lies it is a legion
I honestly couldn't remember the terms above a Throng, it has been a long time since I played HoMM3. Except for Zounds.
play Arcane Dimensions and Quake 1.5, i unironically consider them some of the best things to come out of this whole retro revival era
Try Blood.
be prepared to be slightly frustrated at how fucking difficult it is though, blood does not pull punches at higher difficulties
If you love chaingunners, you'll love cultists even more.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EPnfZj-lCw Don't know if anyone's heard of this, but I am very proud to have this as my 300th game owned on steam. Like Action Half-Life and Max Payne meet DUSK.
Yeah, had this during its first launch as early access. The gunplay and movement feels really good, it's really only missing content so far and a much more polished up level editor. Really looking forward to it growing.
Also, I was able to find with help a game that I've been looking for forever. Interesting little game, it's called 3D Secret Mission: Abandoned Island Wayback Machine Warning clicking that link will automatically download the file, which doesn't have any viruses from what I've scanned. I doubt anyone cares about it, but hey maybe some Facepuncher created this back in the day. It's basic and a bit hard, but kinda trippy. Here are copy pasted instructions: Arrow keys:   To move the space ship Space bar:      To use the machinegun Tab:               To view the map.   Note that 10 locations are marked in the map. Search those ten locations. In two of them you will find a Waterproof capsule. You need three waterproof capsules in order to fly over the water. The third capsule is located inside the wasps beehive (The home of the enemy)  Hint: In order to blow the home of the wasps you must hit it with many missiles and bullets. After you find the three capsules you should fly to the light tower. Good luck captain. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/752/3e4291e3-a2b8-4181-8556-9ad84d402126/kino2.gif SOURCE Biological Emergency Defense System (BEDS) EMERGENCY In a resort city on an island off the coast of Papua New Guinea, an apparent failed scientific experiment is threatening the millions of lives in Australia and could possibly spread worldwide. All we know is that a biologist was researching a rare species of ferocious killer wasps found only on this island. Since the outbreak began, all vacationers have been evacuated. DANGER Unknown MISSION You must destroy the ferocious killer wasps and teir nest. A supply aircraft has dropped ammunition and other supplies throughout the Island for your use. The file you have received will install the network-based RADS (remote access defense system) in order to initiate the operation. This system will allow you to control the RADS aircraft from your PC. The rest is up to you. And of coarse it's from fucking Australia.
There's nothing like being sent flying to the air by a TNT bundle and then being sniped by cultists and going from FULL to 0hp before you can even fucking LAND. Blood in the higher difficulties is an ungodly challenge that is even harder than the god damned Duskmare mode.
i picked this up a while back and am really excited to see it grow the gunplay feels great
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/229956/cb841faa-1c6f-4efd-8081-9b1e59284cda/2000 iq doors.webm It's pretty good.
I remember there being a genuinely good remix of Foregone Destruction on Youtube, but I get the feeling it's been removed because I can't fucking find it anywhere. The visuals of the video had white extruding boxes that was animated with the music, and some snow falling in the background. Also, Michiel Van Den Bos had commented on the video if memory serves me correctly. It sucks, because I can't seem to even get closure on what the fuck happened to the video or the channel that it was on, especially since I don't remember the name of the person who made it. What's worse is that it's probably never going to come back since it's a semi obscure remix.
anyone have that animation of doomguy slapping a bunch of shells into the supershotgun? i need it for a little pet project
this one? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237760/6b62913a-95cb-44f6-bbfa-78bbfa03d409/tumblr_nbfdbnvvZu1s3uhtzo1_400.gif source: The Armoury of Sgt. Shivers
Blood I felt like was the most engaging, fun to play out of all the build engine games. Everything about it was so stellar
Blood's definitely the best BUILD game, although I still think it suffers from having you be a glass cannon amidst tons of hitscanners. Rainbow Six ain't got shit on Shadow Warrior.
It's hard to play most older shooters after playing Dusk.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsApvLwVCcA i don't even know why the quality is so shit considering i made this video at 1080p anyhow, have an hour and a half long video of me playing some literally shit wad i made ages ago
2005 might be a little bit too new for this thread, but does anyone remember Hard Truck Apocalypse/ Ex Machina? its a very weird eastern european game set in an apocalypse, where you drive a truck and deliver goods/track down your dads killer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I58jmN8WmNI this game has always stuck with me from a kid, and i still enjoy it today despite being janky/unplayable on w10/horribly translated and voice acted. ive just never found any sort of game with similar gameplay. does anyone know any sort of vehicular combat game with inventory management/rpg elements like this? apart from its standalone expansion and an awful arena shooter in the same universe theres nothing I can think off that comes close. maybe because im the only person on the planet that likes it!
Vangers might be right up your alley. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9R7QJ5Sh1o And you'll have to hunt down either a PS2/Gamecube (or emulator for either) and it's very light on the RPG elements but Roadkill from 2003 is a fun open world vehicular combat game with a decent amount of customization and vehicle/weapon variety. Closer to a vehicle only GTA but you might get a kick out of it still.
I'm making another Golf map https://i.imgur.com/qhRaWdh.png https://i.imgur.com/dDnAb4O.png The layout is a bit empty because i've mostly worked on the background so far, but it's getting good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqQ4xkDB4dw the only thing i can think of with apocalyptic vehicular combat and tons of jank/uniqueness is this game, vangers it's like a post-acid feverdream but I'll be damned if it isn't unique at the least
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/210790/c23f6c47-d043-4380-a5ed-1245305065cb/Logo.jpg The third episode of the AMC TC, a standalone mod based on Duke Nukem 3D has been released! Grab it here: https://www.moddb.com/games/the-amc-tc/downloads/the-amc-tc-episodes-1-2-and-3 (Disclaimer: I'm a huge fan of this TC and can't help it, but I had no involvement in its development. Most of what I describe here is coming off the first 2 episodes, and I expect the third to be similar in quality.) Developed by some of the best modders of the Duke 3D community, this TC features an overarching story, 10 playable classes each with their own arsenal, abilities and personalities, a huge set of sprawling and detailed maps, a large set of different foes to battle, collectible items, upgradable abilities and so many little features here and there that I could probably fill an entire page just describing them alone. The premise is that you play as the AMC Squad, a paramilitary group formed to protect the earth (and by extension the galaxy) after the disappearance of Duke Nukem. This takes you all across the planet, from snowy mountain ranges to lush jungles, from urban cityscapes to deserted space stations, as you battle against aliens, demons, fanatical cultists, oppressive regimes and more. The third episode in particular takes you to Ancient Egypt, and continues right where the second episode left off. I want to specifically point out that while this may sound like a massive clusterfuck at first, things have not just been slapped together randomly. While most of the artwork and sounds have been sourced from games such as Blood, Shadow Warrior and Powerslave, tons of care and attention to detail has went into making sure that it all meshes well together, both thematically and story-wise. In total, the TC now spans over 30+ hours to complete, with numerous secrets and unlockables for completionists. The whole thing is an impressive labour of love that has been in development for over 10 years, but 2 more episodes are planned for the future. So yeah, be sure to check it out.
Vangers has probably the most amazing art style of any game I've played. It's like claymation but rendered entirely in voxels, it's just so weird and loveable
Janky, cheesy, buggy eastern European post-apocalypse game that's still pretty damn fun and also quite unique, The STALKER of vehicular combat games pretty much, played the shit out of it years ago. It's available on Steam but you'll have to fetch a patch to actually allow for widescreen and have it not be a crashing mess. The menu music triggers nostalgia in me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqO8KC1lIx8
