Yeah the new TTK changes literally just made my friend and I just quit playing today after we were looking forward to do the new challenges.
dice what're you doin
Twisted steel on those first two points has little next to no cover from the top middle bridge area. It's also very flat except for a few trenches and trees, which are pretty campable. Brit side of narvik has no cover amongst the snow and the town is easy to hold for the germans. Fjell's B point and C point have very little in the way of cover when trying to push so you need to spam smoke most of the time to get anywhere. etc Also, I'm not talking about snipers, but more of there's no real safe-space to hide if someone's shooting at you. The terrain breaks up the long sightlines, but it doesn't fix that you're still exposed 3 out of 4 directions with no rocks to hide behind when you're getting blasted.
Just played a final stand game, I did not think it was possible but EA managed to find a way to make battle royale even worse. It would be impressive if it weren't so painful to actually play.
I was one of those assholes who actually thought the TTK was too short in the beta and had said that I thought it might be better if all the automatics had +1 to the TTK. I still don't even have BFV (I'm getting it tomorrow) so I'm curious to play these changes myself. I know the popular opinion is that it's ruined Battlefield forever, but that seems a bit hyperbolic to me. Another reason I liked the idea of a higher TTK is because it would put greater emphasis on headshots, which is something I think is a good idea because all the guns are basically laser accurate anyway because they have next to no recoil. Also that's how BF2's damage model generally worked, and I loved how much that game rewarded carefully aimed single-shot fire over fully automatic like you do in BF3/4. That said, I do think a more elegant way to do this (and I also suggested this during beta) would be to increase the recoil for all automatics across the board. At least 2X, because part of my problem with the TTK is that it's too easy to put down perfectly accurate fire and achieve the theoretical TTK of a gun. This would add more skill to firing automatic weapons, while also being an indirect buff to the semi-automatic and bolt-action rifles as you can't have some guy with an StG-44 spraying you down with near perfect accuracy 50-100 meters away. IMO you should be practically firing at the same rate as a semi-auto rifle if you want to be accurate with an assault rifle at long ranges.
Fucking amazing that out of all the games issues from the Coins bug to the infinite loading screens and dogshit UI, the first thing they somehow made a big think on was the TTK This is a whole new level of daft dear lord
I played a few matches, this is awful. Medic SMG's are a total joke now and recon SLR's are made even more obsolete; the two shot kill range is like 5 feet. Softlock on assignments still in. Spawning without weapons are still in. My recon proficiency assignment reset at some point. This game needed 6 more months, minimum.
sick, second week of tides of war and the last challenge is YET AGAIN bugged and doesn't work properly.
even if you are someone who wants the TTK to be increased this was a pretty dumb way to go about doing it because they didn't touch any other values, so weapons that were built around having poor handling but killing fast are now awful. Medic SMG's require 6 bullets to kill beyond 15 meters. People hate playing that class already and now it's worse. 5 round recon SLR's require 3 bodyshots unless you land a headshot. The G43 requires 4 bodyshots to kill. The M1 Carbine requires one more but it shoots faster and holds almost three times the ammo per magazine. It didn't ruin Battlefield forever but it was a very poorly implemented change that literally no one asked for.
this is so disappointing and baffling i really enjoy this battlefield and i wanted to jump on for a couple of games but hearing everyone's feedback on the TTK changes has killed my motivation

Ten bucks coins won't get fixed until paid currency is introduced
I got my CC yesterday, around 8k. Not much considering I spent more time at lvl 50 than under it. I feel cheated, the game made me believe that CC will flow just fine, and now I don't get shit.
I wasn't over 50 for long but I didn't get ANY CC at all.
It's not ruined BFV for me yet but it was basically the one thing they really shouldn't have touched compared to so much else. Overall it doesn't inspire confidence that they care about the community.
