The worst part of Federation Force is that playing as the Federation is a fantastic idea, even if it being multiplayer focused isn't an awful one. The game we got is just the worst possible take on it.
I won't name names but I can't believe that some people here thought it held the mantle of being a 'Prime' game.
I refuse to believe Samus Returns wasn't in development when Federation Force was at least being advertised. Like they could have mentioned something
What the heck was Nintendo thinking with New Super Mario Bros 2? The central shtick of the game was getting a million coins but it takes dozens of hours to achieve and all you get is an alternate title screen.
New Super Mario Bros 2 is the most honest NSMB game because it's about getting a lot of easy money for little effort.
What is the best way to play the Metroid Games (outside of Prime as i own them on Wii U)
The senior center I used to work at still has month Wii Sports activities. Literally the only video game you could get them to play aside from mobile slot machines, card games or knock off puzzle games.
The Wii U virtual console has Metroid Fusion, Zero Mission, and Super along with the Prime Trilogy on virtual console. Outside of original hardware or unsavory means that would probably be your most convenient choice.
What Metroid 2? Would the 3DS version be the best way to experience it?
The remake is pretty good, I'd recommend it. But I'd also recommend AM2R, which also remakes Metroid 2 but in a different way. It's a fan game though so if you're looking for the "pure" experience play Samus Returns.

I wish we could've gotten a port or two of the original games instead. This weird "test" with Travis Strikes Again is basically guaranteed to not work out. I'm certainly not going to force myself to try and enjoy it just because a proper sequel "might" get made if I force myself and everyone I know to buy a game none of us want.
I forgot to mention yesterday, the Wii Shop Channel will close forever in 14 days, if you haven't used your points cards yet, now is the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8avMLHvLwRQ
Travis Strikes Again Pretty much the reception i expected
Surprising literally no one. The justification that people are saying is that "Oh he's doing something different". Yeah he could have at least made it a -good- beat em up, not this shit. And it's $40 here, fuck off with that
Super ending spoilers for Travis Strikes Again Travis Strikes Again
...So it's already in development?
I am sensing quite high levels of SIN this past day...
I know the community here isn't the fondest of this meme, but: https://twitter.com/MarioBrothBlog/status/1085320705095413762 Siivagunner's crew is pretty damn good at finding obscure references. Their artwork for the meme was also based on the pose from this game. The quote is legit. Also: https://twitter.com/dubywala/status/1085322177505832962

Recommendations for Switch controllers that aren't the Joy-Cons? I really liked the Wii U Pro controller and would enjoy something like that, but the price point for a Switch Pro is just too high. Wired would be fine.
The wired Pro-style controllers go for around $20 but are missing things like motion control and amiibo scanning. Apart from that though they feel just like the pro controller at fraction of the cost. Most of them have fun designs on them, too. https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/cf477f3f-e608-4b0b-aa1f-94433ce0ffd0_1.efa11273fd1fcfcbd0a00ad88e43b317.jpeg?odnHeight=450
You know, as a fan of Yoshi games, I think I'm finally starting to understand why they're headed in the direction they are, and it's got me feeling pretty melancholy. See, the original Yoshi's Island had one great strength above all else - its style. There was nothing else like it, nothing as carefully crafted and lovingly detailed yet simple and charming as that game, for many years to come. It became partly synonymous with the character, to the point future titles like Yoshi's Island DS and later Yoshi's New Island tried to recapture it, the former far more successful than the latter. Then you have games outside of this style, starting with Yoshi Story. While opinions of the game are mixed, it's actually one of my favorites from that particular series, and it's largely because it had that same level of charm and detail, but took on a distinct new style. It became the game that would define the series in a "3D" space, even though its visuals weren't true 3D. Fast forward to the 3DS and WiiU, was shown two very clear messages within the span of a year. First, Yoshi's New Island flopped, the game's attempts at emulating Yoshi's Island in 3D completely failing, thanks to the significantly increased difficulty in polishing animations, characters, levels and scenes to the standard fans expected. Second, Yoshi's Wooly World was a big success, largely for taking the Yoshi Story approach and going for a handmade arts-and-crafts look, but in true 3D. The message these two things sent, was that it just isn't feasible to try and make the old style of game anymore, as the only way to go about that now in proper 2D again would cost an order of magnitude more money and work, which they learned when making Wario Land: Shake It. But what about the fans of the older games? Are they just shafted? Well... Nintendo is currently trying to appease them by combining elements of the two disparate styles, as seen in Yoshi's Crafted World, resulting in a game that actually shares more with Yoshi Story than anything, visually. We'll have to see how it's received long-term. tl;dr Classic Yoshi style is dead, long live Yoshi Story
Actually, the most surprising tease in the game apparently is the hinting at a long-awaited sequel to a fan favourite game. Shadows of the Damned 2!
Question: So I tried logging into my Nintendo account on the Switch but nothing I did worked. Was the account I had when I used the Nintendo Wii U the same as the one I would have on the Switch or should I make a new one"?
Nintendo (yet again) made a new account system now simply called Nintendo Account. What you are using is Nintendo Network, you need to make a new Nintendo Acc via your Nintendo Network.
Dammit Nintendo.
I go through the same trouble every fucking time and it boils my blood.
I set up my new Nintendo account and yet it still won't let me log in. What the fuck.
Trying to pack the Switch back up properly is hard tbh.
