"Retro" PC Games Megathread v9 - From Dusk Till Doom

Eh, post it. I've tried to make the thread more general in case Apogee style games are posted about, but forgot about retro FPS like Perfect Dark. It was a mistake and I'll change it back with the next thread.
Not sure if it's worth it, since i've tried to run GZDoom Builder through Wine and it always ends up with the error and crash after that.
Well on the bright side at least we know that we're getting demons this time...
That's one mistake they're not repeating
there's an emulator bundle out there that lets you play PD and GoldenEye with a mouse and keyboard

I was only going to post about my experience with the mouse mod, you might think it makes them too easy by either emulation breaks stealth or I just suck or Bunker 2 and Archives are meant to be
slaughterhouses with so many enemies it makes the game crawl. The emulation is not perfect and it only works with 1964, not project64, but I've got it running more smoothly turning down the overclock and going fullscreen.
Don't know if this was posted

I know there's a star wars megathread but DF1/2 always fit with classic fps to me since they were shooters first and foremost
Will it get anywhere though? There's so many U4 remakes for so many things.
That'd be fantastic though. Jedi Knight 1 engine is such a unbearable garbled mess for modern systems.
He's only doing the first level so it's more likely to I'd say.
Maybe if it's good enough other people will pick up where he leaves off, JK1 is a great game (with really good gunplay too) that get's overshadowed by outcast because it doesn't have saber combat
This version stopped working well for me one day, but then I saw this in the comments and it works like a charm:

I wish there were mods for Jedi Outcast and Academy that make the gunplay not a disgusting garbage mess. It's like a combination of blaster bolts being really slow, the trajectory of the bolts being weird, the enemies moving around all the time, it's just unsatisfying compared to the amazing lightsaber combat.
Now that i started playing Will Rock since i never finished it, i have a problem with it, i have low FPS in it regardless of settings and for whatever reason the game completely refuses to use dedicated GPU, i tried forcing it through nvidia control panel and from windows display settings. I've tried everything, including compatibility mode, low FPS fix and even disabling integrated GPU. Nothing works. Does anyone have a solution to this?
Try this
Windows 8/8.1 DDRAW FPS Fix
That is the first thing i've attempted, it didn't to anything, except that the game launches in black after splash screens.

It's a bit resource-intensive, but maybe this works for you? It offers compatibility for DX1-7 and Glide, it usually works really, really well.
I've tried that and was still having low FPS. Tried all options. Tried to mix it around with DDraw dll from fps fix, still have black screen with it. At this point i'm not sure what is the fix for this. But hey, thanks for suggesting.
it has come to my attention that DRLA has built-in compatibility with LegenDoom Lite
some enemies have entirely new attacks
like mancs shooting full scale rockets
and they drop extra goodies
like armor assemblies and exotic weapons and modpacks
this is so much more fun and gets to the real meat of the mod faster
Modpack rarity has always been all over the place.
i really like playing armageddon with technician as you can get a bunch of modpacks by dissasembling super shotguns from overwatch shotguners.
and renegade able to double tap mid tier mooks with the new "shells give a free shot for a shotgun of your choosing"
so if theres a whole bunch of shells lying around, you can just run over them and rapid fire a double bulk modded heavy SSG
and then there's demo with his halved BFG ammo usage
with the number of pistol type unique and legendary weapons, i tend to gravitate towards playing scout, even though technician can, with luck, get a master assembly on the second level
I'm trying to find an indie game or a mod that I played a like a decade ago. I remember that it was a retro type shooter and I remember the most common enemies in the game/mod were guards using the sprites of Doomguy (or at least something really similar since the only thing I remembered are the enemies wearing green suits) I think there weapons were some kind of laser pistol similar to the quake 2 one, and some sort of rocket launcher. I also think that over the screen there was some kind of helmet overlay or something like that.
I don't think it was a doom mod or running on the doom engine, since I don't remember the game being as paced as doom or it's mods, but I might be mistaken. Does anyone know what game/mod this is?
Operation Bodycount?
Has Action Quake 2 been mentioned yet?
What an incredible mod. Real-world guns, locational damage, climbing and jumping all over the maps... It was groundbraking in several ways.
Also, there was one map that, years later, I spent ages trying to find again. An urban setting that featured an EDM club where two drum'n'bass loops could be triggered by activating the dj console.
That map got me into electronic music.

oh shit this screenshot for some reason has reminded me of something really weird. does anyone remember a really long write-up about a multiplayer map, i think in Action Half-Life or Sven Co-Op, where the writer and ten or so friends tried to find this extremely obscure and vaguely creepy easter egg? i think it was like you had to boost out of bounds and do a bunch of other convoluted stuff, and eventually you would get teleported to a giant clock face or something mysterious like that? and it had pictures like this, and the map looked almost identical. maybe it's the same map, i don't know.
i know this is really weird and sounds like a creepypasta but i don't think it was, it was either an actual article somewhere or a just really long forum post on a retro website
I remember this video, but do not have it on hand. If I remember right, it took hours and multiple people at once to complete the challenge rooms (one per hour in the clock room) and the solutions couldn't be viewed in mapping software at the time due to the massive amount of memory required (or some such, I ain't a mapper).
Sounds like Hondo's 5am, for AHL. IIRC some of his maps' easter eggs had interconnected storylines involving some kind of eldritch being named Hgrethedelon. Awesome and creepy stuff.
yes this is actually the exact article, thanks man
I don't think so.. Now that I think about it, I don't think it's a doom mod at all.
Also, I just remembered that the viewmodels are on the side like more common fps nowadays, rather than the middle like doom usually is. The atmosphere is also pretty dark bluish, and barely like doom or it's mods.
It's not the Doom WAD Agent Diaz is it?
