Oh man I really love the Ratburner helmet even if it looks goofy as shit It's a super stretch at this point, but I would totally fuck with seeing all the wacky BF1 support helmets back https://i.imgur.com/URffhuo.png These are so fucking goofy but good lord I love them
Man, BF1 had some great art direction. It was so easy to distinguish each class despite there being half a dozen factions. IIRC Assault had the Steel helms, face cloth and grenade bundle, Support had the Armored helms, Recon had the capes or heavy jackets and medic had the crutches. Class recognition is a big issue in BFV.
class recognition is an issue because every class can wear the same exact outfit.
Easy way to fix this is to hardcode cosmetics that greatly affect character silhouette Assault has nothing and has the outline of a regular soldier Medic get crutches like they do in the campaign and have the tallest silhouette outline Support has chunky as hell backpacks that gives them the widest silhouette Recon gets the radio comm set that's currently on squad leaders which doesn't really make sense to restrict to SLs as it isn't like SL-only spawn is a thing in the game Weapon stance differentiation is still a thing and I can often pick out Recons by their long rifles above their hip-level and Supports from them holding every weapon by the hip.
Yeah, I think it's still very much possible to add those distinguishing features while still allowing for customisation.
I wouldn't be surprised if they actually thought of hardcoding cosmetics per class at first as that's a thing currently in the campaign and that none of the cosmetics so far including in pre-release material, has altered the soldier silhouette in any meaningful way aside from the odd trench coat here and there. I'd imagine something as chunky as a big backpack torso cosmetic would be one of the first cosmetics to be highlighted.
But rimlighting is already there, and it's very aggressive. I wish I could turn it off.
Continuing my love for BF1's tacticool WW1 designs, I do hope we'll get a cosmetic set that's in the style of the Infiltrator elite class as that's imo the best Elite design with the Tank Hunter being a very close second https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DRA2hUhWkAAdXDg.jpg I notice that it's very significant at range, but is virtually non-existent in CQC where rimlighting would actually matter. Beta rimlighting was super overkill, but it really helped in noticing people hiding is bullshit dark corners or playing dead.
You also take on avg like 13 bullets (in practicality) ot kill a guy if you're not HSing. Suomi is barely usable like this.
Panzerstorm feels like a classic style Battlefield map and I love it. Though my framerate is crap on it, and pretty much any 64 player map, and regularly dips into 20fps. The most frustrating part of it being that even putting my graphics settings to absolute potato and 25% render scale it doesn't improve at all.
Honestly i expected to hate Panzerstorm a la Galicia but it's hella fun. I thought Support was my calling, turns out murdering tanks is.
user.cfg Not sure if the link links, but try putting this .cfg in your BFV folder. It helped me gain a few frames and even netted me consistent 60 FPS in areas that were 40-50 FPS before. You should also try turning your render scaling slightly above 100% as Frostbite is one of those engines that tells the GPU to fuck off and not utilize itself properly sometimes unless you deliberately push it to.
I can't stress how fucking pathetic SMGs are. you can literally get the drop on someone with the MP40 with a headshot and they still have time to fucking aim and kill you.
Play conquest core, only way to play atm
It really would make more sense, that's how TF2 retains class identification with cosmetics, the majority are class specific and those that aren't are significantly less visually distinctive.
Me and a friend tested the new TTK. http://i.4cdn.org/vg/1544922541532.webm 4 body shots to kill with the krag-jorgensen Most bolt actions now don't even kill on a head-shot at point blank. what the fuck were they thinking
uhhh I'm like 95% sure friendly fire damage in the gun range is reduced
shots-to-kill with all of the weapons we tested were consistent with their new target, DMRs took 3 body shots as expected and SMGs/rifles had same body-shots-to-kill
Yeah, bolt actions are one of the few weapons not affected by TTK.
im 100% sure bolts still instakill with headshots at any range. FF must have a lower damage multiplier.
Awkward
anyway, all LMGs are now trashfire bar maybe FG42, KE7. The bren/lewis have a TTK that is somehow longer than reheating a pizza slice. Even with headshots, the lewis only does like 28 damage a headshot, 19 bodyshot.

It’s fucking embarrassing when the people that usually are quite literally shills for DICE are calling your decision outright stupid. like outside of a a handful of completely shit on subreddit posts, the changes are completely reviled. there is a zero percent chance that they tested it either, no human would pick up the Medic class during play testing the new TTK and world go “hmm this is fine” There are legitimately zero areas in which SMGs are ever a preferred weapon to have. You fucking fail at getting the drop on people, it’s like every SMG is the Klobb
Holy fuck, fuck Narvik so goddamn much At the very least Fjell and Aerodrome have the redeeming quality of being fun infantry grinders, but Narvik is so fucking bad that I legitimately quit the moment an Aerodrome match ends as Narvik comes right after that.
The sad thing about this is that people probably feel the same about aerodrome too.
I like that DICE has the time to make the gunplay in their game fucking miserable but not the time to ban two blatant cheaters who managed to get to rank 50 without even trying to hide it.
Ive actually played a game with the first one, all he does is pick up the AA tank as fast as possible, then sit at spawn and use it to snipe at points to pad his K/D had like 110/10 at the end of the round even though his team ultimately lost.
Oh man, Core servers are full of sweaty players. Been a while since I had to actually sweat this much to keep a good score as opposed to the normal servers where the slower TTK and abundance of oblivious casuals which makes getting ludicrous scores not too much of a hassle. Not to stroke my cock, but I think I'm super spoiled when I'm getting frustrated over getting just below 3 K/D
This game has a chance to match FO76 in terms of fuckery.
