Hey, at least landing in that water pit isn't a death sentence for this car.
Nice mirror shave at 0:32
My setup above was a Racing Sunburst with slippy drift tires, and the aim was to go sideways as much as possible - wasn't exactly trying to set a lap time
However, the engine was beefed up quite a bit from the default Racing Sunburst. (Boost pressure increased from 10 to 20)
Anyways, I tried again with an AWD modded Piccolina. Similar setup, but smaller car. I still couldn't get a single lap where I got everything perfect, so here's one where I smashed a tire at the end:

I managed to port Big Willow from Gran Turismo Sport into BeamNG! Just a proof of concept though, I don't really plan on turning this into a full map. If I can figure out how to get the materials to save then I'll probably upload it here.

Your framerate fills me with envy. I just about push 30 FPS on Grid Map...
Ryzen 3xxx, hurry up and get here so I can spend this saved-up money already.
Here's a download for Willow Springs. Extract "willow" into <BeamNG user folder>\levels

Both Big Willow and Horse Thief have high quality meshes, unfortunately Streets of Willow Springs doesn't. I added a shitty road texture for a better sense of speed.
This is actually my biggest complaint I have with beam.ng, it really doesn't deliver a sense of speed at all. 60mph feels the same as 120. Besides adding peripheral blur, I don't know how one would fix it either.
Wider FoV increases sense of speed.
Otherwise, it seems like a very unimportant thing to me. Speed in BeamNG is correct, I don't see why it should try to make it seem like things are going faster than they are.
oh god, please work more on it if you can! good racing maps are the one thing beamng really really needs
Speaking of maps, What are some good ones? I'd like to explore stuff and see other nostalgic type maps. There's a rainbow road, but ehh, it's not the best.
eSBR: Added a reversing speed limit.
They heard your complaint
Been working on this Assetto Corsa Nordschleife port. Sooo much better than the current one. Here's a sneak peek

That looks brilliant!
Holy hell dude, that's some stellar work!

Had no idea what was causing this bug. Looked for hours for the issue and then I found this little fucker in the collision model

Can someone recommend me some well-made vehicles (as in, not just a single body but lots of parts) that are fun to crash, destroy, etc?

This one is among my favorite mods
i neeeeeeed it!
any good racing maps (preferrably with time trials)?
Here's an early access™ version of the Nordschleife with time trials:

Make sure rolling start is enabled.
Help me look for collision bugs like the video above. Also, don't overshoot the last corner or else you'll fall into the shadow realm.
I also tried porting a Dirt Rally map, and here's the result

There is a distinct lack of semi-trucks, or even just parts for the t-series. It's one of my favorites, and all I can do is change the engine and grille with mods. There used to be a mod pack with tons and tons of add-ons for the t-series including a body kit to turn it into a true racing truck, but that was abandoned years ago...
Been a while since I last started up BeamNG, the tire physics are amazing now. I think the driving at high speed(250+) still needs some work as it feels like there isn't enough downforce, but all the lower speed driving is really good.
Is it difficult to setup a wheel and shifter for this game?
Nope. Plug and play, pretty much - but you'll probably want custom button bindings which is really easy to set up.
Additionally, you might want to fiddle a bit with force feedback if you're unhappy with the default settings.
