I just don't have a consistent friendbase who wants to play. I feel like I need to get involved in my local scene before I dedicate all my time to Smush. Also Joker's reveal ruined my idea of maining anyone but them.

Chrom and Richter were the only 2 slots keeping me from a perfect 100% run before the ending just cause of how obtuse their unlock methods are compared to the rest. Felt like a chump having to go back in and get them.

reminder that fire emblem got two new unique victory themes for just 1-2 characters each in ultimate, that play at full length, and will definitely get another one when the new advertisement character is added

I was pretty confused when I didn't get Richter in the obvious dungeon he should have been in, but at least there was the dungeon-completion-star to let me know I actually did miss him somehow. Turns out resetting the dungeon and using the shortcuts to stock up on cannonballs "just in case" isn't as clever as I thought it was.

It's still not more popular than Kirby, Donkey Kong Country. Animal Crossing or The Legend of Zelda (and obviously can't light a candle to Pokemon or Mario), which is why people still have an issue with it. It doesn't help that the way that the FE characters fight sword-wise isn't even creative outside of Ike and Robin. If representation wasn't so blatantly biased toward Awakening and Fates in both Smash and FE:Warriors, people would actually not mind so many reps since it's bullshit that we have 3 Awakening reps + Mary Sue and no Lyn or Hector when both characters are far more popular than literally every playable FE in Smash besides Ike. Heroes did series representation right and the polls lined up with pretty much exactly what FE fans expected outside of Marth being somewhat less popular than anticipated and the FE devs being shocked that loli Tiki wasn't a major sensation. They've been catering near-exactly with the most fan-popular FE characters, globally.

Fire Emblem really isn't as popular as people make it out to be and it's representation in Smash is a result of a bunch of factors, none of which are "it deserves it"/"it's popular"/"it sells well". It gets clones because they're easy to make. They fill the roster and FE has plenty of characters that fight similarly enough to serve as clones. It gets new characters because new games equating new characters was the norm until Ultimate. Ultimate is the outlier in that games like Xenoblade X didn't get characters just for existing as big Nintendo releases from last gen. It got promotion characters because of fortunate timing. Sakurai's even said if Awakening released at a different time it might not have gotten anything in Smash 4. None of that is "Awakening sold well so it gets a bunch of shit". Those aren't rules. Plenty of franchises meet those rules even better than FE does and have jack to show for it. The best example is Xenoblade which had constant releases and had a hugely successful release recently but even Donkey Kong and Wario have plenty of games and decent sales. We didn't get a WarioWare character every time they came out with a new game.

The worst thing is that not even FE fans like the FE representation in Smash, so the majority of the actual fanbase get thrown under the bus while being unhappy with the same shit outsiders are pissed off about.

At least this time we got Chrom as a 0 effort clone instead of some rando from an unreleased game again.

I noticed crossup aerials with Ryu and Ken send the opponent towards you for a better combo, just like in SF2. The SF representation in this game is amazing, even down to things that only people closely familiar with the mechanics of a 27 year old game would notice.

I'm fine with the FE stuff in Smash and I'm not even that big of a FE fan. Sans the echoes, I think all the characters play fun and different enough. Hell, I never cared about "overrepresentation" in general and that people get way to uppity about it. This coming from somebody who's favorite series in Smash is DKC. Would I like Dixie as a character? Yeah, I would, but I'm not going to cry or hold some petty grudge about it because another FE or Pokemon are playable instead lol.

It's hard liking Lucina while people keep complaining about all the FE characters needing to be removed so Banjo and Geno can magically take over their slots.

Why'd they keep Isabelle silent anyway? She doesn't require a voice actor and it worked just fine for MK8. Not a fan of how many completely silent characters there are in this game.

If we had to have had another Fire Emblem rep I admittedly think it would have been nice if it was say... Sigurd or something instead of Chrom. Obviously choices like Ephraim or Hector would be more unique but Sigurd or Leif or something would probably be one of the best fits for adding a new Fire Emblem character as an echo fighter. He's a bit of a fan favorite and would give some rep to an era of Fire Emblem that basically isn't represented at all in Smash outside of Spirits, even if he was just gonna be another blue-haired Marth clone. As much as I appreciate what Awakening did for the series three reps from it does seem kind of excessive. And this is ignoring the fact that I personally think Chrom is one of the more white-bread, boring protags in the series Alternatively, Celica would actually probably work really well as a Robin Echo Fighter. Rework the spells so they damage her a-la Pichu instead of having a durability gauge, replace Chrom in her Final Smash with Alm and viola!

So where does Soldier come into this? He frequently used in a lot comics and videos more so than Spy. If you ask me the 3 faces of TF2 are Heavy, Scout and Soldier in that order. but enough about this let's get back into Smash.

If I had to pick a Sonic rep, it would be Amy. If nothing else, her hammer is good enough material for a moveset distinct from Sonic. She's not a dumbass, an edgelord or a coward. She was introduced in 1993, before Sonic games became shovelware. It would be some incredible irony after her absence in Sonic Mania The Sonic fanbase would shit itself in anger.

I wouldn't mind the fire emblem characters if they were all unique and played different, instead of the 8 marth clones we have now. (Robin is really cool for example) All the pokemon look and play quite differently from each other so I don't really notice the fact there are more of them compared to fire emblem.

Sakurai is a fan of smash bros and him putting Marth and Roy into the game was his attempt to help a struggling series. He kept adding Fire Emblem because he didn't want it to die and it was his way of giving the series a signal boost. Poor guy, nobody told him he can stop now. Fire Emblem is probably "Safe". So he just keeps adding them, too busy to look at the news ticker
