Something tells me that playing the villain protagonist in Deltarune will be a quite pleasant experience, if my decisions won't make a difference, thus meaning I am free of being punished for the potentially immoral choices.
Do you honestly believe that Toby will stick by his “nothing you do even matters” schtick? I don’t. Toby is some incomprehensible being of pure incomprehensibility. I honestly both expect him to completely defy this message or enforce it to insane logical conclusions.
It is entirely safe to say that if you do stick to your original plan, you will have a bad time.
then again it's very possible he realized from undertale that making essentially two-three games in one is a lot of work, and deltarune is such a jumbo project that he knows he can't do it that way or else it takes a lifetime

Maybe it won't affect the story or ending, but I think choosing whether to fight or act will affect the difficulty.
Certain enemies will probably be easier or harder depending on what you choose to do.
