iirc Adrian confirmed in an email it has no fur, but in Quake Champions the shambler head has fur for some reason cause they're all hackfrauds don't worry Marphy, I got your back
It's like some type of a Schrodinger's cat experiment. Except this time we are questioning whether a interdimensional space yeti has fur or not. Truly a Romero's Shambler Paradox. Tune in next week when we debate about whether Fiends have eyes and do Ogres poop grenades?
I think they're better with fur, just this wild big furry animal covered in blood... that shoots lightning at you!
shamblers are way scarier to imagine as just a big mass of papery pale skin with teeth, not unlike Daniel Bryan
Shamblers are misunderstood lovecraftian creatures who hide their fluff out of fear. They can still die in a pit since that explosion resistance is bull and it shouldn't be a thing.

the 1024 series is worth checking out i also recommend giving vanguard a go
Icarus - Alien Vanguard is probably the map set that made figure out that I care less about early fps puzzles and am a meat head when it comes to Doom Megawads. I liked the premise; Star trek like adventures across different space stations and planets, but all that potential seemed lost for me. The virtual levels felt the most backwards to me, replacing all the nice new sci-fi retro future textures vanilla textures. Making the Virtual maps basically feel like experimental Doom II aesthetically without the luxury of the better half of Doom II. By 'Donny Brook' I couldn't take anymore, and the tedious teliporter puzzle just made me give in to cheats because I could hear the damn archvile waiting to teleport and I wanted to fucking kill it dead and move on to the next map.
Early FPS puzzles are literally banging your head against the wall until something sticks. Icarus's pacing is okay for like 27 of its levels but those other 5 are disgusting. There's a part where you have to walk into a teleporter, get teleported in the wrong room, run through crusher traps back to the teleporter and NOW you're in the right room. The thing is, that's not even the gimmick of the level, it's just a random thing that gets you stuck for having the common sense of not re-entering the teleporter that brought you to the wrong damn place.
He's finally done it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rCTpwLdYQA
Quake 1.5's House of Cthon is just slightly bordering on impossible on hard diffuculty. Made it out with only 15 health (20 if it wasn't fall damage). Frustrating, yes, bad no. I'm still green, but the destoryable environment really adds a new layer to this boss. @BloodShot12 Mod is still great though, made me want to try out Quake again and actually try to finish it. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/147418/2fca1512-f16d-4552-a0e5-286f47bfdbac/quake1520190218110530-00.jpg
me irl when i wake up in the morning afternoon
Going Down is a great one. The first half of Sunlust as well.
Apparently, someone 3D printed the UT99 Enforcer. https://i.redd.it/sfeubjhjwlh21.jpg
I see they went for the first person scale rather than proper hand scale.
Fitting since it's UNREAL. God I miss hammy announcers in new games.
Someone just straight up made a model of Brock from UT99 in the Fortnite art style. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ybD0B8
It would be awesome if they made skins in Fortnite from their older games, and it would maybe get a younger crowd interested in them too
Unreal Tournament died for Fortnite.
I feel the proper saving grace for the Unreal franchise to return is to make a singleplayer reboot of the first game, just like how Doom 2016 did it. Not make it too different from the first one, just expand the story and the locations. Make Na Pali more liveable and exciting with more fauna. Could also go for more open-ended gameplay and less linear progression other than the main objective which is to find a way to escape the planet. Possibly add in some lite-rpg elements, combining different parts for your gear and weapons. Unreal 1 always felt to me like a kind of a game that if it had another year to develop, it would feel less like a shiny doom/quake clone and more like an early farcry game with scifi-fantasy elements. And as much as I liked seeing Unreal resurface with UT4, the arena shooter popularity pretty much faded years ago, replaced with stuff we see nowadays. my 2 cents.
how's this for a fortnite skin https://liandri.beyondunreal.com/w/images/Subversa.jpg let's be real, if epic hasn't made an update to ut for 1.5 years i don't think their higher ups are interested in anything related to it tencent orders people at epic to tie steve polge to his chair so he doesn't develop ut in secret all by himself

I'm surprised that Non-Euclidean hasn't been used more often in games. It seems like a really easy way of making and extending gameplay out.
Still would be cool though. I remember when they put the Quake missile launcher in TF2 and it got me interested in retro shooters when I was younger, just thought if they did something similar in Fortnite there would be a kid out there like me who gets introduced to some cool games through throwbacks
it looks like a nerf dart blaster, someone should do that
im just wondering how does that second one work if you walk it backwards instead
What freaks me out more is - the few good Non-Euclidean maps I've played.. I've had very little trouble navigating. You would think irrational spaces would totally mess up your mental mapping, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal. I'm cursed to have forgotten the name, but the below map was a blast. Cheers to anyone here who recalls. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/238143/7af92423-8cd4-4622-8ed3-009fed5484e7/Screenshot_Doom_20181117_092837.png
