Sakurai didn't choose where the DLC characters could come from
Being told Nintendo made the list and that Nintendo put Joker on that list means they could have put literally anyone on that list.
No, it literally means nothing except that Nintendo put Joker on that list. It's not even an advertising thing unless Nintendo is really stingy enough to take an offer to add a character to Smash to advertise games only releasing on PS4 (the Dancing Moon/Star Light spin-offs that just released worldwide).
But Paladins on Switch is a port, where it originated on PC and other platforms. So I don't think that necessarily counts. Now keep in mind, I am not saying these things to ruin anyone's dreams about doing the Scout's Home Run taunt and bashing Mario's skull into a windshield, its to speculate and determine if there is an actual chance of them getting in. But those characters' series have a history of either originating or being on a Nintendo console. It's a similar thing with Sonic where even though he started on the Sega line of consoles, he had games made for him on Nintendo consoles, like Sonic Advance.

That really has nothing to do with it. Persona 5 didn't get in because Nintendo decided they wanted to honor history of SMT on Nintendo by plugging the sub-series with no history on Nintendo, that's stupid. "I got your brother a present because it's your birthday" stupid. Persona 5 got in because it's fucking hot right now and they want to make a splash with their DLC. If SMT didn't exist and Persona spawned from nothingness we'd still be seeing Joker in Smash because it's a hugely popular game that released in the right time frame. It's the same with Cloud. You can argue "oh but previous Final Fantasy games were on Nintendo" and it's a moot point because none of those fucking games are in Smash Bros in ANY capacity. FF1-6, FF Tactics, FF8-15 all have nothing to do with Smash. Cloud is in as part of the Final Fantasy 7 franchise. It's just another dumb fan rule thinking there has to be a link back to Nintendo, when it's more like prolific characters will have at least cameo'd on Project X Zone or have had a spin-off on a Nintendo system at some point. Watch as we get a character with no direct link back to Nintendo from a company that never worked with Nintendo and people react with "Well now it really is anything goes!" for the 4th time since Snake.
I think Nintendo made the list so they can tell Sakurai that those characters should have no issues granting royalty and whatever legal mumbo jumbo stuff you gotta do from the company.
Here's an old favorite of mine https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/082/408/737.png
Valve has to give a fuck about it and they clearly shown that they don't. Besides, it's a very gun heavy game. You'd have be super creative to make a moveset that doesn't use any of the shooty shoots. Altho, Heavy being the main with his Smashes and Special being the other classes could work.
I was always too afraid while playing Melee with people to go to the bottom part of the map because it's where everything fucks up for me I start missing my punches and inevitably fall through the gap between HYRULE FIGHT CLUB and trapped between a rock and a hard place. I can safely say I've fallen between that by my own mistake than any other time I've killed myself in this series by my own hand.
Well, we do have a tall, strong, obese, Russian-themed boxer with a large gun and a utilization of bananas as a reference point.
As much as I'm 101% down for Heavy (or any other TF2 class) getting into Smash, I wonder how they'd pull off letting Heavy use his iconic minigun since they apparently don't allow realistic looking guns? I mean I guess the minigun in TF2 is cartoony enough but also not quite.
After I saw this video back in 2011 I tried to come up with a move set for all the the mercenaries and I think I had to put a lot of focus on their melee and secondary weapons, but it was doable. The unlockables from their respective updates help a lot too, like using the Huntsman for Sniper, though some of them lose a lot of their character when they don't use bullet weapons (the Heavy and Sniper probably suffering the worst)
Ok since I can't seem to find one, has anyone on the internet put together a list of which spirits stats benefit which characters yet? i.e. I know Magic Up affects Zelda, Robin, maybe Palutena. Stuff like that. I know some are obvious but then you have people like Ganondorf who uses physical attacks seemingly charged with magic and smash attacks with a greatsword and I don't know if I should be using magic up physical up or melee weapon up. Just a list of "this works with this character, but this doesn't" would be helpful. Or is this all obvious in game and I'm just dumb for asking?
I feel like pointing out spin off games where the character plays a relatively minor role is really stretching it. To say Final Fabtasy I assure you Valve would say yes to literally anything as big as Smash Bros. They are definitely willing to let other people use their IPs considering Portal Bridge Constructor's existence and Gordon Freeman stuff in Final Fantasy 15.

ROB has less. He doesn't even have a stage dedicated to him or one of his games. He has the Gyromite theme and the one sticker in Brawl of him in Mario Kart DS.
Headsup for players trying to get better placements in ranked: Apparently, even though taunts are disabled, the D-pad is not at all otherwise, so the most effective usage of it is to set all D-pad directions to "Shield" so that you can escape grabs faster and even get out of being buried quickly at high percents by rotating the D-pad quickly (since each direction counts as a separate input).
If we were to get any songs from P5 (1:1, no remixes, no Clouding it, etc), I at least expect: Last Surprise, Life Will Change, Rivers in the Desert, and Wake up, Get Up, Get Out There There are a few other songs that could also fit into Smash as well, but I feel those 4 are the most likely and fitting overall.
I'd be absolutely shocked if Rivers in the Desert didn't get in. It's one of the most popular SMT songs ever made.
What if we get an overwatch character instread.
Blizzard would advertise Overwatch on toilet paper if they thought they could make any money off of it. Let's not sink that low.
On the subject of Persona. . . . . I know this isn't necessarily a new detail, per se, but considering the amount of fighter slots available for DLC internally, doesn't anyone find it suspicious that the DLC fighter pass pack of 5 is called "Challenger Pack 1"? There's no reason to give it a number, even if futureproofing for a second pass, if they were only intending on one set of character DLC.
Each set of characters is a challenger pack, Joker is Challenger Pack 1. We don't know 2 through 5 yet. They're packs because they contain a stage and a set of music.
it'd be fucking tracer too, I'd have to deal with that annoying Cunt in a second game.
Oh, RIP. For some reason I somehow misinterpreted it because I usually buy DLC in bulk.
Not going to be possible because I'm already Tracer.
I don't understand how you guys haven't seen the future like me and know that Master Chief is already in with Echo Fighter of Arbiter.
If this happens and Kirby's copy ability isn't a Spy mask, I'm trading my game in.
Has anyone compiled/started a list for what attacks are buffed by which spirit skills for fighters
