I remember making my own Bowser's Castle stage in Brawl's stage creator, only it was based off of the keep in SMB. So the entire stage was just a staircase on the left, a spring on the right, a floating platform, and a floor made entirely of those blocks that fall if you stand on them for too long. It was unironically one of the best stages I've ever played on, things got hype as fuck
Didn't multiple people in this very thread explain exactly why the spirits are there? Because they represent different parts of the character, and not the character themselves. Relying on stuff like that is also silly when precedents have been set - all three previous games have had characters that also had trophies, even though trophies and Spirits are essentially the same thing. Samus and Mario/Yoshi specifically had trophies that weren't rewarded for completing modes. As stated, Mewtwo was already a trophy in Sm4sh and got to be the first DLC character.
yea probably, but I'm not keeping up with every post in these threads so I probably missed it lol. I know that was the case for the Wiifit one, but I haven't seen anything clarified about the daisy and samus ones, just speculated. I'd just rather wait till the game is out to find out for sure. And yeah I see people bring up the mewtwo and trophies point all the time, but again, the direct straight up said that bit about fighters not being spirits. With trophies, wasn't it just everyone making an assumption that it was proof he couldn't return? Hell if I remember lol.
To paraphrase - Samus's sticker is clearly the Gravity Suit, and apparently the Daisy sticker is named "Daisy (Classic)".
Ah yea I didn't know that then. That daisy one is still a weird choice lol but yea that makes more sense.
Do we know if any Rhythm Heaven characters are spirits yet ;~;
I'm almost positive I saw a chorus kids a spirit on the smash website's background. Karata Joe is also on there for sure at least.
So i've pretty much been saying this since they announced little mac, but one of the biggest missed opportunities is Little Mac not having Doc Louis in the background like the Pokemon Trainers Now that they've brought back Pokemon Trainer and he's still not there, hurts just a little bit They could even have codec-esque lines for him where he gives Little Mac advice about the matchup
I mean, clearly it's just build up to Doc Louis being his own DLC fighter.
I'm probably in a minority here, but I actually love seeing characters that aren't playable (that we all desperately wanted playable) as spirits. Mostly in a "Holy shit, they actually acknowledged they exist" kinda way, but still, I'm just glad to see they aren't forgotten.
That's how it *should* be honestly
Anyone else hoping they put Metal Gear Rising music in the new smash?
I would never say I want Lakitu as a Smash fighter but when I found out about the Lakitu spirit I could only think "heh, that's really cool." I'm digging Event Match mixing with Adventure Mode. I'm excited.
Why do people pay such a close attention to Tier Lists, especially with the game not being out yet? I feel like Tier Lists negatively impact a community and most importantly newcomers of a game, they see the character they *wanted* to play at the end of it and thus get discouraged, because they start to doubt their choice - afterall, why invest hours of hours into a character deemed ~bad~ - often ignoring that the only way a character gets higher on a tierlist is via people proving that said character isn't bad. It's like a snowball effect.
https://www.gameinformer.com/interview/2018/11/21/masahiro-sakurai-talks-piranha-plant-spirits-and-20-years-of-super-smash-bros Super Smash Bros. Ultimate includes substantially more fighters and stages than any other game in the series. Why did you decide to include so much content in this game in particular? Masahiro Sakurai: This time, I worked with the same company and same team that worked on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS titles. And in those titles, we were able to include quite a few fighters. So I thought, if we work a bit harder, we can make the dream of including all fighters come true, so we went for it. There will be people who might feel disappointed if fighters that appeared in a previous title are not included. I didn’t want any players to feel that way, so we worked really hard to make this happen. But what I learned is that regardless of doing our utmost, no matter how hard we try, and no matter how many fighters we include, there will always be people who feel that way. He also says he makes every game as "the last one" but clarifies he doesn't know what the future holds.
There's a new Tier List maker that looks pretty clean. http://smashtierlist.com/ If you have a minute show me who you're interested in playing as. Last tier for me should be more of a "Random button will have to select them" https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198848/979e4f97-acb3-46c3-8228-64e4db8cfc8d/Smash.jpg
Tier lists exist as a simple guide to show what characters are "good" in a high-skill setting and nothing more. Most tier lists are completely unrelated to each-other - Pokemon tier lists from Smogon are determined by how often the pokemon in question is used. Tier lists serve to satisfy a human's innate love for data and patterns as well as to quantify a character's power in relation to other characters. It's not impossible for somebody to be good with a low-tier character - Raffi, one of the best smash players in New England, mains R.O.B., a mid-tier at best character (in sm4sh). However, it takes a lot more skill and game sensr to get good tourney results with somebody like ROB than it would Bayo, or Cloud, and tier lists help make that clear. It's better somebody gets discouraged from playing their favorite low-tier charzcter than them taking the character into a tourney and getting clean sweeped. At the end of the day, tourneys and comp scenes are about skill, and tier lists help give that a tangible form for new players to better comprehend.
This is me with Mario RPG and Mario & Luigi content, as much as I'd love to have playable Cackletta I'd love to see her aknowledged in World of Light as a Bowser fight or just having the sticker, same with Popple, Mallow or Fawful. Geno might have a chance later bc Sakurai has always wanted him despite Square being a prideful overzealous copyright asshole but time will tell

I kinda prefer this one, but I've been updating my own personal tier since that one Alpharad video came out: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/241798/a5dc07bc-8baa-4b26-b776-fb8c092319f2/Ultimate Projection Tiers 2.png

Is that a Peashooter from Plants vs Zombies in the upper left corner?

my list https://i.imgur.com/pBHQVZe.jpg I didn't get any of the smash 4 dlc, the classic characters are by my experiences in melee/brawl
So this is pretty interesting- someone correctly linked a ton of smash info months ago, but no one paid it any attention. A friend of mine also showed me a screenshot of them leaking pirahna plant, realizing that people will probably be pretty mad. While it's an interesting leak, I'm a little sad about the news that testing at Nintendo is harsh, I had hoped that they'd be better. Ah well, still interesting.
Is there a template of this somewhere? I really want to make my own version
I've got no bottom tier, just characters I'm complete garbage at and cannot grasp in any way https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108653/caad6f95-1657-4566-a96d-a470b84cdce4/reggieiswatching.png
That's what they should be, however that doesn't change that people, especially newcomers, view 'em as the definite "yes/no". Further Tierlist evolution comes out of new blood picking up "low tier" character and proving they are possibly worth a damn. They have purpose as you said but from my personal experience and observation they just negatively influence newcomers and sometimes even the community, getting swept by Kirby isn't just "oh, I got defeated by Kirby" but a "oh my god, I got defeated by a ~low tier~ character, wow..." // people playing low tier characters then develop this victim complex where they basically move all of the blame for their mistakes onto their character pick, preventing them from growing and owning up to their mistakes.
The only tier list you need. https://imgur.com/a/d3LsAJQ
