"Retro" PC Games Megathread v9 - From Dusk Till Doom

i like the mod on harder difficulties like armmagedon where even the nanoweapons and master assemblies can sometimes be needed on some harder enemies,if that is not enough just add colourful hell into the mix and enjoy having enemies and mini bosses in some maps, yes it does work with the monster pack from doomrl and most other custom enemy wads.
While doomRLA is intended for gzdoom2.1.1 and latest doomRPG is for 3.2.5+ is there hope for cross-compatibility ? Can anyone shed some wisdom ?

A pretty cool standalone platformer for eduke32 was released about 2 weeks ago:

SilverballZ by Manicware
The music is pretty great, so if you want to support the devs, you can also buy the OST here: SilverballZ Soundtrack by Manicware
I wish more games would bring back cheat codes just to mess with. It's been pretty fun replaying Dusk with super jumps and on-demand slow-mo.
Any games like Deus Ex/System Shock 2? I love the style of gameplay
If you want a modern example then PREY™ should do nicely.
Not quite an RPG but if you liked the stealth aspect of those games, the Thief games are great and were also developed by Looking Glass. Thief 2 ended up being my favorite stealth game after playing through it recently. Tfix and Tafferpatcher are a must for getting them to run on modern computers, lots of engine enhancements and OpenAL Soft support for fancy EAX audio
Wouldn't Far Cry 2 fall under that category? Hell I think I remember directly comparing the two mechanics.
why can't i stop looking at this perfectly doomified TF2 DH
why do i need this
oh my god its so good
In addition to what has been already mentioned - Dishonored series. The genre you are looking for is "immersive sim".
fps/rpg works too
My god Far Cry 2's healing system was the best executed take on the system. The only way it could be better would be via co-op, where you'd have to give covering fire to your buddy who's performing emergency surgery or having to grab a downed partner on a fireman's carry to use a syringe for a revival (or having to drag your buddy through tough shit to finally find some first aid equipment).

Yikes
They're doing it again, ffs.
If she isn't called Crash, we riot.
I love syfy original movies
It almost looks like the exact same movie, wtf.
Semper Fi, motherfucker.
id should just make their own movie.
can't they don't have the movie license.
I wonder if they only had the license to do something with the designs from the Doom 3 film adaptation, i can't see any other reason to not do something else with it.
To be fair, at least we can actually see things in this one
Maybe it's because this is a sequel to the 2005 film?
Few days ago I did an introspective look into the first and final boss of DOOM 2016 in reddit, and I decided to share it here as well (plus it got fucked over in terms of visibility because it was automarked as spam for the first few hours, meaning it got stuck between new posts and hot posts where nobody ever looks). What do you guys think?

Decided to take up Doom modding for the first time since I can't do full game dev ATM. I already knew most of the basic concepts of how it worked, but ZScript is amazing and SLADE is using weird magic to store sprite offsets in the PNG itself.
I made a multi-barrel shotgun and a player class thats a bit more meek. The gun kickback is so strong that you take a little health with every shot.
(Ignore the prototype pistol sprite I was testing offsets and right-handed weapons)

I'm thinking I'll do player classes and weapons first, then move on to level design, then maybe making my own enemies? IDK yet, just getting a feel for it right now. Lots of fun <3
Anyone know of a good Linux level editor? SLADE has one but it's kinda lacking compared to GZDoom Builder. I'm happy to use it but just curious.
GZDoom Builder is an invaluable tool compared to the basic map editor in SLADE and there's not much in terms for alternatives for Linux. Eureka exists, but you're better off running GZDB through Wine.
That does not bode well, jesus.
Do Goldeneye and Perfect Dark count as retro FPSs? That's what this thread was originally about but is it now just PC games?
