The Smash community. The melee community is not the same thing.
I don't even want wavedashing per se, but wavelanding is so satisfying that I wish they made the air dodge motion or fastfalling a bit more forgiving for that. I can see why some people like the idea of it. Personally, I still think the game is way too slow, but that's because of the Smash 4-esque combos (a.k.a. go for up air into up air or get practically nothing beyond a second hit) caused by the new knockback and the buffer while I think the neutral itself is a really good speed. It just feels like the game decides to slow down the pace thanks to the ludicrously quick knockback in order to let you reset neutral and I feel like that makes punishes way less interesting than in 64, PM or Melee. Still a much better game than SSB4, though, and fixes most issues with it's meta. As a grappler fan though, I really find the grab changes killing the fun for me though. There isn't anything satisfying about using Flame Choke if they escape it and it's no longer good enough to justify the freefall at and the grab mechanic changes ruined Ridley's design.
So I know the website that postal posted about the leak refers to him as Doom Guy. But I don't know why everyone keeps bringing it up that he leaked "Doom Guy" when, translated, it shows him referring to it as Marine. https://krsw.5ch.net/test/read.cgi/ghard/1544363780/12
We heard your guys wants. We are happy to announce we are adding some Marine guy from Doom instead of Doom Slayer.
People be talking about characters who can be "Brave" and completely looking over what it really is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1uH4BnswKQ
Geno was pretty brave in Super Mario RPG to help Mario and friends.
fuck me i would gladly take 20 Digimon fighters, 10 of which are literal echoes (things like the alternate color Greymons being echo fighters) if it meant we got Butterfly and Brave Heart onto the Ultimate playlist
Digimon getting in would have way more impact on me than Sonic getting in did, as far as dream fights go.
I'd love to have a Digimon vs Pokemon fight in Smash
Bonus points in the infinitely small chance that it actually ends up happening: Digimon was a video game first, and then became an anime afterward: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/MLEAAOSwt~RZd4V6/s-l300.jpg https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81U1p%2BrsVfL._AC_SL1500_.jpg (The anime came out 2 years later, by comparison)
All this talk about Steve not fitting in is funny when you consider Snake is in, solely on his popularity in Japan. Snake has 2 appearances in total on Nintendo, one being the ancient pre Solid games on like the NES no one gives a single fuck about and that laughably shit MGS remake on GC. Snake is also famous for being in a series with really heavy themes and violence that are not at all family friendly and appeal to a much different audience than Nintendo *usually* aim at. Meanwhile Steve is on Wii U, Switch and the 3DS. Sells like hot cakes, is very big in Japan and caters to all ages from across the world. He'll have a very special moveset and would look not at all out of place with the likes of Isabelle, G&W, Rob, Ness etc. I really don't see how Steve can't be added. He would be fine. I mean people want Doom Slayer for christ's sake.
I don't really begrudge people that like Digimon but I could never get into it personally. I just found most of the designs super ugly and the evolutions too nonsensical most of the time. I played Cyber Sleuth a couple years back when it came out and thought it was cool enough but none of the designs I saw really stuck with me. I realize I'm more than likely in the minority on it though.
Comparing Steve to Snake is insulting. Steve's design is as ugly to animate as it gets. The game is literally using animations that were intended to be placeholders because the dev never expected it to get as massive as it did. It will look absolutely hideous in motion in a way that even Fortnite characters wouldn't, because they are actually animate.
This model shows how Sakurai will make Steve's animations more fluid https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1822/0277b4c8-01f0-4445-865c-aec7685e5a2e/Steve Meme Face 4.png
I mean, have you played MGS The overall plots are usually pretty serious but the games are filled with unbelivably goofy shit even from the get go with Psychomantis yukkin it up about castlevania. 3, one of the most serious plotlines ever has a entire disc of gag reels and snake chasing down ape escape monkeys. 4 he can get the gun from boktai and shoot tornados out of a gun and more. It's all very silly.
