I would've wanted the Black Knight as a playable character, being honest Smash getting more baddies this time around is great, but giving Ike (and the rest of the FE cast) a nemesis would've been icing on the cake
Black Knight would have been great as Ike's Echo Fighter.
To be honest, a 3211 Mii Swordfighter makes a very convincing Black Knight, far more fitting than brawling Skull Kid; still, yeah, if all 3 lords got echoes, the Black Knight would be neat. I'm beggining to think they should give Lucina Chrom's Up B and Final Smash. And Chrom Lucina's victory theme.
I'd say Snake is a pretty big brain character.
Whenever I play against my brother's Robin and one of his empty tomes bonks me out of a move that leads to my death, one of us always says, "I'm always three steps ahead."
Ummmmmm Am I supposed to be able to stunlock level 9 CPUs to 60-ish percent just by spamming Ness' PK fire at them? I even set them to try their hardest to evade, and most still can't get out
New Spirits event that starts this weekend: NES/Famicom/Famicom Disc All-Stars https://twitter.com/SmashBrosJP/status/1080267429912051712
... I wouldn't mind if the Smash for the Switch's sucessor was Ultimate, but with Homerun contest, Target Test (and perhaps even Platforms), and event matches. Spirits are damn fine, but "you have to fight Bowser as Mario" has some charm.
I feel like Spirit Mode is "Event matches light" . Event matches at least felt different from each other. Spirit battles are basically just the same five or so conditions repeated over and over again. And depending on your Spirit setup. Some of the conditions are meaningless making it a simple stock battle.
Holy shit Diddy's recovery got nerfed harder than anything I've ever seen It went from being one of the best vertical recoveries in the game to one of the worst When you factor in the height lost from charging your rocket barrel, the overall vertical range is about as much as Little Mac's Up+B
I love how a lot of the battles in World of Light are either pieces of cake that require no regard for the special rules, actually interesting battles, or completely agonizing ones with rules like: Conditions: -Stamina Battle -Your HP is set to 1 -You take constant damage
timed WoL battles are the worst tbh.
The problem is once you get a Legend and the right supports, pretty much everything outside of other Legends and some Aces becomes a cakewalk, even on hard. I've been blazing through WoL because of this. Having a powerful Spirit loadout just breaks any idea of difficulty over its knee. I can't count how many low-level Spirits I was able to OHKO just by going in with Ganondorf with a Legend primary and Regigigas for anti-flinch, and just pound them to the stars with a single Warlock Punch while they wail on me fruitlessly. There's no challenge so long as you can go in with any team. If they wanted to do it right and make it interesting (and not just have the vast majority of Spirits in your inventory sit unused), they would've restricted what characters you can use to those fitting for the scenario and how powerful your Spirits can be to something comparable to your enemy (and if they had even further restrictions by series for Spirits, that's even more reason to not just stick with the same few). This "you get less loot if you're OP" system doesn't work.
They should have made adventure mode a lot more like the subspace, going through levels with original/unique enemies and that. They wanted it to feel like you're going on some grand adventure saving the world but its hard to get that feeling when all you're doing is walking across a painting doing regular smash battles but just with different buffs/debuffs and modifiers on the fighters. It got really boring doing the above up to 650 times overall and there's a reason why I found the bosses to be the most entertaining and refreshing parts.
I thought that I wanted adventure mode in Ultimate right up until I played the platforming level in Classic mode and decided no, I don't want it, I'll never want it until we get jump momentum back because platforming with most of the cast is fucking agonizing without jump momentum.
It's nice that they attempted to do an adventure mode with the limited amount of resources they seemingly had left, but if I had to pick between Spirits/World of Light and stuff that was cut from Ultimate like the Stadium games and the Stage Creator (I can live without trophies, though), I'd rather have the remaining resources go to working on the latter.
I dropped WoL half way through and havent messed with spirits since. They just dont have the same appeal as trophies to me.
Real talk, back when Wendy was first playable online in Mario Kart I liked picking her because my friends had a comical overreaction to being beaten by that goblin. It kind of became a thing where I'd play her in games just to be a shitter so I unironically play as her pretty often. Today has been a trip
There's literally no point to doing New Game+ on hard mode Like by the time you start you're probably just getting the last few adventure skills you didn't get the first time and then the orbs become completely useless You don't even get better spirits for doing it. It's just like hacking in endgame equipment with a gameshark and playing a game from the beginning. Literally no benefit at all. And I was willing to give the spirits a chance seeing as trophies are no longer a thing but they're literally just using images we can easily find on the internet and without any interesting flavor text or game information we can learn from. So it doesn't really do any good to show us this massive list of characters from lots and lots of different games without letting us know anything about them. There's so many "Literally Who"s as spirits and the fights don't really do a good enough job of informing us at all. Overall I think it wasn't worth it to nix trophies at all.
Cutting trophies would have been fine as long they included text about the spirit like previous games. I always found out about a lot of niche-ish games because of it.
Brawl didn't have jump momentum either.

Ive been out of the loop and a quick google search didn't help? What happened with Wendy? Unless you mean that video by Aarontimar
No idea, but apparently a lot of 'tubers are doing it. I heard they collectively dropped at least 30 videos about her...
Maybe I'm just traumatised by how Luigi moves like a snail in the air.
Alpharad convinced every smash youtuber he could reach to upload a Wendy video today. There's literally like 20 wendy videos from EVERYONE. They're all about how Bowser Jr is the worst character in the game that relies on a single gimmick that doesn't work in Ultimate rendering the entire character completely unplayable. That's the joke.
Curious, what's the single gimmick?
That Wendy isn't the default costume. Memes aside I believe it's something about Jr's body taking more damage than his car, but the hitboxes are messed up here.
Gimmick is that Mecha Koopa is how the character controls the stage. You set up a hazard and it patrols letting you set traps and whatnot. In ultimate if you hold shield the mecha koopa just falls over for no reason and isn't a threat and it's not like you can send up multiple so it's literally pointless. Not even getting into the fact you can pick it up and throw it right back at Wendy/Jr for free. Then the character only has like, 2 kill moves- actually insane lag on literally everything they do and the most worthless recovery in the world Jr/Koopalings are solid worst in the game.
