Finally got the game and I'm really liking Kirby so far.
Chrom got in because they kinda had a model for him. You can see it in Robin's final smash. Lucina got in because she was going to be a skin but ended up separate. Roy got in because Melee had 6 extra characters, and "hey, let's promo the upcoming game". So you have 3 characters getting in as pretty much extras. And then you have Corrin, which was asked for for promotion, but ended up as a quite unique character.
I never get the argument of too many Fire Emblem or Pokemon characters.
This might just be a me thing, but the biggest problem I have is that from a distance a lot of the characters look the exact same or too close in general. Marth, Chrom, Lucina and Young Ike with the camera pulled back all going at it in a FFA I'll honestly lose track of who's who.
Excuse me for being naive as I don't play Fire Emblem, but is there any very notable characters that use axes or lances?
Azura from Fates (and she is more of a support unit) is a Lance user, and Hector (aka the best buddy of Roy's father, potential SO of Lyn, and potential father-in-law to Roy) is an Axe user. Pretty much the most important ones. Also, Ike can use Axes upon promoting, and Chrom and Lucina can use Lances when promoting as well.
Chrom was originally going to be in Wii U/3DS Smash but was cut due to being considered too similar to Ike and Marth at the time, and then they made Robin instead. So Crhom was already modele with a partial animation set, and then ultimately got reused into Robin's final smash. And now as an echo, he's pretty half-assed with some wrid animations and odd hit frames, yet is pretty good. His animations and hit frames are the worst part though. If there was another FE character, it would have to be a heavy armored one that doesn't use a sword. Hector please (allthough I could settle for Fredric). And really, Fate's Representative shoudln't have been Corrin, it should have been Arthur. There's no justice here. But, at least Corrin's moveset is different enough from the other FE sword characters, who follow the same general ruleset. I just hope that none of the 5 upcoming characters are sword fighters. No more swords please.
I not 100% familiar with everything post-Ike's games, but Hector from Fire Emblem (I think that's FE6) uses an axe, and Ephraim, from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, uses a lance. They are both Lords and are considered main characters.
Richter felt easy because you get a star when completing a sector. So I just... did everything. It's basic game design. 100% completing something usually nets you something or you get rewarded by having more stuff. Hell, Righter's section rewarded you for exploring more then Chrom's section, especially from what it's based on. Chrom's hint is "The branded swordsman lies in the forest." or something vague like that. I thought I needed one of the Links since they kinda are branded by the Triforce in a way. Nothing hints at jumping in a chest that I forgot an enemy jumped out of because it was one of the first things I did days ago. Especially when nothing of the sorts happens ever again. I don't even think it's a thing in any of the Zelda games. So yea, obscure.
Edgelord from the upcoming game can also use Axes as well as a Sword so there's minor hope that if she gets shilled against everyones wishes that she'll at least use her axe instead.
There's an owl statue that says "The forest treasure is the path to the branded swordsman" Way more obvious than you're making it out to be, not really vague at all.
Did it? Well, fuck. Guess I was real fucking tired then. My brain must have been reading it completely wrong. No more 1am Smash for me then. My bad for the stupid then.
I've been converting my replays to video and it outputs at 720p60fps, at least on tablet mode. I believe it also outputs at the same quality while docked, but I could be wrong. Is anyone willing to fact check that?
Yeah I was confused because I don't remember how I unlocked Chrom at all. Richter however, the game was beaten before I realized how to get him to appear
If Smash Bros is still using the background premise of a kid/teen/young adult playing with figurines, that must be the most bipolar motherfucker ever
I guess him being a young adult explains the Bayonetta figure...
My capture card claims the game is 1080p 60FPS docked, but it might be lying, as it also says the switch is a PS4 when I connect it (yet it can ID the Wii U and Xbox 360 just fine). I wouldn't doubt the game actually running at 720p though.
Ok so I'm slightly conflicted. On the one hand, it's rough being a Ganon player, especially online where any amount of lag is going to fuck you over and that's before going against a character that can run circles around 'Dorf. But on the other hand I've been laughing at this clip for like the past 15 minutes because it's so goddamn funny
What sucks is I used to be super interested and hyped for the series since Melee when Marth and Roy were the cool outsiders and the Ike games looked really appealing to me, the whole waifu sim route they've taken is so disappointing I liked the part in WoL where a riddle was "who is Chrom's sister" and surprise surprise, it's the loli
im not familiar with that part of WoL but Lissa does not come across as a loli in any sense to me.
Seriously who greenlit this https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1883/a134b9f8-4873-4727-8b1b-bd125c91ae28/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1883/420d47a5-f8f1-44db-9d3b-091af0a4c0ca/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1883/b7724be1-f909-4c79-bb96-a032acb14139/image.png
My favorite FE game was Path of Radiance I still gawk at just how far things have slid since then
Boy I'm having a real main crisis in Ultimate. I really don't know who I wanna play.
yes you do, his name is King K. Rool ;)
Random is genuinely fun this time around because of how many characters there are. Try doing some matches with random selected and see if any character sticks.

when did the word "loli" stop meaning "literally toddler-looking 500 year old dragon thats clearly used for weird fanservice and is probably in some creepy clothing" and start meaning "literally any character that somewhat resembles someone young looking and who is female"

Well as soon as I said that, I unlocked R.O.B. Pink ROB aka STR.O.BERRY is now my main.
"Loli" has morphed a couple times. Like 10 years ago it was "This character is small and has a flat chest" then it became "This is just a kid" then "This person looks like a kid but isn't!" and now it "Eh that person looks young"
