Super Smash Bros. General v21: A River in a Dry Land

I wish there was some sort of detailed comparison between 4 and Ultimate's CPUs because as a CPU aficionado (i.e. friendless smash addict) it's bugging me seeing shit like Mega Man throwing the saw blade into the ground and picking it back up before throwing it and wondering if that's actually new behavior based off players or if I'm just not remembering 4 well. I don't remember them being this proficient at combos, stage spiking, or taking advantage of ledge trumping to set up a bair kill on a hanging opponent before either.
I suspect, but can't confirm, that the CPUs in this game were "trained" using the learning technology from the amiibos, which was why the Japanese pro players were brought on to "bugtest".
Considering how incredibly simple Amiibo AI is (tl;dr they're just a list of moves with hit percentages and they prefer to use moves that they land more often as they level up) I don't think the amiibos really contributed much to the AI.
Even as someone who is neutral on Minecraft (as opposed to being a fan, and therefore biased), I honestly kinda want Minecraft Steve based on how creative the representation would be.
I mean, I obviously want Banjo first, but I would legit be cool with Minecraft Steve too is what I'm saying.
Steve would be a weird one because Minecraft's artstyle is so limiting that even official material goes off model without reservation to have characters actually animate and emote. Imagine if Steve were to be as 1:1 with the source material as possible with the practically single digit number of animations available.
what about the orange and purple ryu skin
To be fair, people would still flip their shit and Master Chief is better representative of Microsoft as a whole, just not as tangential with the core base and a bit dated in terms of demand for crossovers by 10 years.
I literally said that no, Amiibo AI is barely anything beyond picking moves that land, the laat time somebody said this like 2 days ago. There's no way anything was learned from amiibo AI (credit to Rellow for linking a source).
I just unlocked Snake, and boy am I shocked. I realized how much I relied on the floatiness of Brawl to be good with him, and that is a really hard pill to swallow. I was so sure he would be my main, but now I don't know.
I see your point, but I also think that limitations can inspire creativity. Look at all the weird characters like Game and Watch, Duck Hunt, Piranha Plant, etc that still work. Granted, those characters have more art style to reference, but I still think that Sakurai could make something work at this point.
I'm hoping for the Squeenix rep to be Crono, because 1. no one expects it and 2. it would (hopefully) result in some kick ass music tracks getting added

Their evil schemes were unveiled!
Snake apparently caught wind and wanted to see the chaos unfold.
He's there for emotional support and is going to give him chocolate afterwards.
Do any of you have some sort of input delay between the controller and the game? I feel like there is 1/4 second delay and its really messing with my mind, i feel like I didnt have this problem when I played on the 3DS version, I cant even do pressure with air attack with how bad the game feels for me
If I can remember, Ultimate apparently has the worst(?) input lag between all games. There was a video I watched that explained it better.

To add onto it, the 10-frame buffer has some atrocious retention of control stick inputs, resulting in abominations like this in addition to the input lag:

Don't Park on the Grass 2018 Top 8 has been on fire with crazy matches, get to watching it if you aren't already;

Smash Bros is the type of game where I don't chose my main, my main chooses me. I go in saying "this time i'm going to get really good with link" and now I'm maining Wii Fit Trainer. I suck at sticking with characters based just on liking them and/or their games.
whats fd?
Final Destination?
Is there a list of all spirits appearing in the map in WoL mode and about where? I wanna get Liquid Snake and think he might've been there somewhere
I'm the opposite, I only pick mains based on how much I like them and their games. If there's a character whose game I haven't played then I probably won't main them even if I like their playstyle because it feels wrong for some reason
Ike is an example, tried him in training mode and against some level 9s and thought he was pretty fun, but I've never played his games so it doesn't feel right for me to main him
Maybe it's just because I play Souls games, but long input buffers have never bothered me
As long as they have the right priority, they let you do tons of stuff either frame-instant, or frame-perfect, every time, once you get the hang of them
The input lag in the game isn't so much the issue. It certainly isn't ideal, but a 6 frame delay is pretty common for modern fighting games these days. I believe that's Tekken 7's current input delay.
The real issue comes with the buffer. I've had one too many instances where I've somehow buffered a double roll without really wanting to or weird oddities with moves and movement. It's not a consistent issue, but it's enough to have annoyed me, especially when you combine it with the input delay that gets added to the online.
Either the buffer needs to be toned down, or it needs to be an option you can change/disable. I can see the benefits of the buffer system in general, but the buffer is just way too generous in its length.
I can only imagine how frustrating it might be for an actual pro Smash player though. I doubt Sora/Bamco will do anything about it, so I'm almost afraid this might end up gimping the game a bit competitively.
Prioritizing evasive or defensive actions in the input queue is ideal, for games that have long input queues
As long as you KNOW there is a buffer, you can utilize it, but it requires you to be more certain of your inputs, which might be a bit of a learning curve for Smash, I'll admit