This week's ToW challenges are pretty easy, got them done in one and a half matches https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/265780/172737eb-24f6-43fa-bfd9-112f8caf0e81/ScreenshotWin32_Final_017.png It looks dorky as hell, but I loved the dorky Support medieval helmets from BF1 so I'm loving this dork dome. Do hope they'll come up with more lengthy ToW challenges as these are legitimately too easy and quick to be enjoyed. Anyway, in the process of getting this helmet, I find the TTK to be close to BF1 to the point where I unconsciously copy pasted my shotgun mindset from BF1 where I slide and jump around e shotting people across distances very easily due to the ridiculously slow ranged TTK. Ranged combat in general feels slower and I find both the enemy and myself being able to run away pretty easily mid-gunfight so long as its not CQC. Couple this with med pouches and lack of flat terrain and you get quite a few skirmishes that end with one side running away as opposed to being killed. Flanking is both easier and harder in the sense that I'm seeing people more confidently push up knowing they die slower while flanking enemies is a bit tougher due to the slower TTK. DMRs feel like shit though and I'd rather they buff Recon as opposed to neutering them.
Late to the party, but it feels like they somehow made medic weapons even worse. Seriously, we're talking like 10-13 rounds of MP40 at 20 meters doing 80 damage

Feels like just a feel good effort including that guy but I hope it will yield results. Fix TTD, back off a fair bit on the TTK.
Had a 600mb update a bit ago. related?
Todays patch was fixing the bug introduced in the last patch that broke fortifications and resupply stations.
I can already see the effects of increasing the TTK; zerging from BF1 has become a thing again and now I see people just piling up bodies at choke points until the other side has to reload/resupply. Flanking is still effective and most zergers have the situational awareness of a retarded sloth, but goddamn the return of the body stacking and group zerging is super noticeable.
God the AT mines for the Stuka is one of the worst things. I want to get to the 38mm cannons since they seem really good but I did not expect the bombs to be completely replaced by the at mines. I really miss my bomb because the AT mines are so damn situational but on the other hand you can freely drop the mines on tank spawn points to spawnkill in bases over the duration of the match which is nice.
The only thing i've noticed from the TTK is a massive increase in snipers. I've had 3-4 games now where half my team is made up of snipers who do fuck all but sit back and snipe. Join breakthrough game its fucking hamada and we're attacking M1A1 w/ medium range scope and autoclicker macro Squad lead is too busy waiting to spawn in AA tank so leadership passes to me. Half my team are snipers, half the enemy team are snipers. Spend half the round pushing my squad into semi-suicidal pushes because everyone else is busy doing fuck all. No medics because open map and shit guns. Every time we take a cap and move to take the next, the cap we just took gets taken back. Would stay and defend but no one else is pushing the caps. One by one my squadmates leave the game until its just me left. Give up and spend the rest of the game bombing their sniper nests, game ended with A and B still being in their control. Great job DICE
I think this write-up about the TTK change was quite well balanced: https://www.reddit.com/r/BattlefieldV/comments/a5hy74/dice_isnt_ignoring_your_feedback_theyre/
Where they get it wrong is that it is so unbelievably astoundingly STUPID to push these changes to live without prior community testing. They've just SHOWED that they can make a separate playlist to test changes with the "core" playlist but of course since they're retarded they did it the wrong way around. They could have avoided ALL of this if they instead put out a "testing" playlist first instead of potentially ruining everyone's fun. Heck, put out an assignment incentive to with CC reward to get more people to play it if you want. Anything but what they did. And of course for good measure the poster mentions how he doesn't "believe that this community is listening very well" even though that community is composed of thousands of people so it's a very nebulous and asinine thing to say.
Sure, but it's harsh to say that they are retarded for trying to change the game using the data that evidently show that people are dying too fast - not the core battlefield players but the other type of player who currently constitutes the majority of the users. A good player will still play well even if the feeling of the game changes, a worse player is forced to rinse and repeat die for hundreds of times before becoming competent enough to actually survive/play. Personally, I haven't performed as well at all in bfv until the TTK change was implemented and the number of "what the fuck was that" moments have decreased
They're not retarded for trying to change the game, they're retarded for trying to change the game without any prior community testing.
So uhh do the new tides of war assignments refuse to track for anyone else? I must have revived over 30 people in my squad as assault now but 0 got registered. Or does it not work in core for some stupid reason
Played 2 rounds, my only thoughts are semi autos suck, the game overall doesn't feel built for the slightly higher ttk but I dont mind much, and dice should fix the fuckin game instead of going straight to balance cause now really really isnt the fucking time to be bothering with balance instead of fixing the fucking game
