Yeah, I always figured that's why they never added gambling to GTA. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. I can already see the headlines.
Real talk though, the fact that they're not adding any of the multiplayer stuff to singleplayer, just like with GTA V, is a fucking joke.
I'm annoyed they still haven't fixed the stubble bug. Nor have they given us the second character option like we have in GTA Online. Though at this rate I think it's to stop us earning gold and money from doing the missions again. But there's also a load of stuff in singleplayer that isn't in online, mostly when it comes to clothing or outfits like the scout jacket and the non worn version of the flat cap.
You can only use cash to buy in, It's a $25 buy in, Can't use gold to buy in. You can host private poker sessions, although i'm not 100% if you still have to pay. Also, I jumped back into the online for a few hours and i have to say that the new defensive option is working pretty well, I haven't been killed over and over again and i'm able to do things in mostly peace. Also ponchos and the new lemat looks nice.
It's not Red Dead 2 coming to PC that I'm in disbelief over, it's some random profile that mentions Red Dead 2 PC that I am.
You also get 1 gold bar per level you go up (albeit temporarily). Glad I got bored around level 13. Finished the story, and started the "second chapter" ones they added today and now I'm level 18.
Especially since it was shit that was already in RDR, that’s what makes it all even more frustrating.
Kinda makes you wonder if they're even going to make singleplayer DLC or just focus on the online aspect again. I haven't played the game in months and these updates aren't making me want to come back either, I don't care if they're handing out fucking free gold, piss off, I'm not that easily satisfied anymore.
Just played through the new missions with a friend, and I gotta say, they were pretty damn enjoyable. They're really well paced, and you get to fight TONS of enemies. Even at level 120, I nearly went up a whole level just from the XP gained from two of those missions.
I'm just enjoying playing poker, hope they add domino's in from SP, and maybe a return of Liar's Dice would be nice. Honestly surprised you don't bet gold, seems like the obvious scummy way to make people grind or buy more.
Single player DLC aren't cashcows. And that's all Rockstar wants.
Technically speaking - it's what T2 wants. R* is just being dragged along for the ride.
They've already strangled their online community to death with the drought of content. GTA Online is mostly devoted to co-op activities because that is what people actually like to do. The conceit is logical because you ostensibly have no need to buy expensive clothing and weapon finishes if the only time people see them is when they get a freeze frame after you kill them. The pvp gunplay isn't compelling enough to be the main focus of repeatable content. It just happens to be the easiest to produce.
Rockstar needs to break off and go independent. They have enough clout that they could easily survive on their own. Take Two would be nothing without Rockstar.
I doubt any of the Rockstar directors want to break off and go independent. Take Two is practically cutting them blank checks to create whatever they want and the Housers would be nuts to give up that kind of financial security for a happier customer that is going to still buy their product at the end of the day
Went back to play it for the new missions (of which there are three) and boy does it crash almost like clockwork.
Out of beta my ass?
you know if Red Dead Redemption had released as an MMO or something and not one of the superlative single player games of the last couple decades i'd understand the "outrage" but fundamentally the game was well worth its price alone in that aspect, which was the product it advertised itself to be. like, i never bought this game expecting the price to reflect a multiplayer experience that hadn't been released or reviewed yet? so when i see people - notoriously @GHOST!!!! who has historically melodramatic reactions like this about every other game - shitting themselves with indignance about a beta version of a gamemode that's basically secondary to the release content it's hard for me to wonder whether people are victims of their own expectations? it's like buying a really good sandwich and then throwing a tantrum about the pickle?
