I'd definitely take this, although I feel like this character would have to be announced alongside a real one to prevent the fanbase from going into a meltdown.
The amount of love the DKC games got is warming my heart so much.

Massive spoilers but the game has placeholder references to several Rare-owned franchises, including Blast Corps and Jet Force Gemini, but not Banjo-Kazooie, suggesting there is something planned here with Rare IPs at some point.
I can't do it again... I'm not strong enough to go through it again.
at that point in the games cycle everybody will have assust trophies
it'll still be fun to go back and listen to them again after all these years
(Spoilers for WoL)
Nope, Galeem isn't even the final boss. When you beat him you go to World of Dark with a villain that hasn't been seen yet named Darkoh or Darz (datamine can't decide on it's name) and the final map is a fusion of them. It's why there's 3 cutscenes people are calling endings. WoD has it's own theme and everything.
Also, because this really isn't worth being considered spoilers, the 4 Square-owned spirits are just Cloud, Cloud in his Advent Children alt costume, Geno and Mallow.
Nothing else.
Yeah, it's been discussed here.
Bright side is Mallow Gang riSE UP!!!!!!
Wow, it's ACTUALLY a carbon copy of Final Fantasy 5's storyline.
Now if Square didn't have their prideful greedy head up their add we'd have tracks from that game too
The American soundtrack for Sonic CD needs more love.
I know people have spoken about Sylax and Porky being missing from the Spirits list, but I guess Deathborn is missing too. Black Shadow is there though.
Speaking of which, I've been playing through FF5 just recently. Great game, and definitely a mechanical leap forward for the series with its job system, but the characters aren't nearly as well-developed as FF4. FF5 also introduces the tired Final Fantasy trope of establishing a villain only for his motivations and personality to get completely subverted by some random contrivance, something I also noticed was mirrored in After Years with the Creator.
Don't fucking do this do me.
Honestly, I'm genuinely astonished they even were able to get Geno/Mallow spirits. I was only expecting the very absolute bare minimum. Congratulations, Square. You managed to exceed my expectations by 200%!!
It'd really be nice if Square loosened their choke-hold on shit.
Some other juicy tidbits for spirits for the curious:
26 Castlevania spirits
Street Fighter II cast is also there BUT we also get Eagle (SF1), Dan, Sakura, Gen, Cody, Karin (SF Alpha), Yun & Yang, Ibuki (SF III) and Juri (SF IV). Really solid series representation even if the music is only from SF2. I'll guess that it was just easier to negotiate with Yoko Shimomura only than to go through all the different composers for later games, which is by no means a bad thing considering how many we got of her works.
All Mega Man subseries have spirits. 56 in total!
Big the Cat is a spirit
There are over two dozen Metal Gear spirits. The reason the Zero assist trophy indicates it's from Mega Man is because Zero from Metal Gear is a spirit.
Pyukumuku is a spirit
There is more than one Shovel Knight spirit and more than one Shantae spirit. Rayman is also a spirit aloongside the Rabbids.
Teleroboxer has a spirit. This is the first time in at least 20 years that the Virtual Boy IP has been acknowledged.
Elite Beat Agents and the Ouendan are spirits
Rhythm Heaven has quite a few spirits, including the Wrestler & Reporter.
It seems that every retired assist trophy from Brawl and SSB4 have spirits, including Game Freak's Drill Dozer protagonist Jill.
Kyle Hyde returns as a spirit. This is notable because Cing went bankrupt almost 10 years ago and it was feared that the series was stuck in legal hell because it didn't return in SSB4. This confirms that Hotel Dusk and Another Code are owned by Nintendo.
Golden Sun has several spirits, including two for Isaac (one of which is Dark Dawn), Garet, Ivan, Mia, Felix, Jenna and Matthew (Isaac's son in Dark Dawn)
Captain Syrup, Shake King and Princess Shokora from Wario Land are spirits. Count Cannoli is also a spirit.
Stunt Race FX has spirits. This is the first time since the SuperFX racing title that Nintendo has officially recognized it, though a remix for it was scrapped in Brawl and never revisited.
Kirby spirits represent almost every main title, including KDL2 and KDL3. Despite this, Zero, Zero-Two, Adeleine and Ribbon are nowhere to be found.
Yuyuki's Goku is a spirit, but is paired up with Chao in their sticker.
Andy and Olaf represent Advance Wars, but Sami does not.
