200MB is nothing.
200MB for nothing*
I just don't see the issue.
Exclusives just shouldn't be a thing.
too bad they'll likely be pulling the same shit for doom eternal

Testing some very, very mean ideas.
If Doom Eternal is Bethesda launcher I'm going to at least buy the disc version, unless the disc version is just a fucking download card.
Considering Fallout 76 had no disc, it's not too far-fetched to think Doom Eternal won't have one either
If it really is gonna be on Bethesda Launcher, i guess i'm getting it on PS4 or Switch. I'm do not intend to deal with that mess of a launcher, i'd rather play it with a pad.
I agree with this, but I still don't see the issue of it being on another launcher.
I'd just rather have all my Doom games in one place and not have to fuck around with yet another launcher.
If they wanna put it on there, great, fine, whatever. Just make sure it's on GOG, Steam and whatever other platform is open to selling it as well. By making games exclusive to it they're restricting options to the consumer and that never ends well.
But steam is allowed to do the same thing?
It's definitely not a good thing that Steam does it and I'd prefer games generally not be exclusive to Steam either, but it also has 125 million active accounts.
Valve unfortunately got into the game early and sucked up the majority of the PC market and thus significant amount of people already have Steam accounts with hundreds of games thus it's somewhat more acceptable since they're not really 'forcing' it on anyone.
Not justifying it but that's why there's less of a fuss about Steam.
Steam has a great regional pricing model that allows people in Russia to buy new games on release without going fucking broke. Plus Bethesda has a pretty good track record when it comes to pricing their releases (Prey and DOOM I bought on release, they shortly became even cheaper)
If they make DOOM Eternal exclusive to their store, they're going to fuck over a lot of people
the Dusk comic was surprisingly good, had cool style to it.
I don't know much about the regional pricings of stores outside of Steam, but both GreenManGaming and the Humble Store (among others, probably) carry Fallout 76 and RAGE 2, so DOOM Eternal will probably be the same (at the very least they're also good if you don't want to give ZeniMax your financial information, especially if you're concerned because of the recent leak).
If the Bethesda launcher wasn't a trainwreck I'd be okay with using it.
But that's not the case. And I won't use the Beth launcher until that changes.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled Bethesda Launcher argument with a special announcement:

25 years of Doom isn't over just yet!
How is it a trainwreck? it works fine.
Wow gee uh
the choppy, poorly created interface that was cloned off of Battle.net but has no consistency and often has icons that they couldn't even resize correctly
downloads, last I checked one week ago, will cancel entirely if the launcher is closed - unlike, you know, literally every other
all but one tab actually just opens your web browser
let's talk about the support tickets leaking everyone's named, phone numbers, addresses - or that one time you literally could not uninstall Fallout Rust without having to purchase it
updates constantly cause a lot of people issues with even running the launcher, forcing a reinstall
general instability
but yeah I guess it's fine
oh right and one last thing:
if you forget your password and try to reset it, all it does is show you your account information instead of actually taking you to a password reset
Somehow I forgot about this. I was lucky enough to not have FO76 delete itself on launch cause I backed up the files, but one of the later updates did delete it after I closed the launcher and I had to redownload the game
But hey these problems aren't an issue as long as you launch the game through steam I guess
That has nothing to do with the launcher
They haven't fixed any of these for the duration of Quake Champions' life time on the launcher since the beta, and didn't fix any of them yet after Fallout 76. The latter might stir something or another, but considering the laziness of the patches for FO76 as a game, Bethesda probably won't fix them unless something downright cataclysmic happens for their launcher.
The people who works on the launcher and game are separate teams, I don't see how that relates.
Oh my.

I never inclined that they were the same. It's the fact that these problems have existed for a long while, and will likely continue to exist. Bethesda as a company needs a kick in the ass to either fix them or drop this shit.