I don't really see the comparison here. By your logic, Steve is just as likely to make it in as Ninja Bread Man, or Garfield, or Negatron from Transformers. All of those have games on Nintendo consoles that sold well, so it only makes sense, no? You have to actually back up your logic with statistics about just how well Japanese received Minecraft. The rest of your post is pretty much "snake is from violent video games!" and read like you just have a serious issue with him being in the game, so whateevr
No, it's understandable. It takes a high amount of standards to understand the sheer nuance and subtlety of such designs as Gundramon and LiterallyACombatShitWithTonfasMon [Damemon] : https://wikimon.net/images/9/96/Gundramon.jpg https://wikimon.net/images/8/88/Damemon.gif
It is kinda strange how we have gotten to the point where we are trying REAL hard to justify Steve being into Smash because no one actually wanted him till every shitpost leak added him.
Nah, your complaints are entirely valid. A lot of people are into the series because its human characters are much more intriguing and engaging than their monsters. The first two Digimon anime series absolutely blew Pokemon's anime out of the water, while aside from Digimon Rumble Arena 1, most of their games were.... okay, at best. Hell, that's why they brought the series back to the original characters (now in College) for the latest series. They also clearly like trying out different ideas, since they completely changed the formula for their later series. From a Digital world with Digital Monsters, to the monsters actually living in the Digital World, to the protagonists actually transforming into the Digimon.
I don't justify it, but I don't care. I won't lose sleep over Steve being in Smash like some people seem to.
Is Bayonetta not as graphic as DOOM? Perhaps, but the executions Bayo can perform on enemies in her games are sadistic to the point of being sexually suggestive at times, whereas the glory kills in DOOM, while violent, are relatively quick and clean in comparison. Also, you guys do realize that there are other elements in DOOM more important than the gore, right?
I just don't like the idea of DLC being used as a promotional tool for other franchises rather than celebrating the history of Video games. Newer games are fine but it sucks when a character is added in that chases the bandwagon. That's why I'm okay with the hero from Dragon Quest, less so with Joker and not okay with Steve.
Minecraft is the second best-selling video game of all time, after Tetris. If it's not a cultural icon in gaming, I don't know what is. And I don't even like Minecraft that much.
Heads up, if any of you are crazy enough to mod your game for whatever reason, searching for an online match (the first time after game launch) or clicking the in-game eShop button will trigger an integrity check. If it fails, the game will apparently softlock on a gray screen, and will crash every time you try to open it from then on, until you completely delete and reinstall it.
what happens if you're using a cartridge?
Oh I agree that it's pretty much sold like hotcakes everywhere. If there's any reason that Steve would be in smash that'd be why. Doom Clones gave birth to the First Person Shooter genre. Minecraft stands alone with no real clones branching out to innovate and compete. The closest I can think that's successful is Terraria and that's heavily stretching it.
Ninja Bread Man and Garfield aren't massive icons of the industry. Minecraft was top of the Switch digital charts for some time last year in Japan. https://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-reveals-that-minecraft-was-the-number-one-download-on-switch-in-japan-plus-the-overall-top-30-483214.phtml I was only mentioning the violence stuff to counter the argument that Steve would stick out like a sore thumb in the roster, nothing more to it. I don't even like Minecraft that much. I find it alright and don't play it these days but I could totally see why Nintendo would add him.
Modding the game's files on cart is very difficult, but presumably you'd just need to revert them to how they were originally to fix it.
Plot twist: They put Doomguy in, but it's this guy: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WQITFvhYLhQ/UKX4SMAjzLI/AAAAAAAACTo/Er3i-plMrt4/s1600/199597-doomguy.jpg
DLC Pass 2 will premiere with Sans Undertale as the first fighter, available for download the day they announce season pass 2. Really hope that we get more than one dlc season pass. Splatoon 2 got a little over a year and a half of new weapons and maps along with an expansion pack. We aren't going to get a new smash game anytime soon so I hope they keep up support beyond adding more spirits.
