Goes back to me talking about suppression and snipers taking out MMGs despite them being sprayed down. This pretty much tells me to not play MMGs on maps like Hamada or Aerodrome, maps where i want that range and power the most. It's just frustrating as a support main, they give us this fuckin' incredible new weapon class, add another one as the first new gun in the game, then immediately neuter the hell out of it. Just let me live out my dream of being a WW2 Heavy Weapons Guy damnit.
Yeah it's a mess. It's obvious they made MMGs not with the close assault role in mind so why are they awful still in longer ranges?
Them nerfing SMGs is comical because it's evident that they... literally have no idea what the game shipped with somehow. Once again. Medic ONLY has SMGs, and they're already bad enough. And they have less weapons than every other class. What the fuck Dice? No seriously are they actively blanking on what they put in the game? This would be like if the scout class launched with four nearly identical bolt action snipers that weren't customizable and that was it.
Sounds like there's a mess going on behind the scenes.
The only good medic gun for medium range is the mp-40 with recoil upgrades. You can pick people off kinda far due to no recoil, but its still a nightmare to play medic on 70% of the maps.
Yet somehow the assignments for the MP40 are fucking hip fire based. what
I think the gameplay is fine, it's the maps that absolutely blow. There's no cover in ANY of the maps except for maybe rotterdam. Which means you're just getting sniped from every which way. It wouldn't be so bad if you could like, build fortifications anywhere, (at least let me set up sandbag fobs)
Literally how though BF1 had much worse maps on top of 3D spotting which guaranteed that you're going to get 70 HP nuked out of nowhere the microsecond you stand up regularly. Sinai, Scar, Empires Edge, Blitz and Fao all had only one or two flags on CQ that weren't exposed to every sniper in existence. The only maps in BFV that come close to emulating BF1's urethra grinding openness and bias for snipers are Hamada and Aerodrome. Even then, the lack of spotting and general abundance of non-flat terrain made avoiding distant fights much more manageable than it was in BF1. Fuck, Panzerstorm aka the one map expected to be like BF1's cancer, is actually manageable thanks to the abundance of those side trenches and trees that break sight contact with snipers. In general, BFV has much less instances of you getting nuked across fields thanks to non-flat terrain, abundance of foliage and lack of spotting compared to BF1 and games before. The only time I've nuked people and got nuked across fields is when I'm being a dumbass by running in the open or having my silhouette be on display for everybody. The game has a bunch of balancing issues right now, but I really doubt it's the map design.
Yeah for once i actually think the maps except Hamada are pretty damn good, i hated most of BF1s maps and would actively leave games for some of them like Fao Fortress.
Hamada is fucking atrocious.
Aerodrome is p fucking bad too. It's rare you can flank to back points because they thought it was okay to make you visible from every angle on the map.
I don’t really like the hangar meat grinding either
Sort of Spoiler Alert for anyone who didn't finish The Last Tiger https://youtu.be/3ktdmRDY7eA
ttk felt fine, but the netcode is such trash that every time you get killed it feels like you only got shot once or twice, they definitely should have put more time into improving the netcode instead of nerfing everything
Maybe it's where the objectives are located on the maps or something but yeah I mostly find myself running around a lot and even during games when I'm doing really well and getting top score I only seem to get like half as many kills as I did in BF1. Maybe I haven't played enough but I love shotguns and I had a great time with them in BF1 but not so much in BFV.
The only map I outright hate is Devastation. I think my first game of it was fun and every game since has been getting whack-a-moled from places that are nowhere near objectives. I wouldn't be surprised if my winrate on that map was like 90% but its just such a frustrating experience for me. I don't hate Fjell but I don't really like it either, it seems really zergy and sort of like a prettier, colder version of that free map they added halfway through BF1. Honestly I kind of like Hamada if only for the fact that I tend to spend most of my time on it in a vehicle. It is a fucking awkward map to play though, between it being Conquest Assault and the fact that it's almost like two maps conjoined by a bridge.

on todays episode of "shit DICE inexplicably broke while making BFV"... last night I was playing Aerodrome trying to get those "Get 20 kills while in an objective in 1 round" assignments done but every time I tried to set my bipod up on the perfectly level hangar floor. It refused to set, meaning I missed out on several possible kills. Ended up being literally one kill short on the assignment lol.
jackfrag's ongoing stream had him slap a repairing Spitfire with a predicted panzerfaust trickshot, and it survived with only half of its armor taken off from a direct hit. Goddamn, who thought the massive nerf was a good idea?
Camping second floor library on devastation is genuinely fun, try that. Afaik it wasn't intended, it just kinda slipped in with the pz faust changes.
Damn just when they got the TTK right in a bf game they nerf the shit out of it because their netcode sucks? How bad is it? I really want to experience it for myself but since the update BFV now crashes before hitting the main menu. thanks dice
Imo it feels overall worse to play. Previously good weapons like the FG42, STG, MMGs, feel resoundingly meh now and already meh weapons like the Lewis are just flat out terrible.
gonna give it a try now. Been talking a bit to the people I know and apparently the design team is not happy about the changes made sounds like a management/analytics thing going on in the background.
valentine AA with the canister shots is the ultimate anti-infantry tank. oneshots people from very far away and fires just as fast as with the default ammo. the maximum of 40 shots with it may seem low, but if you're accurate and good about hanging around near resupply stations, you're almost guaranteed to do great
Welp I managed to launch the game and play a grand op. In general all guns just feel like they got the flu overnight. It has gone from really satisfying gunplay to just kinda good gunplay but the difference is fundamental. All they really achieved is that snipers are now the only viable long range option since MMG's can no longer outgun them. Also they really made the G43 way much less fun to use. No actually everything is just less fun to use now. Even the tanks feel like they got their guns nerfed.
IMO it feels kind of like every single gun got turned into what the SMGs were. I didn't like the changes to start with, but the difference is massively magnified after trying Core Conquest. Going from the new TTK to the old TTK is just total night and day difference. I went into this expecting everything to be blown out of proportion and that it wouldn't be quite as bad as people make it seem, but I have to agree they just straight up didn't have a clue what they were doing here. I think I'm going to be sticking with Core Conquest until they come to their senses.
Silver lining for me is that I guess shotguns are even more fucking powerful now The drilling already destroys ass, but with slightly longer TTD, it's going to be an absolute pub grinder
Lol, just been playing. I can't believe there are other medics around still playing because that was an hnonest nightmare. Even with all shots on target the suomi could not take down 2 people in one small mag unless you're dishing HS's. Insane. MMGs are still somewhat viable (thank god) but they really should not have just walked in and tweaked every single weapon. Some more surgical precision would've been good here.
Conquest Core is the only way to play now.
Gun play is worse, but its still better than other BF games. Just sad they nerfed... everything. FG42 is still a great run-and-gun and deplorable which kills pretty fast G43 feels the same.. 3 shot kill M1 feels same, plinky and recoiless SMGs feel pretty bad, most people sticking with thompson
