I personally don't like these colours. The GB one is barely passable but the UPS-man looks like someones first skin-mod.

Is there a list somewhere of all the stages in the game?
since ted cruz doesn't have a spirit, i'm guessing he's the first DLC character.
also he'll probably get the zodiac killer as an echo fighter
What's it going to be? Loyalty to your country, or loyalty to me? Your country, or your old mentor? The mission, or your beliefs? Your duty to your unit, or your personal feelings? You don't know the truth yet. But sooner or later you'll have to choose.
are y'all unironically twisting your panties about this, the game n' watch feather was understandable but its pretty clear they simply wanted a villager with the darkest shirt color and as it turns out it's also the one that is colored, it's just a coincidence.
Yep, people blowing something out of proportion
I don't think there was any ill intention whatsoever, and the fact that during development Villager's skin color changed makes me feel like this was simply overlooked. They needed someone with the ability to steal to be Tac, so villager was an obvious choice with Pocket/Net. All the alts have similar color schemes/genders to the spirits they portray, so they chose a male villager with a dark pallette.
At the same time, I understand this comes off as offensive, but I wouldn't demonize the company over it because I think the intention is the important factor here. I wouldn't be opposed to them changing the pallette, but then people might get upset that it's a white villager being a thief or some shit, but you can't please everyone and ultimately a day 1 patch to change the pallette is the best outcome to satisfy the most people.
i think it would've been really cool if this game's multi-man equivalent had a combination of all of the "multi-man" characters from every smash game.
My updated list, Top are my Existing Mains. Bottom are my Tryouts.

You know, something I noticed that I do whenever I think of potential DLC characters, they're almost always third party character. Dixie and Waddle Dee are really the only actual Nintendo characters I think of when I do.
I'll probably end up maining a combination of these:

Still having a hard time wrapping my head around my boy Richter making it in.
I'd love an Assist Trophy character pack with stuff like Isaac, Alucard, Waluigi or Gray Fox among others. There's just not that many high-profile characters left that I care about that aren't already repped in another way.
How do you people decide on mains anyway, I always think "this character would be cool to play", and the look at someone else and think "that character's also cool", then repeat this process for like a quarter of the roster.

It’s a shame really for those that joined the Nintendo Ambassador Program or whatever it’s called and aren’t able to get review copies because of these stuff.
fml I love Smash Bros, but am too broke to buy it atm
Looking forward to try out Simon though
Do you live nearby a mall that has the demo? It should be easy to play once the game is released.
I pick based on playstyle + if I just like them. Incineroar is my favourite Gen 7 starter despite its flaws design wise, and being traditional grappler focused as well is an extra bonus. I think Wolf's attacks are satisfying just to look at and to hit people with. I have no idea why I like the Miis so much, I think I just find how "general but quirky" their movesets are, they all have incredibly basic moves for most of their kit but then also have some really silly things like Gunner's fair and Brawler's silly ball toss.
It honestly feels like a force of nature that is just bound to happen with high-profile releases these days. I feel bad for people who want to review the game before it releases, but this is honestly something that might be unavoidable unless Nintendo gives a shit about making sure it doesn't leak.
Choose characters you like and go from there. I don't main ROB because i'm some robosexual freak, i really liked his projectiles in Brawl back when i was like 13 playing Brawl, played him and a bunch of other characters when i started getting into competitive in Sm4sh and Project M, and kept working to play him better. Before sm4sh came out, i had a list of ~10 characters i'd main, but by the time i started going to tourneys with a friend, the only character i played outside of the pre-tourney friendlies was ROB. I would not be surprised if that stays true when Ultimate finally drops.
Though, i guess it helps that i became integrated into the comp scene incredibly fast because of said friend.
