THE ANNOUNCER God, Xander's great (though I'd still like to see Manning/Harrington/Cashman options, too). Love how he handled the WoL section. Also I really hope we get a title shout this time; we haven't had one since Melee. That second one at the end of the video sounds like it'll be it.
Honestly I just think it's really stupid to think a jpg deconfirms dlc when DLC clearly has it's own rules in place. Like most people go "Rex doesn't have a chance he's a costume" but uh... Chrom has a costume too. Yeah it's similar/the same one from 4 but they made the concious effort to include it anyway (much like how I expect to unlock Isabelle's weird suit). People are writing up rules that aren't even consistant with the base game and I think it's better if they just... don't.
Japan has an extra-special edition of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which includes the game and 63 amiibos! https://sickr.files.wordpress.com/2018/11/smash_japan_bundle.jpg?w=780
At this point I'm willing to believe that Spirits do not deconfirm anyone simply because who would be left? They would REALLY be scraping the bottom of the barrel.
“School, Work, and Specialists” – Sakurai’s Famitsu Column, Vol... However, unless you have exceptional talent, being a member of the herd and remaining in your comfort zone, while at the same time doing fine work where you can display your own strength is quite difficult. Even though it’s risky, if someone has the will to break free from the herd, eventually they will be recognized by others. Specialists are the forces that change the world! …… working within their own circumstances, of course. Right now, I think it’s OK to be unsure about finding employment. When I was younger, I also didn’t think that I could make a game or anything like that. If you want to make games no matter what, then instead of worrying about this and that, you should take action! Even if you disregard job application requirements a little bit, if the work you enclose is appealing, I think employers will be flexible with you. In any case, companies are probably chomping at the bit for people who look like they have a lot to offer, or show promise. However! If the presentation of your work or interview isn’t good, then that’s proof that you can’t demonstrate your ability in the real world, so it doesn’t matter how good your work or skills may be. Firmly grasp what you alone can do, and please do your best to polish that. On the contrary, if you don’t have something like that, then this might sound harsh, but I recommend investigating other career paths.
Dude WTF Lubba isn't a playable fighter??? Refunding my digital pre order rn.
its safer to asume that a spirit representing a character is not the same as a spirit representing a character's element. If i recall correctly, Wiifit trainer's spirit in the original spirits trailer was about one of his attacks, not about the character itself.
people are too hooked on the idea of characters getting deconfirmed over every little thing. assist trophies are one thing but a png that gives you stats I feel like is pushing it. and even then i wouldnt be surprised if some assist trophies wind up getting "upgraded" in the DLC
Don't get that argument. There have been aspects in the past that were changed because the character was added to the roster. Charizard was a Pokeball spawn before he debuted in Brawl. Characters like Olimar, Wario, and Duck Hunt (bird) have been trophies before they debuted. Chrom and Inkling had mii fighter costumes before Ultimate. Daisy was a Peach alt palette (or just alt in Melee, with how far they went on her palette in particular) before being a character, and was changed in favor of a golden dress palette when she was added. Hell, Mewtwo and Lucas were completely separate trophies in Sm4sh before being confirmed as DLC. If they add a character, chances are they'll either remove the spirit or keep it in and retitle it.
Mewtwo and Lucas didn't even have their old trophies renamed. They were kept as is.
Sometimes I remember that Kid Dracula is in this game and I smile. I hope Simon fights Dracula as his classic boss but Richter fights Kid
Can we fight all the 400+ spirits? Or are there only select ones we can fight?
If I recall, some spirits will only be obtainable by leveling up, so my guess only the base form will be fought. 100% betting Simon and Richter will have Dracula as the boss but Simon will have Nothing to Lose playing in the background (Black Night when he transforms), while Richter will have Dance of Illusion instead.
Like 90% of the content in Smash Ultimate is legacy content, of course they're not going to cut costumes of characters that were made newcomers in this game. That's stupid. This is the same game that bothered bringing back another Link just so all characters would be in the game, the same game that will have nearly a dozen mixes of Jungle Japes because they refuse to cut any and they remix it every game, the same game with no less then 3 separate instances of Chrom (Fighter, Mii Costume and Final Smash). Redundancy is not an issue because all these things were added over time. On the other hand, when we get the Chrom/K. Rool/Isabelle/Inkling outfits in Smash 4 it was because we weren't getting them added in Smash 4. Don't get me started on the "uhh but they added a Samus outfit are they going to cut Samus???" shit, repurposing an existing model to work as a costume isn't some complex task and they even bothered recycling things like the unused 3D Flying Man model to pad out their Mii costume DLC.
Didn't say they were renamed.
I mean agree (I even mentioned it was carry over stuff) but also chill my guy. You sound desperate to de-confirm stuff just because of jpgs. In a series where we got a lucas trophy and a mewtwo trophy and they still showed up as DLC it's dumb to think characters can't show up because they have stock art in the game as a spirit when it's fairly clear Nintendo/Sakurai is just doing what they think would be fun.

Speaking of music, I've had Lifelight stuck in my head for about a week straight now. (Colors weave into a spire of flame...)
All of these great Bowser themes and still no Bowser's Castle or appropriate stage . . . . really hoping that's the one we get with Piranha Plant.
I think I heard that the PR statement saying we were also going to get a stage with PP was later updated to have the bit about the new stage removed. But, boy, a Bowser's Castle stage in Smash would be so great to have.
speaking of the plant, why does petey piranha even hold cages as weapons. that was a specific element of subspace emisary, does the character even exist beyond that?
Well, he debuted in Sunshine...
No, it doesn't. Petey Piranha's character was "first boss in Super Mario Sunshine, made of goop, attacked by butt-bouncing you basically". After that he appeared in basically every gamecube mario spin-off, most famously Double Dash as part of one of the two unlockable duos with King Boo (main antagonist of Luigi's Mansion).
On a non-ultimate-related note. Super Smash Flash 2 is getting a sprite overhaul for it's older characters like Pikachu and Fox, as well as adding Fountain of Dreams! (This is in addition to Waluigi, Rayman, Simon and Shantae coming in the near future) https://i.imgur.com/ZOKnJn0.gif On a related note, Project M is starting up development again in the near future under the name of Project+, with some of the old PMDT possibly participating! Though I'm not staff, you will likely see some things in it from myself, as well.
In the final smash the cages he is holding trap the players that he hits.
My guess is that Petey Piranha came back in his Subspace form as a boss in Classic Mode or World of Light, and they're just reusing him for the Final Smash.
Pretty likely if Galleom is back in the game as a boss, Petey himself has been spotted as a Spirit too so it's possible it might be something gained from fighting him as a boss. Smash 4 had new animations for Petey that went unused so he might have some stuff based off of that.
Damn good remix, my favorite is still from Super Mario RPG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZC3xLxkHYA
If you listen closely near the end, you can even hear a "It's-totally-not-the-SMRPG-orchestra-hit-section-I-swear" part to it, too.
it's not like that idea was pulled from nowhere lol. the only reason people were saying that is because the direct itself straight up said spirits aren't fighters. But clearly that's not the case anymore with these daisy and samus spirits, so who knows anymore
