Battlefield Franchise Megathread v"Seriously, nobody made a new thread yet?"

Apex is a lot more akin to fortnite where as firestorm is akin to pubg. Thats what i believe their strategy is.
Finally got my hands on the 1922 Hotchkiss, and I can definitively say I will never willingly play frontlines again. The gun itself is pretty nice too, right out of the box it feels like an upgraded MG42, great rate of fire, moderate recoil, very good capacity. Also it now means the support and assault are tied for the most added weapons at three each, while the medic and recon are tied for the least at one each.
combined arms is out and you guessed it, it's bad.
no matchmaking, so it's either friends or solo.
also you can do dailies and assignments in them.
All this time for a mediocre coop that they were hyping up pre-release
Co-Op is a monumental amount of effort for a game where the main modes are lacking a shitload of content.
What the fuck is going on?
the death of dice as a gamemaking studio and not just an engine creator.
Combined Arms feels like the most absolute barebones early access 4 player coop game I've ever played. There are 8 missions on 4 maps and they all play almost identically. None of them take advantage of the fact that it's inside a Battlefield game; only two maps support vehicles with one being a call-in and the other being the jeeps on Hamada. The lack of a matchmaker seems incredibly shortsighted but at the same time I'm not really sure how long this mode is expected to last.
Man, it almost feels wrong finishing assignments in combined arms
I bet they're going to patch it out.
I'll be honest the Tide of War is such a shit concept.
Locking essential content such as weapons and new vehicles behind timed weekly challenges that are mostly tedious and grindy and aren't exactly fun, with little indication as to when that content will be available in the future.
It's really just fascinating how fundamentally wrong BFV is. How do you even manage to launch a control points game where capturing flags doesn't actually always do anything? That is the most fundamental element of the game design and they managed to screw it up.
I wouldn't really have a problem with it if you were able to buy the shit you've missed out immediately after that item's week ends as rn it's part of my fucking weekly schedule to get the ToW challenges done so that I wouldn't have to wait a month or two to try out the new content
I still really enjoy the game and ToW certainly helped in broadening my game mode horizon (breakthrough and frontlines are cash, fuck Ops), but the constant pressure of FOMO with the rewards can go eat a big dick
My buddy and I are getting the feeling that BFV Battle Royale is dead out of the gate thanks to Apex Legends showing up out of nowhere. There's hardly any room in the genre to begin with, and I would GLADLY see the BF5 version get axed completely at this point in favor of more and better traditional Battlefield content.
That final challenge this week is beyond inexcusable. Half your team waits in the spawn menu to click on a tank spawn button because they made it only count while you're driving.
Oh my god are DICE actually this fucking stupid?
It makes me so sad to see them drive this game into the ground when it so easily could have been the best Battlefield game in a while. I still think fundamentally there's a great game in there, but it's surrounded by so many dumb decisions outside of the moment to moment gameplay.
I really hope that they're using Lightning Strikes and its associate mega fucking dripfeed to get their shit together for the Firestorm update and beyond because its really fucking hard to be enthusiastic about this game despite the usual drivel of botched first content year
6 kills
After five hours I have SIX attacker tank kills.
It doesn't only count when you're driving, I got the final kill for it using a pintle gun.
I find it's a bit counter intuitive though, the description says you have to be attacking enemy objectives, but what that actually means is the enemy you kill has to be within the capture zone of an objective they already own, where you are is irrelevant and actually being on the objective yourself actually hurts your chances since once you neutralize the point it stops counting. The best way to go about it is to bombard positions from a distance, I got most of my kills just launching Sturmtiger rockets into C point on Aerodrome.
If you're in a vehicle and you get points for an "offensive kill," that's when it counts. I cheesed it the best by using a Staghound with the 20mm cannon and just playing Panzerstorm through the server browser, took 2 rounds. Just focus infy and evade the tanks.

Fucking finally.
Getting those 20 kills might be the most frustrating thing in TOW so far. Not only does it rely on utilizing the incredibly shit vehicles in a way that makes them incredibly vulnerable to other players, but
there's also no real guarantee that you CAN get a vehicle in the first place, and it's also even more conditional of being able to find other players on a capped flag.
It works if you're in a Gunner seat as well
If you guys are trying to do this week missions for StuG, then I recommend to pass it out. This vehicle is like Churchill Gun Carrier, but smaller. So yeah, it's small piece of shit, better to have Tiger, Ostwind and Pz 38 t in loadout.
The churchill gun carrier is a massive piece of shit. It just is slow, doesn't do as much damage, and the blast radius of the attacks doesn't seem to... work
Strongly disagree, if mostly because the Tiger is shit and the Stug is definitely better to have than that. It's basically just a budget Sturmtiger, shots are mediocre in firepower but with good blast radius and excellent range, also it reloads faster than every German tank except the 38. Oh and funnily enough one of the pintle guns is fully enclosed so the gunner on that one doesn't need to worry about getting shot and has a decent zoom, but still has full range rotation.
Even with AP rounds, it only does 15 damage against a tiger. What a total piece of garbage.
Tanks in general feel like shit, some are bizarrely weak, AOE damage seems broken, and I don't even know what ones to use because I get to use them once every 1000 years
just a quickie

So the only way to get the new tank is to do this weeks tides of war challenge? Seriously? I'm working a shit ton and won't have time for this.
At the time yes, although it's worth considering that all previous ToW rewards have become available via coins after their week ended.
