Time for a new thread about Wargaming™ 's boat combat game. You like shippes? You like grinding? Then this is the game for you. Semi-arcade boat action, free to play, if you've played World of Tanks you know the drill (but Warships is much better gameplay-wise and the devs aren't retarded). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jAaPu_FNLg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQcutrneBJQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_uzV8WwbFA https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/b67878b5-58e1-4a27-9055-84600788b8aa/shot-18.11.23_22.03.17-0168.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/cf75ffaa-6797-4e4e-b9ff-70c76f741947/shot-18.11.22_17.05.47-0444.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/4c92324e-1b44-417d-93e5-584687437e27/shot-18.11.22_17.01.02-0726.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/e25e1dcf-2dec-488f-8534-ef821a56a1b0/shot-18.10.15_19.42.31-0157.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/f037c768-6ce8-4621-9c05-5aa215072bd5/shot-18.11.19_22.13.42-0443.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/4654094c-71c1-44d8-9d82-d782c88efaf7/shot-18.11.23_19.52.13-0682.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/4bf855aa-a083-4bf7-bf65-46c264c9d5d6/shot-18.11.19_22.29.19-0673.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/89/4d44fefc-b094-409f-9b51-a588ac007133/shot-18.11.23_21.19.19-0662.jpg https://worldofwarships.eu/ https://worldofwarships.com/ https://worldofwarships.asia/ Make sure to register on the correct region since you can't transfer accounts.
And unlike WoT it has actual bots so you don't need to put up with the most toxic fanbase in existence to play it.
No XVM Ability to hide account stats Better new player experience compared to WoT Way more comfortable credit economy Devs that directly respond to feedback and are not afraid to majorly rework aspects of the game No premium ammo Every ship can damage every ship so getting +2 MM is not as bad as WoT Coop battles as you say Community is on the older side so you get less toxicity compared to WoT's hellhole Slower, more relaxing gameplay Much less powercreep than WoT - some ships actually get nerfed from time to time Way more sensible crew skill system, everyone gets sixth sense by default, after maxing your captain out he generates elite xp that can be used on any captain for free There's just so much better about this game than WoT it's not even funny. WoT is fucking archaic when it comes to a lot of the gameplay and grind systems, and their devs are braindead.
Wish I could run the game. Even with FPS boosting mods I get <20 FPS as soon as the smokestacks on ships start smoking
What kind of toaster are you playing on? If there's one thing WG games are known for, it's for optimizing both WoWS and WoT for the worst kind of Russian potato computers, so every Ivan in their farmhouse can run their games and pay them money.
I slaved together laptop with 8 gb of ram using a AMD Radeon HD 8510g that is paired withe cpu for some weird reason. If I could get rid of the smokestack effects I could totally get back into the game
See if Aslain's pack has anything http://aslain.com/index.php?/topic/2020-0791-aslains-wows-modpack-installer-wpicture-preview/
The thing is that the basic game formula of WG titles inherently invites toxicity and while WoWS has clever ways of subverting that, WoT just smashes a sledgehammer around to try and fix the problem, which is made worse by a community that rejects large changes. The only real criticisms I can make of WoWS in comparison are that the greater amounts of required xp alongside slower gameplay and longer matches makes progression slower and that the historical innacuracies are much much worse here, to a worrying degree. Oh and the lootboxes.
So I was able to get 30 fps but making the seas calmer with that mod pack. Now I'll try the ultra compressed textures from the other modpack
So have they implemented the carrier overhaul yet?
The third public test server for new carrier mechanics went up today. I'd expect them to be released on the live server in Q1 2019.
Always been wary of this. After playing WoT way back in the day I just assumed this was the same gameplay except with ships. I moved on to War Thunder but I haven't played that in about a year.

Ok, so I took the plunge and decided to give it a try. First impressions are pretty good which surprised me. I like how the game won't let you play random matches without first having completed at least one co-op match against the CPU's. Lets you get a feeling for the way the game works without you feeling like useless dead weight in a real match. Also acts as a way to let you test out your new ships without any pressure. So far the only thing that I've seen that really bugs me is the premium store. I took a peak just out of curiosity and the prices are fucking nuts imo. $70 for Tirpitz? $61 for Prinz Eugen? At least Graf Spee is a somewhat reasonable $30.
