M1897 dropped
It's alright but suffers from two things that imo makes it much less effective than the Drilling. First is the inability to sprint while racking the pump like in BF1 which makes it super sluggish to use imo and second; is that the damage is pretty inconsistent and I think its one of those shotguns that needs you to ADS first before firing which imo is fucking stupid. I really hate both of these things are they're both super contradictory to the supposed playstyle of shotguns, especially the whole ADS before firing thing as the whole tradeoff of shotguns is that you sacrifice all range for sheer power and speed in CQC and having to ADS to maximize damage output is objectively stupid imo and needs to go into the bin.
Yeah gave it more time, it's overall pretty abysmal with the inconsistent hipfire. The thing needs the ability to sprint while pumping along with maybe 75% of the Drilling's one hit kill capability to be remotely any good. Not to mention an overall hipfire buff as the arbitrary step of having to ADS before firing to maximize spread reduction is an objectively stupid design decision.
Take your time to get used to the G43 or any other assault semi-autos and how to use them. Master those and you will easily get 3:1 KD in any match using them since they are really fucking good.
Not purely gun-whoring advice either but the semi-autos do require you to play at a slower pace and think about engagements due to the limited ammo count, so mastering these also helps immensely in increasing your survival in general regardless of the class you use. At least that is in my experience, I used to have a 0.5 kdr often in V before a few tough rounds getting used to the g43 made me rethink most of how I approach situations.
The bipoding in this game is absolutely horrible, why is it that I'll prone on a pretty flat surface, but I'll start sliding in one direction preventing me from deploying my bipod? it made getting gold on the VGO a frustrating chore, this game has so many issues that bf1 didn't have
I'm not going to be able to get this fucking helmet, can't get the kills with the thing to count
It seems to be an issue with stage geometry, for some reason surfaces in this game are a lot more slippery than previous games, I think it's because your prone model has more collision but doesn't seem to be able to tilt very much. So going prone and staying still on a non flat surface is difficult at best.

Just had three rounds of a Grand Operation with a team that only kept camping outside the objectives and never tried pushing. Our tanks even camped at our spawn and at no point advanced.
Also, it feels like the enemy team was a bit stacked.
Enemy Team:
15x rank 46-50
2x rank 41-45
3x rank 36-40
2x rank 30-35
8x rank lower than 30
Our Team:
5x rank 46-50
2x rank 41-45
3x rank 36-40
2x rank 30-35
16x rank lower than 30
Rank doesnt really mean anything past 20. I was playing with 50 people last night who didnt know the 3rd floor of the bookstore in devastation was accessible and thought the people glitched themselves up there.
Yeah, I suppose that's true, but I still expect people with rank 50 to have spent more time in the game than those with lower ranks.
Although it's really not suprising such things would happen. I had a squad leader who was rank 50 and yet he didn't know how to call in reinforcements because he had never done it before and we had to tell him in chat.
So why did they launch it with the feature of an entire class not fucking working?
because gamedev is hard and you gotta hit release targets or you get shut down.
Why did they launch with airlifts never explained or the revive drag system.
Oh yeah, because EA wants money fast and hard.
How is a human supposed to use the Suomi's grip from the gold variant?
your hands would be like an inch apart
New shotty has a very inconsistent damage model. Sometimes ADS shots at 10-15 meters will OHKO, sometimes they'll do 42 damage at all chest/head shots. Hipfire isn't even worth using imo, at those same ranges i hit a guy twice for 55.
Shit like this is why I advocate for Black Ops 3's shotgun damage model in extreme CQC where one pellet does 50%+ of the max damage whereas the other pellets fill in the gap of the damage.
I prefer TF2's model of fixed spread.
They've sorta implemented this back in post-release BF1 where sections of the crosshair would have one guaranteed pellet to land in that section. It helped to improve one-shot consistency, but I ain't sure if this is a thing in BFV.
Look at the sprint animation for the MP28, I'm pretty sure that's a broken wrist.
i'm not digging the m1897. very inconsistent, doesn't really make sense that the damage would range between 2-80 in the same distance that an m30 drilling could one shot, let alone the 12g automatic.
If I haven't done all the second week challenges are you locked out from them since now it's the 3rd week? The Tides of War page doesn't make it clear.
So just a warning if anyone else is considering trying it: the "Class Competition" assignment is bugged. The "revive 3 teammates in one life as medic" portion resets at the start of every match, even if you've already completed it, so you will have to complete all parts of the assignment first.
This also happens with the recon poficiency 3 (i think?) assignment with the part of getting 4 headshots in 1 life, the support proficiency 3 assignment, etc.......
Basically, if that assignment includes something like "do _____ in 1 life" do it last, it resets each match.
If it is included twice in the same assignment, do it both in the same round, it can be done on different lives.
They're actually not as annoyingly bugged as they seem. The tracker resets every match but your actual progress doesn't. If you go to the assignments screen at the main menu it will still count them as being completed and you don't have to do them again for the assignment to complete.
yes.
so if you didn't do the first week of tow challenges, you can't unlock the vgo unless you pay cc.
Unfortunately yes you do, the reset occurs when you start a new match so as soon as you start another match to complete whatever the next part of the assignment is you have your progress reset on that part.
Also is it just me or are this week's TOW challenges a lot easier than the previous two? I already unlocked the 1906.
Ive reached rank 20 on the overarching event level. So now I can just streamline through the challenges to get the reward.
Would have been cool to give players bonus currency doing the side challenges, but I guess thats asking for too much.
I don't find it too much as it can give incentive to do the harder ToW challenges even when you've reached max ToW rank.
A bit miffed that the max rank reward is an Allies-only cosmetic set, I'd like to have that one Axis gasmask set to go along with Dead Man's Hand.

tow 2 was notoriously shitty because of the wording on the "look up" challenge, where you'd think it was "get 2 kills with the v1/jb-2 **as a squad**", and not get 2 kills as **squad lead**, which is painfully stupid in a team-based game, not to mention team-based objective.
also it bugged for a lot of people even if they did get 2+ kills as squad lead.
