TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V14 - The Bargaining Stage

Don’t be a fool about this. The game is the real victim here.
You need customers for a distribution platform to be good.
Why the fuck would I use Epic Games' platform?
Well they seem to make good deals for indie developers, which is always welcome in my book and may lead to the next big undertale-thing being exclusive to their platform. If they have some business-savvy (I must know nothing about Epic as a company) they may get some AAA title exclusives as well.
It will be interesting to see if the Fortnite player base is interested in buying other games from Epic.
for the same reasons people prefer steam over origins.
I'm sure that'll change if/when they actually get devs with games for them to distribute, since their system seems to be getting off the ground with a dev-friendly atmosphere and payment system.
yeah, but dev-frinedly policies doesn't necesarily affect or interest customers.
if you told me that origin gives 100% revenue to devs and other benefits i wouldn't give two shits about it - its still origin.
You kind of have to start off somewhere. With some of the neglect Valve is doing with Steam it might have potential to at least get a crack of the market.
In the long run though we won't really know if it works or not till enough time has passed more or less.
Let the downfall begin:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/a3nn16/artifact_has_lost_60_of_its_playerbase_in_the/
I don't know a thing about Artifact mechanics or rarity, but it looks like the cards are dropping precipitously on the SCM: Steam Community Market
That reason being "it's Steam".
Epic Games doesn't have "it's Steam", so I don't think the same reason applies friend.
people sometimes think I'm a guy named Pyrojoe, today when playing the actual Pyrojoe connected to the server i was on and everyone freaked out. He was really nice, it was dope
Its not that Epic doesnt have "It's Steam" so they will be a flop, its that they could be the next "It's Steam" in the long term
besides you can apply that "I wont use Epic because I have Steam" thing to literally anything that has ever been made that became obsolete
!RemindMe 5 years "Did Garry kill Facepunch and if not was Epic Games' launcher a Steam killer"
60%? Yikes.
Does data for Ricochet's launch exist? Because I have a hunch that not even that dropped so low after the first week.
it's not relevant at all.
It's not that relevant but it is legitimately the only Valve product besides Counter Strike Condition Zero and Artifact to have such a small base.
the factors, business model, audience and technology aren't remotely comparable.
I agree but you don't have to bring the 'tude.
The Epic launcher and store has legitimate potential based on Fortnite alone. As much as I hate to say it, the insane masses of people playing Fortnite on PC right now, especially the younger ones, may not even have Steam, much less be as invested into it as the people in this thread are. That puts Epic in a particularly good position for snagging market share, especially if publishers work with Epic to have promotions for their games in Fortnite, a la TF2 preorder items.
that reason being "its a better service". same reason (back then) several artist dropped deviantart in favor of Tumblr, then dropped tumblr in favor of instagram or pinterest.
lets not forget that back when steam launched it was just this annoying launcher that you had to use in order to play hl2. Steam as a service has improved greatly in the last years, and as such others have taken note of this and have worked off it.
you of all people should know that over time people always chooses the provider with the better service. And I guarantee you if the rumours are true, Tencent is going all in in that regard.
Actually my experience has taught the opposite.
People always choose the provider they like the most. That does not correlate with which actually provides the better service.
Really? i am genuinely surprised.
to add to the topic:
The creator of Steam Spy has been working on the Epic Games Stor..
All you have to do is look at Bazaar.tf or any number of our competitors who have taken one of our services, copied it to the pixel, and changed a single number to provide a 'better service'.
Except people don't use these services because even if it's "better", they don't like them.
Ah, here I am throwing a compliment to your sites providing a good service and engagement and you just reject my advances.
truly the most tsundere of all devs.
I just wanted an excuse to rant about my 'competitors' tbh
In not so good news, apparently the TF2 cheat Nullcore got a huge update recently. I've noticed some odd behavior from cheaters on Valve servers recently and I think this is part of it. I'm loathe to give the attention seeking whores who rage hack in TF2 exactly what they want, but I did spend some time doing some research on YouTube.

This is a terrible video and I don't recommend watching it at all. I'm only posting it because it confirms every prejudice stereotype I harbor against TF2 cheaters. Awkward looking gopnik Russian listening to hardbass and hardly knowing how to use his cheats. This is EXACTLY how I picture the average script kiddie. I'd almost believe it was a performance artist doing a parody of the average TF2 cheater.
Are STN trading or the basically illegal Soviet copies of marketplace/scrap still a thing? Havent done site trading in a while.
It's Panam, other airlines can't succeed because they're not Panam.
CSGO just became F2P and the new battle royale mode has something that looks a lot like the Contracker.
CS:GO is the new TF2 now! /s
