"Retro" PC Games Megathread v9 - From Dusk Till Doom

Because Atari does things for no reason other than that's the way they want to do it.
So is there any reason to buy the remaster over just buying the original game and downloading Blood GDX?
Blood GDX still doesn't have a FOV slider and I believe the color palette is still wrong so if the new remaster can fix that it might be worth it.
Maybe they lost the source code and have been making it incredibly difficult up to this point because they wouldn't want to admit it.
...who am I kidding, Atari has no shame.
Original developers confirmed to have the original codebase in-tact. They wanted it released under GPL iirc, but Atari doesn't want that to happen.
Because they don't have the rights to the source code, simple as that. It's WB Games you need to contact to get those.
The only thing that Atari has is the publishing rights for the game. In effect, this means that, with Kaiser reverse-engineering the code and Nightdive making a deal with Atari, they essentially bypassed WB and hence do not have to pay an exorbitant sum to gain access to the source.
You get the original files if you buy the remaster, so even if you don't like the port, you can still transfer the files over and play BloodGDX instead.
You also get multiplayer over Steam, and possibly better performance because the port isn't based on Java. (I still get random stuttering with BloodGDX from time to time)
Furthemore, as mentioned before, weapons and enemies can be modded with BloodEX, whereas it is an absolute nightmare to do in BloodGDX and DOSBox Blood.
That being said, we don't know yet which of the two will feel better to play overall. I'll probably buy it when it comes out and post my assessment here -- though I hope they'll price it reasonably this time around, unlike Forsaken and Turok...

Dusk Episode 3 is out
dusk ep3👌👌
Another great episode, maybe my favorite one, and also has a very special super secret voice actor Stephan Weyte, Caleb from Blood
Dusk ep3 is really great but i think 2 still just barely has the edge on it
Yeah ep3 is really great so far. I'm happy the guy came through in the end because I was nervous picking it up back when Ep1 first came out. Guess we can add DUSK to the short list of early access games that didn't suck ass.

I love Dusk, but I don't think I'll be able to finish Chapter 3 due to that enemy on mission 4(?).
I just can't.
Their big dumb faces were made for the super shotgun

Is that related to Doom or are we finally gonna see what Blackroom is?
It's probably a fifth episode for Ultimate Doom.
