Going to be honest, I kind of love the massive disconnect between people telling me that I shouldn't like Roy and that he's a lame character in his own game and how his portrayal doesn't fit at all, and all of his moves and mannerisms in Smash 4/U being really cool and him being my favourite out of the Fire Emblem cast, competing only with Ike. There's that core group who will always go "noooooooooo stop liking roy" every time he's brought up.

With Splatoon it's just biker shorts which are not inherently sexual and a few animations being heavy on the hip sway for the sake of the inklings being very flowy in their portrayal, and although I can't think of any personally maybe you could over-analyse a couple of the outfits if you squinted at them extra hard. At no point did I get the impression that Nintendo wanted me to jerk off to the inklings where if Fire Emblem wants you to jerk off to something they'll have a cutscene where the camera lovingly pans across the character's cleavage and ass.
In Fire Emblem's case of Tiki you get what is basically a child in a bikini parading around while Nintendo pats you on the back and says "it's okay for you to want to put your dick in it, she's actually a thousand years old!" which is an entirely different can of worms.

No-one's stopping you from liking Roy, it's just pretty well known that his entire fanbase only know him from Smash. He's Captain Falcon with a sword in both reputation and playstyle. Hell Sakurai admitted his Melee depiction was inaccurate to the actual game and then doubled down on that for the DLC because he's "Roy from Melee", so you're not exactly dropping nuclear bombs here.
I'm just glad Snake gets to be accurate with his MGS1 voice, MGS2 sneaking suit, MGS3 alternate skins and occasional butterfly C4, MGS4 stage, with a new final smash involving a flare more akin to MGSV.