Chunky and Lanky, Tiny Kong are spirits
Master Cycle is a spirit
Paper Mario has good spirit representation, including Mr. L and Kammy Koopa. Tatanga from Super Mario Land is also present.
Almost every Nintendo series I've ever known is represented. I see Metal Combat, Project Hacker, Hajimari no Mori, Muddy Mole, Chosoujou Mecha MG, Magical Vacation and Sutte Hakkun representation. The only omission of note is Cruis'n, which is understandable.
Of course Zero, Adelein, and Ribbon aren't present. Sakurai has always been biased against the Shimomura-invented characters.
Honestly, I was expecting big since Incineroar's purple alt looks EXACTLY like Big's color palette.
On the flipside, all animal buddies from KDL2 and KDL3 are there, even Nago, which makes this decision even stranger.
In terms of Mii costumes:
Isaac, Skull Kid, Takamaru, Dixie Kong, Ray Mk III, Saki, Nia and Marx are available as outfits.
so basically this confirms nintendo and microsoft have contacted one another for this game.
This isn't a spoiler right?

I have also seen stills of a boss I haven't seen any footage for (super duper spoiler warning), Marx, the screaming jester.
That "Challenger Approaching" screen looks super slick. Now if only we knew the fastest way to unlock everyone.
I'm sure they're going to have the "Play X amount of Smash" like in Wii U/3DS.
If I had to guess: if you unlock them in WoL by beating their evil version, you get them, like in SSE. However, unlike SSE, it seems like there are different paths with different characters, so it's entirely possible you'd only be able to unlock certain characters in any given playthrough (which is interesting, at least IMO). So for example, in SSE there was a linear progression and the only thing that changed was already unlocked characters being playable, but in WoL, if you go down one path, you might quickly unlock, say, Wario, Bayonetta, Game and Watch, Corrin, and Pichu, but the others you'd need to unlock the normal way, or playing through again.
There is some dingdong streaming the game on Youtube, I guess I'll link here but I don't know when Nintendo will decend from the rafters like the Half Life ninjas they are and kick the guy down, so good luck. The person is kind of a doughnut though, he mentioned in chat he isn't really good at Smash and only has a passive interest in the game. Also some spoilers as I'm watching back some of the footage.
It seems that when you beat Classic mode you get that character's Spirit, for example you beat it with Kirby, you get the Kirby spirit.
Ness was unlocked upon clearing Classic mode once, I would assume it's once with any character.
The credits are a side scrolling shooter with auto-scroll, they're also worth a squirt of piss this time since at the end they give you gifts (Spirits, coins etc.) for how many you hit
That's definitely one method, but at some point a Nintendo rep said that the average player could unlock everyone within a few hours, and it looks like WoL is going to (for better or worse) take ages. I wonder if there'll be a new challenger after every couple of battles or something.
Also, spicy new leaks from Vergeben regarding Minecraft: He says itwill be represented in Ultimate with a boss.
You should have seen his backpedal when he was told all the bosses have already been leaked. All he said was "yeah that confused me also"
Taking a complete shot in the dark as I found someone else streaming the game on Youtube, but I think it's Vs matches. Ness was unlocked after 2 matches and Zelda was unlocked after 4.
(Spoilers for all the victory themes in the game so far, please be mindful!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOPFzkCnrZY
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but what the heck did they do to the victory themes?
Not to sound ungrateful for this wonderful game we're being graced with, but I just feel like a lot of the songs were unnecessarily shortened. I can understand wanting the victory screens to be faster but in my opinion, It is not worth the cost of butchering Brawl's great soundtrack.
I think it would be alright with it if they just replaced the songs or kept the originals intact but this seems like a rushed compromise that really doesn't suit a game that's trying to pay tribute to the Smash series as a whole.
Fingers crossed that maybe they change it somehow, but I feel unless people complain (which really might be too much as this is a small part of a big great game) nothing will really be done about it.
Part of me hopes that this video is somehow wrong (it has some werid inaccuracies like having Chrom have the old fire emblem victory theme and Piranha Plant having the normal mario victory theme) but this seems in line with Sakurai's idea of wanting to make things like taunts and Final Smashes faster.
I think that idea certainly works better in gameplay than in music editing, but that's just me. Oh well, at least the rest of the game's music will be untouched.
"View an image of the fighter" sounds incredibly mediocre as a reward but I suppose itll do after winning Classic - it just doesn't feel as satisfying in all honesty and im all pro-spirits