They're quite similar to WoT premiums, the higher tier ones tend to price gouge. Plus Canadian prices are a bit higher, so.. Graf Spee is pretty shit btw. Warspite and Arizona are great tier 6 premiums (and both are only 25 € here).
How is the Alabama? Kinda wanted to pick her up if I ever get the money 'cause I've been on the actual ship
I recommend Massachusetts instead. Mass gets the best secondaries in the game. Though you need a 19 point full secondary captain for it to become truly great. The main guns are more inaccurate as a tradeoff. Mass also has an improved heal that reloads much faster. Alabama has better main gun accuracy and since the secondaries are shit, you can instead build it into a survivability build. Thus making Alabama more survivable/tanky than Mass. But imo the Mass is still better because of the ridiculous secondaries. It's hilarious getting within 11km and watching the secondaries melt them. Better secondaries than Bismarck's. I have both and play both.
Secondaries are just fun in general. I'd love it if Wargaming would buff the German Cruiser Roon to have amazing secondaries as the ship is just littered in them.
Christmas lootcrates are in the store if anyone cares. They give about the equivalent value of what you put in. Secondary lead is broken atm though and WG doesn't seem to have it as a high priority to fix. Secondaries will land behind moving ships instead of the center, it's especially noticeable if your secondaries are built for accuracy and there's a ship circling around you (like a DD). If they fixed the lead so moving ships would be hit instead of the water behind them, there would be way more secondary hits and they'd actually be useful in this game.
So they fixed them and made them great, then over time somehow broke them again. That's cool. I guess.
The lead has been broken for a long time. What they fixed was the aim point so they aim at the center of ships instead of the underwater citadel (which caused nothing but water splashes even at 1km range on a stationary target as the shells aimed under the waterline) Now the shells aim at the belt area and will get hits on stationary targets but if the target is moving fast as fuck boi the shells will splash the water behind the ship, sometimes getting a random RNG spread hit on the stern.
I haven't played this since beta, did they ever unify premium accounts across all the Wargaming games? I have a shitload of WoT gold stocked up and am looking to try this again but from what I can tell they use two different premium currencies? Also if I'm dead set on playing Americans or Japanese, what's a solid ship line that won't make me want to rip my eyes out ala Germans in WoT.
Yes, premium accounts have been unified for years now. There will be two options soon: 1) A general "WG premium" account that is unified for all games. Gives +50% exp +50% credits in WoWS WoT WoWP 2) A specified "WoWS premium" account that only works in WoWS. Gives +65 % exp and +50% credits but is not unified with the other games. This is the best option if you only play Warships. The WoWS premium will be implemented in the next update, and any premium time you have active at that time will be turned into WoWS premium as a bonus. So use your WoT gold to buy as much general premium time as you can, so when the WoWS premium comes out you'll get both WoWS premium in WoWS, and keep the normal premium in WoT.
GDWAA7-4U3XR-WBUFY free stuff or something i dunno
https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/general-news/wg-fest-2018/ Russian BBs confirmed. Tier 10 is called Kreml and has option between 3x3 406mm or 457mm.
I feel like a fucking idiot, I keep getting torpedoed and killed in one hit. Maybe it's different at higher tiers and I'm obviously shit at the game but it just sucks because then I gotta sit on my ass and wait for the match to end before I can play that ship again. Think I'll go back to War Thunder, at least when you get one shot in that game it shows you how it happened so it doesn't feel as shitty. Plus once you're out of lives and get booted back to your garage you can immediately repair your stuff and start another match. That said, WoW has a much better ship selection than WT.
Just jump into another ship type/nation. At least that's what I do if I get insta rekt. That being said, what are you sailing around in?
I like committing to a single nation, personally. The Dresden.
Low tier DDs are overpowered in general, they become kinda balanced from T6 onwards. Low tier DDs have absurdly fast reloads and great camo ratings, and the low tier ships do not have any torpedo protection bulges, and if they do they're really ineffective. Torpedo protection bulges start becoming relevant at T5-6. Although most low tier (1-4) cruisers play in a very similar way regardless of nation, the German cruisers are known to be high skill ships from tier 5 onward once they start gaining their general playstyle/characteristics. They're very unforgiving for new players.
What would you recommend to a dingus like me
