Monster Hunter: Iceborne is like the Bloodborne of Iceborne

I ended up doing him solo using dark devourer and sticky/cluster bombs.
AT Teo is basically just a battle of attrition.
As a Hammer poundmaster. I like fighting Teo. Most of his attacks have just enough time to get in a charged hit, or in the case of the flamethrower I can do the golfswing combo. Hang to the side of his head and everything misses. Many of the locations in Recess where you fight him have ledges where I can do aerial slams as well. Though I am more cautious with the sliding aerial bludgeon move since it locks you in and if you start it and Teo decides to nova, you're done for.
I think this is my current build? I probably swapped flinch out when I soloed him, might've done max might instead. Armor was all fully augmented too, about 500 total defense I think. With both attack charms, and the skill effects, typically sit around 1600 attack power after demon and might. Heat guard stops the aura from dropping you and negating peak performance.
ATeostra is boring as hell.

In awe at the size of this lad.
I'm OK with AT teostra because it's the only AT monster I managed to beat so far.
Killed him once with Hammer, which was difficult but really funny how you could KO him into submission. I then switched to a defensive crit draw GS build, which was a lot safer but not as fun.
Every now and then the game just completely stops taking controller inputs for me, only started happening when I picked the game up again a few weeks ago after a couple months break
Alt-tabbing and replugging the controller aren't sure fire ways to fix it either. Anyone else having this bug? Can be really dangerous suddenly losing control mid-hunt
at great jagras is going to be a thing

This fucker chased me and another player for the entire fight. Screamed when we were trying to avoid Luna and fucked up the entire hunt. We did it in the end but jesus christ your thorny bastard, GO AWAY.
So I've been grinding AT&T in the last few days of the event, and I found that a crit-draw GS was a really efficient way to do it due to how safe it is. This had me thinking a bit about near-100%-affinity builds in general and how they might fit into a "regular" skilled player's runs for teo when considering Crit draw vs for example Max Might, which is closer to the current meta:
MHW Builder - Crit draw
MHW Builder - Max might
I'm wondering which of these configurations may be the most efficient for someone like me who struggle to get full uptime on WEX+Max Might on AT Teo. Since CD guarantees 100% affinity no matter where you hit, at some point it ought to become more efficient? A complicating factor is that charged crit draws are obviously much easier to land than TCS:es...
Why are you having Crit Draw along with WEX in Crit Draw build. Crit Draw itself is already 100% affinity on Draw, get an affinity augment on the Wyvern Ignition and 1 level of critical eye + 3 Crit Draw will be 100% every draw. If you don't have the augment, then like 1 level will be enough otherwise it's just wasted. Hell I'd even just go for more Critical Eye/Quick Shealth/Focus myself. Don't bother with the true charge if you're struggling with the fight to begin with and just do Draw Charge multiple times when it's downed.
Monsters leaving a locale might actually be the most straight up retarded shit I've seen in a video game lmao
Like that one thing single handedly ruins the enjoyment of the game
"to prevent farming" is a totally retarded excuse too because there is zero anti-cheat at all and

Lmao just kill it faster
*Kyle877 will leave the locale soon *
Thanks for the input. As you sort-of pointed out, the devil is in the decorations. I have 3 WEX jewels but only one MM and Expert. Since I can slot WEX in, picking both WEX and Crit Draw is simply about hedging my bets. Specifically, I'm hoping that the extra damage from non-weakspot crits + the occasional WEX-augmented TCS when the opportunity presents itself will make up for an otherwise overall weaker non-TCS-focused build. However, I guess it's pretty much impossible to calculate, and as I've been trying out various sets I've found that practice against AT monsters probably makes a bigger difference than armor set theory-crafting.
I hate this behemoth strat where someone mounts him and just stays on him. Ya we can just smack him until he uses ecliptic meteor, but then we don't have any comets.
If they're behind a comet they wouldn't die, jump or not.
Then I guess they're not 100% behind the boulder.
Might try it solo, but I'm not sure if I could do enough damage in time.
Was anyone else disappointed in nergi? I just finished his kill quest for the first time and i beat him in my first try. He just seemed kind of disappointing. Only times that he caused me to faint were because of his hitboxes being inaccurate.
You know, I wish we could get Gear Rex back as a colab monster, shit was an awesome as fuck fight.

And that theme is lit as fuck.
Probably just you. Nergi was the bane of my existence, or perhaps in a more practical sense; my first proper gear/skill check. It was at the Nergi quest I first had to stop and seriously consider my build and strategy.
Nergi is really easy imo but he's definitely some sort of gear/skill check since he's a lot worse if you aren't doing enough damage to him as all of his most threatening moves are when his spikes are all hardened. But if you knows what you're doing then you'll most likely only have to deal with these moves of him during the last area which you might faint since the area is kind of small.
Lance needs some kind of counter attack after a sidestep or backstep. Guard lance is just better than evade lance in every way.
the Guard Dash for Lance in this game is way too good
While i think being able to back hop through everything up to and including the wrathful fist of god himself like in 4U was super overpowered, it was fun as hell and i miss it
Saw this was on sale on Steam and I've been looking for a game with neat boss-fights and a worthwhile grind. Is it playable solo, or do I need friends to do most of the games content? I like Destiny 2, but so much of its content is group-locked which I'm not a fan of.
