Have the fixed the insane blockdamage zombies does yet? I read the patchnotes and didn't see it.
They did lots of balancing, rebalanced block damage, in one of the patches now wood is stronger against zombies, and changed horde nights and wandering hordes. I suggest you try the game and see how it is. Feels easier personally.
Allegedly it is better due to the introduction of power attacks and some rebalancing, but I personally haven't tried it
I think melee is better now. Still rather eh, and also even when I headshot zombies they took at least two to die with a pistol. Still, this is better IMO.
There have been two more patches released in these past days. They're churning out these patches like crazy.

Here's to A17 Stable coming out soon.
A17 Stable came out today. Let's hope now we will be able to play these worlds without needing a wipe longer.

Also @Gunner , is the server set up for B240? I could put it in the OP as the server to play in.
aw hell YES
I'm updating the server to A17 now. It'll take about an hour.
Nice, we could make an event of all of us meeting up in the server soon.
Oh snap. Just downloaded 2.9GB of zombies and game bugs. Of course the admin of the server I used to host 7DtD is ...very AFK at the moment so it's single player only for me right now. I'm going to check out Navezgane and then maybe the random seed I've used for years.
Seems the server hosting service has messed up the config on their end with the update. I'm stuck waiting until they update their config template until I can get the server back up.
What Alpha did you last play?
I started two years ago in December 2016. I put 100s of hours into a random gen world on A15. Then took several months off when the update rolled around because of course we lost our old world. I played A16 quite a on Navezgane. I've entered the same seed on A15, A16 and A17, with dramatically different results each time. I need to look more at the A17 random gen world I made last night. A preliminary inspection revealed it to be less loopy than A15 or A16, but the roads are still proper fucked.
Whatever happened with the server? Will it be back up soon?
The hosting service hasn't fixed their config still, and hasn't answered my ticket due to the holidays. With any luck, it'll either be up this weekend, or I'll get a new host
Is there anyway to mod the game or edit parameters to make the gameplay (in terms of resource collection/number of resources needed to build wood frames/etc) more closely resemble pre-A16 gameplay, where resources such as wood/mined rocks/etc were not as valuable but more abundant from mining/cutting?
I otherwise don't mind the difficulty spike, but I really enjoyed the game back when you could more easily build your own base instead of being encouraged to reside in and repair/spruce up an existing structure.
That really sucks if you cant build stuff as easily anymore, I was hoping to build a giant spooky manor this time around :/
Now that the patch is out, is the server any active?
The hosting service has just fixed their config today, the server now starts up. It should be good to go today. I'll let you guys know when it finishies world gen and is running
YES! Time to try it out.
Come on and join up!
They were working fine earlier today. They also stopped working for me now.
By backpacks we mean, when dying your backpack with loot doesn't spawn. You also dont get a marker towards it.
Looks like someone went and edited the server config (likely the site admin). I fixed the settings.
Decided to post some late news.
TFP almost a week ago posted a post (and put it in the site, in Steam, in Twitter) regarding the community's concerns about Alpha 17. https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?102621-The-State-of-Alpha-17
I'm glad they listed pretty much every concern of the community, that gives me hope that the final A17 build will be amazing.
We are gathering data on a case by case basis, balancing and addressing
the true problem areas most of which so far center around optimizations,
stamina, balancing XP for all play styles, land claims, increasing
zombie loot drop chance, zombie block damage, skill/perk balance and
gating and random world gen improvements.
I wonder why they don't spend more time on the starting customization. Don't Starve solved the "pleasing everyone problem" by having a world settings menu. That way they can focus on their own "vision" of the games balance, but everyone can tweak it to their liking. Especially since this system is already in place, just not very expansive.
I wish they'd focus a bit on that, because frankly the concept of customizing your game without having to deal with mods and text file tweaks is fantastic.
With how slow development is, it's kinda hard to speculate what they're going to do next as well. While it would be great to get updates focused on that and other general improvements, I'd be suprised if we got any being as each major update takes a super long amount of time.
Really enjoying the time on the server.
Also for those with performance related issues. I went from playing with 40fps on low settings to 70+ fps on almost the best settings. I found that some settings or a combination of settings on low will have a bigger impact on performance then higher settings.
What I did was toggle FPS view, and simply switch through every option and see what it does with FPS.
This improved heaps for me and the game looks so much better, in general everything is high for me except water particles/trees/reflections
The Fun Pimps laid out the framework in A17 for faster updates, they're planning to do 3-monthly major builds.
Accidentally crashed the server when trying to get the player logs. The server is starting back up, but it takes a while due to the big map. I'll try and get a world print out for everyone later on.
I just KNEW you were the one who broke it
