PAYDAY 2/RAID/OVERKILL's The Walking Dead v14: Safehouse RAIDed

oh? do you plan on releasing the fixes as a mod separate from crackdown?
Ugh, I...I don't know if we can. We've lost our lead programmer and the old code isn't all that well-documented. I'll take a look at your mod and see if I can identify intervention points for some of it. iirc the dropped armor/helmets inconsistencies are much more straightforward. The solution to scripted spawns involves overwriting basically the entire enemy spawn function.
Working on pinning units Half-Life 2 style:

Really impressive, ontrigger! Zdann spent some time explaining some things to me and we might have a possible tweak that will make bipods tolerable to use.

upload really lowered the video quality
Dat DOOM/ Madness Combat soundtrack tho. Surprisingly fitting.

big oof
I wonder what will happen to Dead by Daylight once OVERKILL and Starbreeze go under
Nothing, since Starbreeze sold all the rights for DBD back to Behavior.
Didn't they sell the rights because of how badly RAID performed?
I'm more worried about PD3
I'm more worried about remaining staff at Starbreeze.

Finally something new that changes gameplay to be slightly old-school.
I understood it as being similar to Starbreeze buying back the rights for Payday. It was mostly to separate from the publisher. Then again, that was all behind closed doors. We had a meeting one day and it was told to us that after Q3 we wouldn't be producing marketing material for DBD anymore and we were all like "oh, uh, okay then". I left in Q1 so I'm not sure what they were doing between then and the independence but it sure as heck wasn't trailers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hopefully the rights to Payday go to somebody who'll care for the property, as much a property it's worth caring about at this point. Payday 2 was a wild ride – $100+ worth of DLC content, weird monetization schemes, peculiar crossovers... I'd love to go back to heisting again, but idk.
Goddang did this thread go quiet.
I've run into an annoying, hard-to-nail-down weapon issue that's delaying the next big Crackdown update. In the meantime, I'm also working on heist edits and discussing skill and weapon balance changes with the team.
tfw nobody wants to heist and your intellectual property is up in the air due to the game producers financial crisis

even in the shortest content drought this thread was dead silent, so it shouldn't be surprising that no one is talking now that it's actually over
Wait for GTFO to release and we'll have something new and exciting to start the thread back up, I suppose.
looks like Crime War is finally coming, NBC Universal is publishing it with another beta coming soon

the game isn't great but I guess it's Payday-related news?
Sure would be fun if we had L4D style versus in the actual Payday 2 game
Pretty sure we've been talking about this for decades
It just wouldn't really work
not just on a gameplay level but on a technical level as well. It'd have to be it's own game even if it was on PC.
Dunno if I agree. It's the same principle of gameplay. Hordes of undead/cops storm you as you perform objectives. Sometimes these undead/cops are of a "special" variety and they have special powers. In L4D VS you play as those specials. I imagine a PD2 VS would work the same way.
PD2 barely functions and now you want to make it a PvP game???
From a design perspective, a lot of the calculus is heavily shifted just by a move to hitscan weapons and regenerating armor, to say nothning of map layouts and objective design. Players would need a pretty completely different set of equipment that would have to be massively constrained.
I think a zombie master type mode would be better than a left4dead mode.
Have a player be the AI director: choosing when, where and what to spawn, setting traps, etc. Maybe let the player path special enemies to break up monotony, like choosing where Winters holds out on a map.
Since the see-through bird's eye view would probably be too much for spaghetti diesel, maybe make the player invisible in first person with a noclip.
Gensec Elites (Mayhem, Deathwish) -
The best security forces that swollen law enforcement privatization contracts can buy, the Gensec Elites are a whole new level of crony capitalist crimestopper. Don't let the embedded advertising and logos fool you- Gensec elites hit harder and work smarter than even the FBI. In particular these corporate goons have thought outside the "embedded special unit" paradigm. Instead, Gensec special units deploy in dedicated teams, with specialized, reactive tactics that attempt to pinch or draw out the payday gang. The exception are the Gensec medics, who will follow and support any Gensec team.

1. dw_group_4_med - 1 heavy shotgunner, 2 light shotgunners (flankers), 1 medic.
Gensec patented Combat Specialists are always happy to bring your defensive needs to the next level with Gensec Reactive Tactical Teams. First, an armored Gensec Heavy Shotgunner will make initial contact and lead enemy fire, while two additional Elite Shotgunners will attempt to flank for maximum damage. We even keep medics on hand (while supplies last) to provide support. No way they can fail.

2. dw_takedowner - taser, taser (follow), and cloaker (pinch)
Sure, you can send in tasers with normal troops, and sure, you can deploy your lightly armored cloaker units on their own. Maybe you'll get lucky. But imagine, and just bear with me now: what if you sent a cloaker in with your taser, and had him attack from a different angle?! Now that's a takedown! For added benefit, we'll even throw in a second Gensec Taser for free (premium defense plan customers only).

3. dw_SkullPaladin - Shield, Skulldozer, Medic
Look, man, big armored guys are great and all, and sending them in with shields? That's a fine idea. Just excellent. But I know we can do better. Why not give that armored guy a light machine gun and a big, attention-drawing paint job, and- get this- a medic as backup. Just imagine the look on the clown's faces when they all rush to shoot the dozer, and the medic just...heals him! That frustration? That anger? That's the Gensec Difference.
The tools for posing enemies are agonizingly limited- getting the rather poorly composed shots for these three groups took me the better part of an hour to make.
