Battlefield Franchise Megathread v"Seriously, nobody made a new thread yet?"

On the last page I gave some advice to use vehicles if you are struggling to do well and I'd like to uh redact that now because goddamn this week of Tides is nuts.
I gave up on it because the one time i finally had a decent enough squad to call one in, there were so many incoming that i couldn't call mine in before the round ended.
Battlefield V Visibility Survey
Quick 1 question survey about the current state of visibility, since it seems to be a major topic at the moment. Would appreciate three clicks of your mouse, thanks!
Ah i see the reddit outrage REEEEEEEEEE train has shifted gears onto visibility. Atleast it's not due to DICE directly fucking up which I suppose is a plus.
Easy solution is to introduce rimlighting onto character models that adjusts in intensity depending on range and stance. Rimlighting should be strongest for people prone in CQC and diminish gradually in correlation with range. This way, flanks won't be completely murdered at range while it fucks over fuckwits who sit in dark corners or prone in mud and drab rubble in CQC. Spectators can turn this rimlighting off for the sake of screenshotting. Another solution is to pull off a RO2 and make the character models super stand out via increased saturation of their clothes' color hues.
It's pretty whack that I have a much easier time spotting people in RO2 than in BFV considering they're both completely different games aimed at different audiences.
Any word on when custom servers are going up? I would be willing to pay some of the rent to have a server that's just all maps except Hamada.

My gameplay of tank getting wrecked by just me. That 2nd shot was mad hard.
I don’t get the visibility thing - why add rimlighting? If I’m killed by someone prone somewhere it’s my own fault for not checking the area. It’s just an awesome feature to finally be able to use your surroundings to be less vissible without glowing like a cartoon ghost like in bf4
Its to counteract the horrid fake HDR effect they have going on. Some areas on some maps are total pitch black for no reason other than artistic reason. Try looking into one of the barracks on aerodome and see if you can make out literally anything inside.
Because shit like this is never going to be fun under any circumstance

Even RO2, RS2, Insurgency and Siege all have much better visibility. Soldiers just do not pop at all in this game where even BF1 didn't have this large of an issue in CQC where 3D spotting would've been redundant. Don't even get me started on asshats who prone and become virtually invisible until you're lying on the ground screaming for a medic. It doesn't even have to be a severe universal rimlighting solution, just increase the contrast/saturation of soldiers and add rimlighting to hostiles in CQC or when they're prone/crouched.

You can hide in the shadows easily without the enemy having a chance of seeing you (if you know the dark spots of the map).
Your teammates (and your fp model) lights up like a christmas tree anywhere on the map like an ugly gmod model, while the enemy has "barely" any lightning, but in some maps and weather conditions the enemy rimlight just dissapear, making it harder to spot or differentiate them from debris, rocks or bushes.
It's basically because the game CRUSHES darks like nothing else, for no reason.
I did a major upgrade of my computer and now that I can run the game at a reliable and stable framerate my enjoyment of the game has tripled and I feel significantly more accurate and consistent in my shooting and gameplay.
I really wish visibility could be improved in a way that requires 0 rimlighting. I want it gone, it looks horrible.
I agree with some of the dark crushing but I honestly never had a problem with visibility. Players sitting still are hard to see, moving players are easy. Just the way it should be.
The only map I have trouble seeing people on in Devastation because everyone turns grey and the map is grey and everything just mushes together. On any other map I generally dont have problems. I had a lot more trouble when I first started playing because I had been so used to BF1 where characters popped, but now I've gotten used to it.
I made a post on Reddit about an idea I had for buffing fortifications since Devs seem to go there frequently, and I think fortifications are in a pretty bad place right now. Its kinda shitty that you cant even hide behind sandbags as cover from grenades and instead you'll just get blown away along with them.

My CPU is struggling with this game (i5-7400). Any advice which settings are most cpu intensive? I already disabled thrash effects like chromatic aberration, film grain etc.
I think it's a good idea but I think they should just outright buff fortifications aswell.
Hopefully they'll expand on the system to make it more interesting in general though, make it actually fun and useful.
tbh that'd be my ideal solution. I really liked how they were in the beta.
I extremely doubt that, fortifications is almost core with breakthrough. It helps cover flanks while funneling enemies into a killzone.
Fair enough, perhaps I exaggerate cause I'm just bummed out that it's so basic atm and I was hoping for something more, along with just having a bunch of other issues with the game.
I really wish they hadn't fucked the firerates on SLRs coming from BF1. They don't have the RoF to be really aggressive anymore like i enjoyed but they don't have quite the same long range punch like the bolt actions, even the new Selb1907. Not to say they CAN'T be effective but i really don't think they're in a good spot right now, especially in comparison to the Assault DMRs.
Fortifications are in a weird spot where I don't think they are incredibly useful in most cases but I'd be disappointed if any future Battlefield title didn't have them.
I've personally found them invaluable for pushing up points like across the bridge in Twisted Steel or holding points in GrOps honestly. I do thinkthey could be better though, and mounted guns are as useless as ever.
Yeah it's really map dependent. Twisted Steel is a good example because you can turn some of the flag caps into goddamn fortresses. I also like building the 3 walled sandbag bunker areas on maps like Narvik or Hamada and posting up with a sniper rifle or semi-auto.
What if they made it so molotovs damaged tanks again? That would indirectly buff fortifications by encouraging players to take molotovs, which for medic and sniper means giving up their only way of destroying fortifications.
On the topic of visibility, I do think upping contrast/saturation of soldiers would help a lot as even the Allies who are primarily green/yellow just don't pop out at all in maps like Devastation when they logically should be given their green/yellow palette vs the grey mush palette of the map.
Btw @Why485 didn't mean to reply, but Garry can't be arsed to make the site's reply option functional on mobile and allow me to delete your quote as per typical Garry
This game definitely fucks with my pixel hunting instincts
I find it really amusing that the Germans have arguably the best cosmetics and all look somewhat believable while the Brits look like a bunch of Airsoft clowns with all the mismatched gear and symbol pasting all over the place.
It's basically because the game CRUSHES darks like nothing else, for no reason.
