The entire reason CS:GO wasn't free to play was to raise the barrier of entry for cheaters. One again, modern day Valve doesn't give a shit about anything other than money. I'm sure they're expecting the profits from the new battle royal mode will justify the core game tanking in playerbase because of cheating skyrocketing to the level it is in TF2.
Not a true assumption. Check the info before assuming things. All current players have been upgraded to the Prime status and will only be matched with each other. Only the F2P players will be in the clusterfuck, until they pay the full price for CS:GO and upgrade to Prime status.
That means legit players wanting to try out CSGO will be in cheating hell and will be turned off from the game almost immediately. Even from Valve's greedy standpoint, they're hardly going to attract new customers with such an F2P shit show.
oh GOD danger zone oh NO this is worse than radical heights. not even saying that as hyperbole, I literally had more fun with radical heights than this absolute garbage because at least radical heights had slight value in that it was at least funny bad this is not funny bad because it looks like someone actually tried with it
I love how TF2 has been dry on content for so long that we've now gone from picking each other apart to discussing Artifact, competitors to Steam, and now CS:GO. Anything but TF2.
I'm not huge on CS but I'm glad the game still gets big updates. I just wish it was the same for TF2 I'm surprised how fast we go from the optimism after Halloween to the disappointment of december.
Who was optimistic after Halloween?
Could be worse. At least TF2 doesn't have a Battle Royale mode.
yet
I mean, if valve nerfed sniper (or added REAL counterplay!) in a meaningful way, around 70% of the cheating problem should go away (this figure is from league ban databases + community anticheat tools). An overwhelming majority of cheating in the game is done by throwaway, private, unsetup or filled out cheating bot accounts, who have zero playtime in anything other than sniper yet huge accuracy percentages, and almost no playtime in it. If every day, you hardware banned every single tf2 account that fit those parameters just as a basis, you’d likely crush most of the cheating people see in matches, and generate enough data for VACnet to work on the ones that don’t. These are the lengths you need to go to if you want to run a free game. If it’s very easy to create an account with which to cheat, it should be even easier for them to be banned by the tens of thousands for doing so.
Okay here's something: Some guy on Reddit visited Valve today and met with Dave Riller. He didn't really ask any questions we haven't heard answers to before, but he did mention the "team" was hard at work on something.
I wish he wuld have asked why the TF2 team decided to suddenly stop communicating.
Don't go behind cheaters following everything they do. At the moment you post their... "work" or some random kid with damaged ego you are also giving them a spotlight they don't deserve. About cheats we could argue about spreading awareness and making enough noise for Valve to make one step months later, but in the meanwhile its a 50/50 between awareness and backfiring as advertising their stuff. And at the end of your day you will gain nothing except frustration.
yeah that's why I avoid/don't show hackers or hacking in videos anymore, whenever it comes up .:XPinkiePie06X:. and friends will leave a bunch of edgy, smug comments and raz everyone up. They're pathetic attention seekers and the only way to win is not to feed them.

Link please.
everything discussed so far is in context or related to tf2.
I knew it couldn't have been a Valve game but that sign got my hopes up
Did Arena mode really die because people couldn´t be bothered to wait for respawn? I mean in Overwatch the equivalent of Arena mode is one of the more well-liked/well-balanced modes. Let's talk about Overwatch too instead of TF2
Facepunch-hosted Arena maps event when? We gotta relieve that small 1 month period were arena was played.
What are you on about, people play Elimination only because it gives lootboxes
We could have one today if you guys would like. Rate Asshole, and if we get enough ratings it will happen.
People don't play Arena because the maps are cool but DM mode isn't suited for TF2's class-centric balance and the mode is a dumbed down KOTH with no respawns as a result. It's different in Overwatch because there are twenty different DPS characters to play as, the maps actually made for the mode are good, Arcade is an easy way to grind lootboxes, and characters like Torbjorn and Sombra aren't nearly as overbearing as their TF2 counterparts in DM circumstances. Also it's either 1v1 or 3v3 and it's possible to build teamcomps around, say, 3v3 - when the mode first came out two years ago, a character (Roadhog) was actually nerfed because he was so overbearing in 3v3 comps especially. The meta was basically Roadhog/S76/Ana for at least a year. I love the Arena maps, especially Offblast, but Arena in TF2 is boring as hell, especially since you could just play 1v1 mode mod whose name I forget, where you play on certain sections of Granary and Badlands, and can practice Soldier v Soldier or Scout v Scout.
they should add a special queue for new players. I just spent over 80 minutes trying to play tf2 and all i got were either a team full of plebians with 0-7 points at the end of the round or an enemy team as bad. new players to tf2 is great, but pairing them up with experienced players just discourages them to continue play seeing as they dont have the knowledge of the game or the skill to play against older players.they just die and die and die and die over and over again, probably not so fun. and they certainly ruin the fun of anyones whos mediocre/good. its not fun being the only one or one of three people doing anything while the rest of the team just stand around doing jackshit. If you have one or two or three bad players on your team who cares, but when almost every single one is just garbage its a nightmare. im not even a tryharder or on competetive level, i just want to play with people who understand the freaking game
but thats the premise of random crits!!! /s
its just because poeple can't wait for respawns. matches end too fast or take too long.
just make kritz optional, you can chose to play with them off/on or tick a box that says "no prefference" then everyone gets to play tf2 the way they want. Dont personally understand why anyone would like random kritz but apparently there are people who do
you fucking stop that shit right now
it'll literally never happen for the simple reason that valve would need to change the color of every texture, particle, item, hud, bla bla bla to a neutral one and that's a whole lot of damn effort.
TF2 Battle Royale would be dominated by Sniper and Scout ...the exact same problem Highlander and Sixes (and pubs, depending on the map) have.
