the fallen humans and kris are intentionally blank slates for you to project on they are, very literally, whatever you want them to be or whatever you are there's no point trying to push a "canon" interpretation of their gender or sex, because there isn't one. insisting they're anything, even firmly self-identified NB, is missing the point entirely.
Isn't the whole point behind Kris that they aren't you and already have pre-established traits, though? I think there was something about how the receptionist in the hospital liked Kris' piano playing, while trying to do it yourself just results in an ugly noise. It might just be a joke about the receptionist's tastes in music, I suppose.
That's precisely my point; I'm not insinuating that there should be a "canon" interpretation but rather that everyone probably has their own idea of Kris's gender. I was just interested in what people's ideas were. Dashing people's speculations and interpretations of a game's characters in a thread made for that game because it isn't explicitly stated isn't very conducive to discussion.
that...is a valid point, actually. if Kris breaks the rule established by Undertale, I'd lean pretty heavily toward a "him" interpretation based on Kris' appearance and mannerisms. iirc, however, Kris is never referred to as he/him in Deltarune, keeping with they/them or gender-neutral pronouns whenever mentioned. "Aren't you Asgore's kid?" instead of "Asgore's son", "Asriel's brother" sticks out in particular.
I've recently had ideas that Kris's status as a creepy, quiet loner may hide some nasty things they could say in dialogues (even to Susie, who did consider harming Kris because she was fully aware the jig is up). If they wanted to, they could muster up a lot of things with the dialogue choices that could be present in Deltarune, such as to their classmates, or Lancer and his dad.

Papyrus and Toriel are both explicitly trying not to kill you, just subdue you.

If only dialogue options could help out instead of players only relying on persistence. Actions combined with words say a lot together.

Toriel can't kill you unless you intentionally run into her bullets. Papyrus only locks you up in the shed if you lose to him. You're never at risk of dying.

I know about that one, and Lancer will actually aim his bullets away if Susie takes enough damage. In comparison however, players themselves must stay persistent or give in to violence should they want to progress during Toriel's battle.

I mean, in't that the point of the true pacifist route? That you're becoming a kind of Monster Jesus by showing compassion, mercy, and love towards everyone, whether or not they deserve it?
From how I saw it, Kris absolutely abhorred the fact someone else controlled them. That's why the sudden struggling in the middle of the night and the whole "tearing out your own SOUL and tossing it into birdcage" happened. We're not really sure if they truly enjoyed it, what with the sudden curveball ending.
Well I was talking mainly about Undertale. TBH I haven't played Deltarune yet.
I usually just post my art in the discord, but I was particularly proud of my new Ralsei drawings, now featuring coloring! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223296/77850974-729a-47ed-a884-a36a00fece6d/Ralsei profile.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223296/a38c417f-99ec-4c9e-8e1f-d9303eedb9e5/holiday ralsei.png
When it comes to UT, I think part of the reason there is given you have the ability to reset time upon mistakes, do you have a responsibility to make sure no one dies since you can? Sans will address you on this if you kill Papyrus.

The point of the game 'guilt tripping' you was part of the meta-commentary of the game. It doesn't matter if they try to kill you because you (the player, not Frisk) are an omnipresent demi-god with the ability to rewind time to a point of your choosing, including but not limited to the ability to erase the world all-together. The point of the pacifist run to was to deconstruct the standard RPG mindset. The game specifically punks for you trying to play it like pokemon and game health by bringing HP low and then trying to pacify in its very first battle, and the ending essentially tells you outright that the entire RPG system that was presented to you was a complete farce designed to show how violent and destructive you are, not a standard RPG level. Chara is essentially the personification of the heartless gamer persona, just skipping through the game murdering at their hearts content whilst they save and load all the consequences away. Even Flowey struggles being given this power eventually becoming jaded and destructive as well. The pacifist route is abandoning that temptation and violence all-together and letting the characters go in peace, even if at the end of the day it means you never play again.

Funnily enough, Snowdrake and Vulkin can be insulted into running away from their battles via a specific ACT to them. …If only I could do that in a True Pacifist route but to make them get a much better grasp of how the world works. That is, Vulkin's only being helpful as a radiator, grill, or boiler, while Undyne's belief that anime is documentary is just because Mew Mew Kissy Cutie was such a dreadful franchise that mankind dumped it. (Didn't I mention that forcing people to be your friend is akin to taking someone hostage? Don't forget that Undyne has no idea that she's attacking a little kid, that is unless on a genocide where Frisk's actions require them being put down to cease the killing.) …And Monster Kid, whose behavior with Frisk is altered based on if they were rescued, left to fall, Frisk preferring to fight Undyne over saving a youth from a premature end, or fleeing (and searching for help.) If only one could choose what insult to use on Monster Kid to make them only slightly grateful for Frisk saving them, but Frisk also being able to take what they said back via things like "You asked me to, so I did it," "I have no hard feelings for you," "I felt horrible after what I said," or the like.
