL maps
I'd prefer they save their energy for the next product, or put that effort into echoes- assist trophies are cool but with no way to play them ourselves it'd be kind of a waste imo
Also a DLC question: Would people be interested if one of the new DLC characters added was a completely new type of Mii Fighter? I'd be interested in seeing what they could do with a fourth type. Maybe a blunt weapon user?
Mii Magician or riot.
its most likely refers to the size and scope of WoL, wich is shown in the very trailer it was announced. not about it being three different maps