They advertise that the game has a multiplayer component, it's on their website, it's on the box, it's every bit as deserving of criticism as the singleplayer, just because you don't give a shit, that doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. It's not like a pickle on the fucking side of a really good side sandwich either, what kind of analogy is that, even the singleplayer has problems, yeah it's a brilliant game the first time around because the story is engaging, it causes you to not really be aware of the gameplay issues the game has, but on the second playthrough, when I know the story and what's going to happen, I'm more aware of the gameplay and that's when the problems surface, things like missions having you perform specific actions and you have to do it that way or it doesn't work, it forces you to do exactly what it wants, hiding the horse carriage in the swamp being a good example of an extremely linear design. For an analogy like your own, the game is basically an offering of two sandwiches, yes, two of them, the first being the singleplayer, it's a really good sandwich but if you ever had that one again, it probably won't taste as good the second time around, you might be aware that some of the ingredients in the sandwich are a bit bland (relating to gameplay) even if some of the other parts are still pretty good, but you're aware of them now (or least a lot of people are anyway), the second sandwich though looks good but it's not got as much in it and the ingredients are also bland, something also just feels off about it in general (the grind and premium currency). You might value things differently than I do but when someone offers me something and half of that offering is bad, I'm not going to be entirely happy about it, it being in beta invited criticism, so when it comes out of it's apparent beta state and still has barely any content, it's bit of a joke, moreso because you know they're going to start focusing on the multiplayer side of the game now to turn it into another GTA Online. (Something I hope I'm wrong about)
what kind of analogy is this where someone orders multiple mediocre sandwiches in a row? why did they order the second one if the first one wasn't great? eating two full sized deli sandwiches in a row? the kind that come with pickles? not normal. unless they're those tiny sandwiches with like one ingredient intended as a snack but then why would you expect so much? those would never come with pickles. this isn't like my analogy at all. next time you want to make a comparison, a single sandwich inherently comes with two of something.
I think the real problem is that their online component for RDR2 has roughly equivalent content as the original rdr did at launch. Unlike a GTA you can't have cars or planes or boats of any sort to have that carrot and stick thing. I have almost 60 gold and nothing to spend it on because everything is either level restricted or impacts the gameplay so little so as to make me apathetic. Keep in mind I am level 21 and there are people already at 140+ with only the limited things to play. Because there are no cellphone stand-ins, you can't get delivered a mission without fully acted exposition. (you could its just they seem to have gone all in with their immersion) Honorable folk being able to pursue notorious criminals and criminals doing heists is cool, but it means there is always going to be a half of the content you are locked out of. They really need to introduce a way for more mundane activities to be played quickly. The repo missions from GTAO are a good example. Their mission parameters scale based on player count, take about 10-15 minutes to complete, and are usually fairly difficult to fail. Unlike a lot of missions that came before them, they are mostly based around using cars to do things. You could easily make a comparative mission structure around horse/cattle rustling.
They need to give us more non lethal ways to take down enemies. Some of the free roam missions want you to steal a wagon without killing anyone, and the only non lethal options you have are your fists and the lasso. 90% if you try to take someone down with one of those, it alerts everyone. Give us a native american blowgun with sleep darts or something.
Plus almost everyone has a gun, try taking down three people with a Lasso when two of them start shooting at you.
Man, that defensive mode they added is fucking great. I was doing a gang hideout with a friend, and some assholes came in and tried to steal all the kills and kill us. Since they started attacking us, we were able to fight back without any penalties. We wiped them out, and they couldn't do shit to us. One of them messaged me and said I was hacking
try pistol whipping people if you want quicker knockouts. assuming they don't instantly disarm you if you're in open combat, pistol whipping (or just weapon bashing really) is just a one or two button press to make someone go down. i'm don't remember what happens if you try to take someone down while unarmed in stealth but with a gun out you just kinda bop them on the top of the head and get going
That was hotfixed 20 mins ago sadly. Pretty glad I did it last night. Made $6k, but spent it all on buying all available weapons, and maxing out my horse and weapons.
Introducing Free Roam Missions From Black Belle, Sadie & Jake Ad..
Wait, how does Sadie/Jake being mission givers before the events of RDR2 make sense?
Maybe it's just hunting stuff or rescue? Idk, I haven't tried them yet.
Still more random crashes in free roam. Riding a train and doing nothing and bam.
