Ok but seriously why is this leak the one every news site decides to report on? What makes it so different from any other 4chan shitpost leak.

The articles always say why they're reporting on them. "What adds credibility to this rumor (via Japanese forum 5channel) is the fact that the individual leaking it previously released details about a GranBlue Fantasy Versus fighting game from Arc System Works before it was announced and further information that P5R will release in the first half of 2019. The former has since been confirmed as a legitimate title, while the latter is now set for a formal reveal in March 2019."

Frankly i'd say Doom is more fitting as an M-rated representative than any of the others. It's just a fine game about a good Christian lad doing his due diligence decking those dastardly demons, not like a game about such violence keeping the world turning based on a widespread misunderstanding and do i even NEED to mention what a HARLOT Bayonetta is, excuse my potty mouth
https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/acjnzi/smash_ultimate_month_1_metagame_report_after_88/ Seems that after the patches during launch that adjusted the pre-release balance levels, that the game is actually decently balanced for once. Amusingly though, Fox currently has done the best in SSBU according to these stats, with Pichu and Snake in top 5. (Only one heavy is doing well, however: Donkey Kong.)
Problem is. It's already been well enough established just because someone can leak one game doesn't mean they can leak another. Even most credible leakers have a huge backlog of being completely wrong. I don't see why it's so newsworthy especially when he is just copying what most 4chan leakers are already saying.
The difference is that if he's right, he's not just copying what most 4chan leakers are saying. And yes, there's tons of well-known history of leakers being wrong before/after being right. But the whole thing about the smash leak cycle is that it's basically mandatory for news sites to bring up any leak that could have credibility towards it, if for nothing other than discussion/hype/views (?).
I'd be genuinely happy with that lineup. Doomslayer is my boy, Ninja Gaiden is a rad franchise, and I still think that Steve would fit Smash just fine. Fight me. I mean, Mr. Game and Watch exists, Steve wouldn't be the most abstract or least animated/articulated character by a long shot.
Mr. Game and Watch is Nintendo history, he's not some random crazy pick they just added. I mean fuck, they just updated him to being just purely old G&W references instead of his own unique character.
Mr. Game & Watch even with his "limited" movement has a lot of personalty and character. With Steve you have stiff walk and stiff swing. So much would have to be done and by that point you are so far off from the source material there would be no reason even going with Steve in the first place.
So I guess we aren't spoiler tagging leaks anymore? Anyways that leak is fake because it literally says one of the characters was going to be playable at launch but then was made paid later. Hasn't Sakurai said multiple times they don't even begin thinking about DLC until the game is completely finished? That is literally a direct contradiction. It makes no sense. They decided on the roster in 2015 so how can one of the characters somehow not be finished and be made paid after??
Cloud also https://i.imgur.com/SwAIPYs.png not "literally nothing" so far Joker actually has literally nothing, other than non-Persona SMT games being on the DS
If anything I think Steve would make a great assist trophy. He comes out, places some random blocks, swings his pick around, and then get blown up by a creeper.
that'd be fantastic
https://clips.twitch.tv/VivaciousEnchantingFlamingoNotATK Rob is neat
Literally as simple as googling "Final Fantasy Nintendo" also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persona_Q2:_New_Cinema_Labyrinth Like, come on
Every mainline SMT game other than Nocturne has been on Nintendo since the Famicom/NES though. Then there's all the spinoffs on Nintendo and the Persona Q games. Yeah while SMT and Persona are pretty disconnected aside from the demons SMT and it's related games still have much more of a mark on Nintendo than Minecraft despite how influential it's been. Also idk if doomguy would be fitting or not. It's just taking a character from a really mature and violent game to something like Smash would feel out of place (to me at least). The most mature/violent we have at the moment would be Bayonetta or Metal Gear but Doom is still miles above them.
FF7 has never been released on a Nintendo console other than the Switch. Same exact position Minecraft is in, except that was also on the Wii U
Cloud is representative of Final Fantasy as a whole. You're really reaching for arguments if you're going "Cloud from Final Fantasy, one of the most recognized games in Final Fantasy history, doesn't count because he wasn't on a Nintendo console specifically".
I am curious, I don't spoiler tag leaks unless there's like... hard evidence on who it is. A file that says BIPSON and people are going "Bipson? Must be Joker!" I'm not going to spoiler because that's just jumping to conclusions. Some random ass 4chan tier leak that can't even get the name of the characters its leaking right? Yeah I'm not going to bother. Why should I tag unsupported stuff?
Persona Q totally slipped my mind though, surprisingly. But I've literally never seen anybody claim to have played it
It's just been a rule to tag leaks. It's just common courtesy.
there's a whole thing in MGS2 about how Otacon's stepmother raped him for some reason, Metal Gear is pretty dark and Nintendo seems ok with acknowledging it
Just feels pointless when I can say Waluigi is a leaked character. Or here comes Crono or Player Avatar from Hit Game Sonic Forces. Now the thread isn't allowed to say those words without blurring them out even though I have no evidence/proof
Seems that physics mods are starting to be achieved: https://twitter.com/NyxTheShield/status/1081376716768063489
Let's put it this way. If a "leak" has enough credibility behind it to become a news story, whether it be through leaker credibility or other means, there is always the chance that it's true. There's a difference between tagging stuff with a possibility behind it and what you're doing. A lot of people want to go into these things with as little speculation as possible as they want to be 100% surprised with no idea of who it could be. It's just being courteous that if a leak has any semblance of being true, that it should be spoilered.
Seems neat as a concept thing but were people really asking for this? I thought that Ultimates general speed was agreed to be "just right" by the community.
That was just a subplot/backstory. The entire premise of DOOM is to violently slaughter as many demons as possible. The premise of many MG games is taking down the main villain who wants to do something bad with nukes + their mech (mostly). MG has dark and mature moments but it's not really comparable seeing the level Doom is on which is just really violent and overall extreme.
Yeah again I could get it if there's hard evidence with it or a good track record- but in this case as I mentioned the person has the names wrong on Doom Slayer and it feels like a bunch of meme picks if I'm being honest. That's why I don't think tagging this one is important because that reeks of being fake. It's as if a news story was run about how Rare's beloved old IP Guitar and Flute are getting in. Iunno I'll be respectful if it's something that sounds plausible and leave it at that.
