Have not seen the proof, but there are apparently 12 credit mentions to Rare in the code for the section that also contains music. Could mean 11 songs + victory as they don't credit Rare at all for Nintendo-owned DKC. No direct mention of Microsoft or Mojang in the same context.

I honestly think with all those things left over, and the game awards happening the same day, we'll see a Banjo in Smash announcement at the show as well as those spirits. pirahna plant isn't done, sure, but it's probably feature complete enough for the team to move onto the next character, which I think is either banjo or sylux (who would lead into a Metroid prime 4 story trailer)

Contrary to previous notion, apparently Cloud actually is in WoL. There actually was a 5th Square spirit found, as well. Zeke (which is also present in the spirits datamine, but was overlooked).
What? What's wrong with loot boxes and microtransactions? In fact, I can see alternate costumes and Mii outfits being perfect fodder for additional monetization.

There's a big difference between buying a costume that you can use instantly, and having to buy a item that gives you a chance of getting the item you want.
Literally use your brain for a second and you should know why this is a terrible, non-consumer friendly idea. You're talking about costume loot boxes in a game with 74 characters. You actually have to be crazy to not realize how much random chance and luck you would need to rely on for something you want, right?
Also I am pretty sure no one would be okay with an old, established game mode having to be paid to access.

maybe I am blinded by hype but given how successful the Switch is and how insane this game will be, is it over-the-top to expect this to become one of the best selling games of all time?

Puyo Puyo characters would look insanely out of place in a 3d game like Smash tbh, their artstyle and colorscheme works way too well for them
Eggman gets in but it's Mean Bean Machine Robotnik, and his entire playstyle is based around puyo puyo

As big as Smash Ultimate is, I very highly doubt it's "one of the best selling games of all time" levels of good. Fighting games generally tend to be a bit niche, and since the game was unveiled on short notice (March of this year, in an online Direct stream), it didn't have as much hype generated over a long period as games like Halo 3, etc.
